    2 months ago I ordered 1 TIE Fighter online (won't say where -_- but shipping was free...) , and instead of getting shipped one expansion, I was sent an entire box of 6 TIE Fighters! I called the company about it, and they said I could ship back whatever I wasn't going to use. Let's just say I told them that I could definitely find a use for all 6 of them  :D  Too bad TF's don't have any good upgrade cards <_<

    Another ship shaped like an H? I'll get 0, and wait for an Assault Gunboat. Because it's cool and isn't shaped like an H. 

     

    So even in a posts specifically about TIE S/F we still get a post about the Gunboat. Maybe we should see how much it costs to have it never released.  :lol:

     

     

    I just don't get why FFG insists on releasing more TIE Fighter variants, when there's a bunch of other cool TIE and non-TIE ships. How many H-shaped variants and paint jobs do we need? :wacko:

    If a ship moves through, or touches an asteroid and it rolls a hit or crit, do the shields absorb that damage? I was initially thinking yes, but then it occurred to me that star fighters might only have ray-shielding, which is useless against physical objects. Thanks!

    I just realized something, that pertains to the Gunboat.

     

    If FFG does bring it in, it would be akin to saying that with enough comments and posts you could pressure the company into making a particular product. While this seems a nice enough idea, what would it mean in terms of community reaction? 

     

    Would we then see dozens of smaller topics, all focused on wooing the designers to make this ship or that? Would we hear the argument, "But they made the Gunboat; why not this?"

     

    A good friend of mine who majored in advertising gave me advice to this end: if you give them an inch, they will demand a mile - and they will despise you for not giving that mile. So even if they wanted to, would FFG actually be able make the Gunboat without drawing all sorts of undesired consequence?

    Tell me in what business scenario it isn't good to sell a product that people want to buy and you can easily produce. Any decent company will be aware of the consumer's desires.

     

    We are not asking for a ridiculous (like space whales) or unrealistic (like a Star Destroyer) product , we are asking for a ship, just like any other there is in the game. 

     

    It's simple: give us an inch, FFG, and we will buy miles.

     

     

    We're also not asking for another Tie Fighter...

    I just downloaded tie fighter from GoG (good ol games) just to relive the glory. That game is still awesome. I dont know what "used" stuff u have where u live (craigslist??), but i went on kijiji and bought a logitech 3d joystick that had only been used once for like $10. Apparently thrift stores and value village also carry stuff like this too.

     

    Has anyone here tried to play Tie Fighter from GOG on a mac? I have a Macbook Pro made in 2014. I would also need to find an inexpensive mac-compatible joystick. Would a thrustmaster work? They're $18 on amazon.

    Darius - did  see you say theother day that the original campaigns for X-Wing andTIE Fighter are available to download for XWA?

     

    Because, if so, the choice becomes clear - download XWA, install the XWA Update, enjoy the original X-Wing and TIE Fighter campaigns with improved visuals and music!

     

    (...were it so easy...)

     

    Forgive my ignorance, but how does this work? Do I need to purchase XWA through GOG? How do I then get X-Wing and TF? Thanks!

    After seeing all these Gunboat ULTRAS on this thread, I honestly think that the reason they don't make it is to keep interest in the game. Once the ULTRAS get their gunboat, they may stop buying new ships.

     

    ...Or become ultras of another ship.

    After the gunboat, it will be the TIE Avenger.

    Then the Missile Boat.

    The DX-9 transport.

    Then the R-41 Starchaser.

    The T-Wing.

    The CUV-1.

    The Muurian Transport.

    etc...

     

    Skipray Blastboat!!!

    Has anyone said gunboat yet?  :P

     

    But seriously, I absolutely love the TIE Defender. Flying around at high speeds, k-turning constantly, and getting focus and evade token each round suit my playing style. I just wish I had a gunboat or missile boat to fly with 2 TIE Defenders. Until then, I'll just have to fly my 3 TIE Defenders together.  :D

    You get to fly the TIE Defender in the last two-three missions of the main game. The Gunboat is with you as early as mission...3? Where you have to take out the Lulsla. You want to get the Defenders of the Empire expansion with the set if possible, since that's where you get many Defender missions and also some play with the Missile Boat.

     

    I use a XBox 360 USB controller for my joystick needs. I can almost imagine it's a TIE Fighter control yoke as well, which is nice.

     

    Ok. GOG includes Defenders of the Empire expansion. I don't think I can use a Xbox 360 controller on my mac or on my windows xp pc. Thanks!
