As part of another thread it was discussed that Boba get the Poe treatment, ie new Pilot card and ability and the old Boba be priced out of the game. I understand that Boba has caused a lot of issue for casual games, I mean no one wants to bring their jank fun list to see a Boba/Dengar list sitting opposite it. It’s like Boba is strictly for tournaments, or you’re just trying too hard to win casual games. I am interested in peoples ideas because while others loved Luke and Vader, ever since I saw Boba in 1981, he was my favourite Star Wars Character. He didn’t need the force or a fleet of ISD’s backing him up, he was his own man. So, how would you keep this iconic character relevant but not oppressive???

I think you and I are playing different games, sounds like you have Boba PTSD. Boba is 86 base already....

I agree mostly with your suggestions. I don’t think Jedi need to go up, regen and 7b have been priced out of being competitive. I don’t think Boba should go up, the problem with boba is a mix of Slave 1 and how initiative works. At the list building stage the Scum player can build a list around 190 and know only Int 6’s will out ace Boba, that’s an issue in my opinion. I don’t like the static initiative, but it’s what we have to work with.

Bertie Botts BBeans (Rebels Hyperspace BBBB)
Archangelspiv replied to Spinland's topic in X-Wing Squad Lists
Don’t really play Rebels, but this thread deserves a +1 just for the title, awesome work. -
This was my version on the same idea. I haven’t been able to test it yet, due to not owning a Brute. But I do want to try it. The Predators are points holders. Not sure if I should go with Crack Shot or something else. Thought about Hull upgrade on Rampage too, so much theory crafting.... New Squadron (39) "Rampage" [TIE/rb Heavy] (3) Autoblasters (3) Tractor Beam (2) Maneuver-Assist MGK-300 (1) Marksmanship Points: 48 (36) Saber Squadron Ace [TIE/in Interceptor] (2) Predator Points: 38 (36) Saber Squadron Ace [TIE/in Interceptor] (2) Predator Points: 38 (36) Saber Squadron Ace [TIE/in Interceptor] (2) Predator Points: 38 (36) Saber Squadron Ace [TIE/in Interceptor] (2) Predator Points: 38 Total points: 200

As a whole, I would prefer Fearless on Terry and Predator on Fenn. Rolling one less green die is good, but there are so many turrets or multiple arcs these days. Both are offensive upgrades which help you hit harder, outmanoeuvre is good, but worthless if you can’t hit or are in an arc. 6 points is a lot to pay.

I haven’t flown this yet, not a fan of TTS and the first time I can fly face to face is tonight. Pretty much Xi locks either Kylo or Vonreg and then coordinates where he pleases. I’m not sold on Terry the Toaster, but I’m not sure where to spend the points. I’m not used to FO support at all.... Here it is anyway- New Squadron (55) Major Vonreg [TIE/ba Interceptor] (2) Daredevil (5) Pattern Analyzer Points: 62 (76) Kylo Ren [TIE/vn Silencer] Points: 76 (43) Commander Malarus [Xi-class Light Shuttle] (6) Tactical Officer (1) Biohexacrypt Codes Points: 50 Total points: 188 what would you do? You can’t shoot the hostage.... I should add I want to keep the Xi cheap as a deterrent, try and mess a bit with target priorities.

It would be way to hard to balance for future upgrades. It’s a nice idea, just too hard to implement and future proof.

I dare say that’s an area meta thing. Sloan isn’t big in my area, thank god, and the Sabre was used either as to maintain the same PS as like Echo, or to be higher PS than the majority of the Separatists.

Squints suck because there are 2 go to’s. I like to live on the dream realm where one day if I see a squint across the table I won’t automatically assume it’s Soontir or a Sabre.... I feel this is punishment from FFG for all the cr*p ‘Fel’s Wrath’ took.... I’m sorry FFG Overlords! Give us some playable Squints!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I have had to really alter my mindset about X Wing recently because of price and 7 factions. The HoH pack is around 80 Australian dollars and I have to really think, do I need it? The answer is no, I hate X Wings and don’t fly resistance enough, plus I would fly probably Rey and Finn anyway. But the Empire is a main faction of mine and the Brute is 50 AUD, I have to think would I fly 2 enough to warrant the buy in? It seems to me the models are getting too expensive to be an old 1.0 collector like how I started out, which is a shame because I do love the miniatures.

He gets a free coordinate every second turn, it means Poe doesn’t have to always be the heavy lifter all the time. It means Poe can disengage if he has to while still supporting friendlies. I very very rarely play the Resistance, but I think new Poe could have a lot of value. Dismissing him now is short sighted IMO. Why do you say a not as good coordinate? He can target himself if he needs to, something coordinate can’t do.
-
Firstly I want to say that I find the Resistance the suckiest faction to play. It’s pretty much T 70’s and A Wings. At least the Rebels have choices. I only say this to show that I have 0 investment in the faction and I think I’m pretty objective. I don’t understand why you think new Poe sucks over old Poe. In my eyes they are vastly different and fulfil different roles. Old Poe is essentially an Ace, nothing outstanding, just an Ace with a decent ability. Whereas new Poe is a slightly lesser Ace, but he is also a support ship. You can coordinate whomever you want every second turn, including himself. I think it’s very short sighted to say new Poe just plain sucks, a good player can use him to set up killer double mod attacks, instead of having to rely on Ace Poe to do all the heavy lifting. I could be completely wrong, my main faction is FO and Republic, which I find I play the same anyway. I have thought about flying Resistance, but with 14 X Wing and 9 A Wing pilots to choose from, pretty much tells me it doesn’t have a lot of depth. Also I’m with @KCDodger... when she says, so tired of A Wings... boring AF.

What format(s) do you play or prefer?
Archangelspiv replied to Greedo_Sharpshooter's topic in X-Wing
Given the current Covid situation and I just can’t into TTS games, my answer is- Yes. I like Hyperspace and Extended. HS makes you think a lot about squad building, not only what’s in your list, but what are you likely to face. Extended let’s me bring all the toys. I find them both fun for different reasons. -
How are People Feeling About Having to Buy Out of Faction for Upgrades?
Archangelspiv replied to Tvboy's topic in X-Wing
I think that the topic title is a bit misrepresentative. If you changed it to, How do you feel about having to wait to buy/get upgrade cards in your faction? That would be different. You don’t have to buy anything now, you may have to wait until new ships are released with these upgrades. FFG didn’t lie, I think that’s unfair, you have taken it to mean that all upgrades you want will be immediately released on the ships you play, which is not doable for a company. Ask any imperial player who wants usable generic gunners, that’s a long wait game right there. -
I was going to say something similar. I mean Jango piloted the original Slave 1, seems crazy not to have some kind of title for it. As Gupa said, it could be an even crazier OP version of Scum Slave 1...
-
IG Aggressors laugh in the face of Jango! Well maybe not full belly laughs, but with 9 blue moves and the option to take Sync’d cannons, it could be a decent counter to Jango. I want to break out the Aggressors, they just need a bit more tweaking atm.

That’s not entirely true, with cards like Proud Tradition and Pattern Analyzer about his ability could be used more than we think. Proud Tradition shows us they are willing to go this way with actions being able to be used when stressed, albeit at a price.

In regards to templates I’m going with @theBitterFig for a few reasons. Mainly because it’s FFG and that they seem to do things which may not make sense to us, but mainly the only reason we don’t have a L and R template is because it’s more efficient to use one template and switch it around to get the result we want ie L or R. I think the Nimble Bomber uses this as an example of L and R templates being different, even though we all use the same template. It requires a bit of out of the box thinking, but I do think Fig is correct. Saying that, FFG would need a rules update as Hiemfire suggested to cover people who don’t own a TIE Bomber. For those people who only have 2nd Ed ships... that’s all of them. Still no clue as to why we are so deep into 2nd Ed and the Bomber and Lambda are not even spoken about as releases.
-
I already want to try Thermal Bombers with Skilled Bombardier.
-
I am expecting the V Wing to be a suped up TIE Fighter, given it is the daddy of the TIE, made too expensive for mass production, on an Empire scale, but a decent work horse and upgrade of the V19.

Hey Everybody, This is what I want to try, I’m just not too keen on double straining my /FO’s. Is this fine as is? Or changes required. New Squadron (43) Commander Malarus [Xi-class Light Shuttle] Points: 43 (40) Gideon Hask [Xi-class Light Shuttle] Points: 40 (25) Epsilon Squadron Cadet [TIE/fo Fighter] (4) Advanced Optics Points: 29 (25) Epsilon Squadron Cadet [TIE/fo Fighter] (4) Advanced Optics Points: 29 (25) Epsilon Squadron Cadet [TIE/fo Fighter] (4) Advanced Optics Points: 29 (25) Epsilon Squadron Cadet [TIE/fo Fighter] (4) Advanced Optics Points: 29 Total points: 199

Is there a point value that angled deflectors become viable-ish?
Archangelspiv replied to Pa Weasley's topic in X-Wing
I think a charge based mechanic is much more viable than it is in its current state. At the moment it costs too much as in points and an action to be worth it. -
Why couldn’t you? Ani gets rid of red tokens. Deplete/strain/stress are all red tokens. Ion is too. It’s the reason why FFG went this route so they could use simple terms to classify tokens without having to get wordy on ship cards.
-
Pretty sure it’s because of a thing called balance. 2.0 has always been about cost, you want something, you need to pay for it. There are ways around it like Yoda, but that’s about squad building. It’s about choices, you may not want to do it a lot, but a clutch block on an ace can put you over points and win a game. It’s why people hate spamtex, they can do everything for very little cost. I never said ETA’s would be easy but they sure do look fun. A lot of choices to make flying them. I am hoping to fit in 3 plus support. I cannot wait for this ships release.
