MandalorianMoose reacted to chr335 in Reminder: you can ignore other users
I have only a few minor problems with The Last Jedi as a stand alone film. The major issues I have, which are in my opinion, the fact that the entire movie seems to be trying to subvert the plot points set up in The Force Awakens. Mind you these may be fixed in Star wars 9 but it just seems that Abrams and Johnson were not collaborating with this movie

So let's say someone on the forums lately has really been really rustling your jimmies.
This is you, hypothetically.
Now sometimes it's time for some good ol' fashioned debating and discussion to really suss out why your jimmies were rustled and if they deserved to be. That's cool. It's a discussion forum after all. That said, perhaps the person in question is just the worst and you're tired of it. Maybe they're a troll. Maybe they're extremely arrogant. Maybe they add nothing to conversations. Maybe all of those. Maybe something else - your call, man, it's your rustled jimmies. You can scream bloody murder at them on an online forum devoted to grown men playing a second-tier plastic spaceships game whose own company barely remembers it exists or you can IGNORE THEM.
Yes, that's right, with this one crazy life hack you can gain minutes of your life back every day you would've otherwise spent seething pointlessly at the worst people on the internet. Doctors hate it!
The internet believes that if doctors hate it, it has to be good, right?
It's super easy, let me show you how!
Step 1: Find the person you're sick of dealing with. Let's just choose somebody at random for our example. Hover your cursor over their user name or profile picture. A little menu should pop up, and one of the options is "Ignore User." Click on it.
Step 2: You'll now be at the following page. That person's name should be automatically entered into the text box. Make sure to click in all the ignore boxes to ensure you never hear anything from them ever again unless you choose to. Then hit "Update Preferences."
Step 3: Sit back and move on with your life. Wow, it was so easy!
How much would you be willing to pay for this service? $1? $5? $10? A whole nest of porgs?
What if I told you that if you act basically whenever you want it's absolutely free?
Prices like this won't last forever and will expire when the forum is shut down in a decade or so, so ACT NOW!
P.S. You can also get to this menu by clicking on your profile in the upper right if you like.
MandalorianMoose reacted to BrobaFett in Admonition vs Foresight
The BEST defense in the game is dice cancellation. Sure Foresight let's you cancel 2 at long range, but is then useless (rerolls = useless, you are still usually taking damage). Even Mothma you cancel 2 at medium, but then you get close and it's useless. Admonition lets you do it at your preferred combat range - close. It's the only effect that lets you do that.
When you are taking damage, ie not cancelling dice, you are running out of shields, when you are out of shields Foresights wanna be advanced projector effect is useless too.
What sets Admonition above Foresight is how this upgrade works in combination with double evades and double redirects as a suite to cancel dice and then discard tokens as they become useless so an Admonition never is defenseless. At long range you can spend your 2 evades to cancel damage, and redirects to flip shields around, as you come in closer and your evades start to lose effectiveness you can start to use then discard them. At close range you can redirect and spend any leftover evades, then discard them as you run out of shields. If you get the balance right, Admonition is one of the most durable ships bar none in the game.

I haven't tested any of those three points, and I probably don't have to. I just have to point out to someone questioning the "tolerances of my measuring tool" that they bumped every component they possess (and half of mine) on the table a minimum of 3 times per turn, invalidating all accuracy, so the laser should get a slide..... 😁

Nerd sneer inbound I guess. Though I genuinely don't intend it to sound like that? lol
While all 3 of your points are at least semi valid (depending on the nature and quality of the laser device), having studied quite closely the tolerances of FFGs manufacturing processes though the provided materials including the printed LoS dots and Arc lines on the machine pressed cardboard ship tokens, I can assure you there is no way to get precise results.
That may seem like a petty stance to take, but if you're forcing someone to pull up ships (which immediately invalidates the precision of the game state) to measure with a "straight" edge, especially if that edge was pressed or cut by FFG, the level of precision you're attempting to achieve is simply impossible with the tolerances FFG has. In earnest, that laser, even with a bow (which is entirely based on the design and quality of the device), will provide at the very least an accurate measurement. Which is the best you can hope to achieve.
I've said this so many times. Armada, while designed for a precision state, is not a precise game.
MandalorianMoose reacted to Truthiness in Regionals Data Project 2018-2019 Season
It's that time of the year folks! Regionals Season starts this weekend. With the new season comes our annual data project, which attempts to collect lists and determine trends with the meta. It has gone a long way toward putting hard numbers behind problems. Throughout the season, you can go to this link and see what the data looks like:
So what does that mean for you? First, I need lists. The more the better. No list, even last place, is unimportant because it all goes into the statistics. You can post lists to a thread, or message me, I don't care. The more detail the better. Second, I need to know what the community wants to look at. I'll be editing the formulas in the coming days to update from last season, but I only know what I think is important. I need to know what else to teach.

Rieekan? Yeah, Rieekan sounds good.

I was playing around with fleets on the Warloards Fleet Builder and kind of stumbled on a combo.
Imperial II-Class Star Destroyer (120 points)
- Admiral Piett ( 22 points)
- Sovereign ( 4 points)
- Wulff Yularen ( 7 points)
Piett could be on another ship but with Wulff and Sovereign you can instantly change your token to whatever you want and use it as a full command each turn (except turn one most of the time, there are a few objectives that give your ships tokens before turn 1, or Hondo if you really need 2 commands turn one). So you were using it to run Squads but all your squads are dead? Change it to Engineering and heal up. Going into turn 6 and you need to have the best chance possible of killing that one ship? Switch to CF.
I am sure other combos will be found but I particularly liked his one.

Putting sfo on an hiedcap raider 2 or exracks raider 1 is a gimmicky but extremely useful way to get rerolls on the one "it better count" shot.
Other than that, its an attempt to make 1 time use officers like Titus that then just sit around and do nothing more useful. Tagge has been thrown out as a great admiral because his effect is over start of turn 5. Even thrawn after the dials are gone is a good candidate. Vader isnt just a janky reroll source, but he gives a secondary purpose to a lot of situational or single use officers.
Who knows, maybe he is even what makes Isard worth taking?
MandalorianMoose reacted to Mad Cat in SSD Spoilers, from reddit
Officer Ozzel on BT Avenger giving it Speed 4 (or a tiny bit further) on turn 1.
Officer Ozzel on a ship with FCTs can get you extra shuffling with squadrons. Firesprays Moving 1+1+3 from a single ship. When the (Probably slow) TIE Punnishers arrive this could be fun.
Ozzel can get you an extra attempt to grab objectives in missions like Salvage Run, Capture VIP, or Sensor Net. If someone Fleet Ambushes a force containing an Ozzel ISD or SSD they could regret it when it activated first a little closer than expected.
I think Vader on a Gozanti and some combat ships with cheap SFOs could become common. Vader Choking your Strategic Adviser around turn 3-4 gives an extra use as SAs are often only used on turns 1,2 and maybe 3. Once Thrawn has used his three bonus commands might as well sacrifice him for a reroll.

Good that there is a Flight Controller card in the pack.
I'm liking the 250 point SSD Assault Prototype. 5 more attack over the 220 point ship. Double turbolaser for QBTs and XI7s. Double Ion slots for LS & HIEs used with screed at long range with the QBTs. Red flak dice and easily enough officer slots for Kallus & Tua.

MandalorianMoose reacted to chieftom22 in Imperial Cargo Ship
This is one of my favorite ships recently, I don't know why, it's got some simplicity to it I guess. Anyway, I couldn't find a decent 3D printable model of one, so I found a detailed 3D rendering and converted it into an .stl file to be printable. Additionally I designed the cargo piece myself (These files are available on Thingiverse for anyone to print, with credit to the original 3D rendering: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3170378). The entire process took about 4 hours to design and convert, 7 hours to print, and I rushed the painting in about 1.5 hours.
I thought the community might like this as a model to use in campaigns or for custom battles as an objective piece, perhaps a rebel raid on a stranded imperial vessel.
