Armada by its very definition is unfinished (we hope). Pretty much every card and miniature game on the market is unplayable out of the box.  It will include rules of how to play a learning game and that's it.  For Armada at least, there are meta breaking balance errata that mean that playing the game without is playing a completely different game.
If you don't care about FAQ, errata, and such, why do you even care about point values at all?  Build whatever you want with the cards and play the game.  If you have no interest in a balanced game, why bother with balance at all?
With xwing 2.0 I think FFG did it correctly.  They made a fleet builder more or less required.  However, they also made the system so complicated that honestly, I wouldn't WANT to do it without a builder.  If you want to play out of the box, they give loadouts for that, with balance to be taken with a grain of salt.
All that being said, I expect Armada is too young to scrap for a 2.0.  I just expect mechanic changes and MAYBE some more complexity to the fleet building process.

    Change FFG to “Alliance”.

Its their job to distribute for and order from FFG. (At least in the US 😁)

Plus again, dealing with a situation where, due to Asmodee policy, pure Brick and Mortar stores get more preference than hybrid online stores who in turn get more preference than online only stores...  So online retailers are inherently at the lower end of stock priority - if anyone is getting shorted in the first instance it’s them, and there may be a ton out on the market through those other channels.

If you have the latest set of points costs/upgrade slots via pdf then it’s no different than buying an out of print game and using those components....

The x wing system looks awesome.  I'd love to have that in Armada.
Just tweaking costs alone could mayyybe make a few dud upgrades useful.

X-wing 2.0 cards do NOT have printed costs.
Instead, all points are contained in several pdfs - and then reflected in the fleet builder app.
Ships also do NOT have upgrade icons - they too are listen in the pdfs/app.
(you find it here, at the bottom, under Points Cost, https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/products/x-wing-second-edition/)
Approx 2 times per year, FFG will update the points (and to a lesser degree upgrade slots).
The game launched 13 Sept and we had the first update on 28 Jan: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2019/1/28/balance-in-the-force/
(next update this summer, I believe)
Regarding the actual app: It's a piece of hot garbage, but with SOME redeeming features. The GUI is horrible, and it was more like a beta when it launched. It still probably is the least user friendly app (there are 3rd part apps too). The redeeming features are logging using forum username, and both web/mobile clients. And it supports custom formats, which is very neat.
(I build all my fleets in YASB 2.0, and only use the FFG app for official events - and sometimes to build fleets for custom formats, such as a the Yavin IV battle event).
But the app is just a tool to help you. It's not really essential (but oc, who builds fleets without a builder!?). The main things is the variable costs and flexible upgrades.
Now, some will claim that this is just lazy game design and whatnot. That they should get it right the first time bla bla bla.
    This is just rubbish.
You CANNOT make a competitive game with this many parts and get it right. No matter how well put together (2.0 is extremely well done for the most part) and thoroughly playteststed (a lot), players WILL "tear it apart". This is true of every board game, miniatures game, computer game, whatever. It's hard to get right, even if there was just the core game and no future releases. With who knows how many waves in the making, it's just impossible.
The first batch of points released was maybe a little skewed towards Empire and Scum, not so much Rebels. So in January both the TIE Bomber and Punisher got points increases. Along with some of the upgrades that had made them super-effective. Other Empire ships actually got a points decrease. Same with Scum. Rebels got away with few increases, but they did up the cost of my precious Proton Torpedoes.
For upgrades they, as an example, took away the Phantoms Crew slot. It was problematic mostly bc you could stick Darth Vader in it - and together they were much more effective then any other ship/Vader combo.
Now many of the old tricks no longer work. My Nationals Rebel list sits at 206 pts. I have Empire lists where EVERY SINGLE card got a points increase
So of course NEW stuff is floating up to the top. Some of which maybe well be just as cost effective in the new meta as the old stuff was before. Well, I do see more list variety post-update. So maybe balance IS a bit better (but some cards, like Leia, is now so cheap she's in the almost auto-include category).
But for me the ideal isn't the ULTIMATE BALANCE. I don't think that can happen. Players are clever. They find the effective combos.
You can strive for GOOD balance, but the most important part (for me) is that the meta will CHANGE, and not just as a result of new waves.
This keeps the game fresh and exiting.
Oh, and FFG is not shy about going ad hoc updates either. We had a "Tripsilon" build - three First Order shuttles deploying in your face r1 - cut down at the knees before it could become a big thing. FFG even explicitly stated that they didn't plan on doing that often, but that it was a build that pretty much broke a core aspect of the game, namely careful maneuvering. It wasn't unbeatable, but for less experienced players it was just frustrating and dumb to play against.
The try to avoid direct errata of cards, but they do keep a forum thread with official rules interpretations in addition to the RRG/FAQ.
TL;DR When you think about how many ARMADA upgrades just sit there, unused, and how many ships are just niche because their price or upgrades just isn't competitive... or how long it took for stuff like Rieekan, Demo, Yavaris, flotilla spam to be (somewhat) reined in... X-wing 2.0's model is INFINITELY better.

Just wanna be clear that you are complaining about a lack of communication because they wrote an article? You are complaining that they could have content with community members in an article with an interview with a community member?

I have been vocal about FFG having poor public relations, but when they actually do something right, let's be positive about it.

Exactly. This is what I, and many others, have been asking for for a year. Just talk to us about where we are and where we are going. Doesn't have to be actual announcements. Updates that let us know you are still thinking about the game matters.

Thus, thanks for trying to get better, FFG.

Its your right to feel that way but the statements I'm mostly refering to are:
"World Championship at AdeptiCon, the event is bound to prove an exciting time for every Armada fan—present and future. Not only will we see the game's top players unveiling their most creative and refined strategies to compete for the game's biggest prizes, but we'll see the next announcement of a future Star Wars: Armada expansion"
    And
"The construction of the Empire's forthcoming Super Star Destroyer remains ongoing, and the ship won't arrive in time for the 2019 World Championship."
I mean not reading into these statements they littlerly said we have an expansion anouncement at Adepticon, and that the SSD is going to come out after worlds. We did have a good guess this was going to happen, but these are transparency statements and I think the community was wanting more transparency and we got it, so I thank them for the transparency. There are a lot of things we could read into, but these are clear statements.

Hoth.  The Rebels are second with both Blockade Run and Planetary Ion Cannon, and get 6 GR-75 Medium Transports, Toryn Farr, Rieekan, Derlin, Bright Hope and 6 X-wing squadrons.  The lifeboat and cap rules are not in effect.  The Empire gets 6 Imperial II-class Star Destroyers, Admiral Ozzel, the Vader officer and the Executor.

I feel the alliance would have an easier time with Sep ships. after the shutdown order, i'm assuming there was an entire fleet just floating in space, like ripe fruit. And since they were built for a small crew and mostly automated and run off droid operators.. luckily these come with their own droid crew ready for reprogramming!
Republic/ early empire were crew heavy ships.. in maintenance if not actual operation.. short of a system defense force defecting, not sure how else rebel operatives would've gotten a hold of them.

You are quite close to a list that I had a bit of success with for a while. If you strip down some of the upgrades you are able to add in two Comms goz’s, bringing you up to 6 activations, which can really help force things into your guns. It’s actually quite happy to take second player and camp objectives. I found that people were usually only able to take out one of the Vics by the time they got tabled by sheer volume of dice, and since they are so lean it doesn’t hurt your score much. SFO is great for swapping from nav to CF once in position. Here’s my list for reference

It’s probably easier to get separatist ships on the black market than Venators that were under republic and then Imperial control.
Smaller ships like nebulons and the like could be stolen by a relatively small crew, whereas I’d imagine you would require a much larger force to capture and run a ship of that size, let alone the fact that it would most likely be heavily guarded/garrisoned

If the Alliance had them, would they use them?  Sure.  It’s a multirole, formidable warship.  I can’t think of any combat-capable ship they’ve declined to field given the chance.  The question is: could they get them?  Unlike Separatist craft, the Empire continued to use Republic warships in their navy, potentially leading to a more careful, organized process by the time they were decommissioned.  In fact, the only Republic vessel we see in Rebel hands is the Pelta, which was designed as a medical/cargo vessel.  I think that’s interesting.
@Zeoinx what’s the source for the planetary governments and the Rebels appearance?  If you’re thinking of the Audacity, that was in the comics and is no longer canon.  But it might well not be capable of movement, functioning more as a dwelling than a transport given the context (heck, how would it stay fueled?)  And it’s missing the starboard command bridge, which is the command center of the ship (the port bridge is for starfighter coordination.)  Not to say you’re wrong necessarily, just that it’s a significant assumption.
