Shironeko got a reaction from General_Grievous in Star Wars Co-Op, do you think we'll get it?
Agreed. I've played Destiny a few times. It's simplistic and quite boring. I prefer the LCG. I also love Arhkam Horror and LOTR LCG, A Star Wars game based on the same model would be a sure buy.

Mixed reviews? I was under the impression that most of the reviews were very positive.

Shironeko reacted to Werepanda in Are we having fun yet?
I'm genuinely curious about who is having fun with the 3rd edition and ideally, why. I have nothing but respect for Richard Lanius and Fantasy Flight Games for the Arkham Files series but I feel like something integral is missing from AH3. My group has a complete version of 2nd edition and a complete Eldritch horror. We had fun with both of those games and played them for a long time. The most fun we had was going through the three seasons of League play--even when we lost. And that's the crux for me. Playing through the 3rd edition hasn't been fun for me, win or loss. I think it comes down to the pressure of the action economy. It feels like we are always behind, even when we are playing smart/making good choices. In theory that should make for a good horror game but so far being on the receiving end, it feels frustrating with our wins feeling like they depended more on luck than skill/smarts. Our group always has played at the four player level, which was the cut off in AH2 and EH for difficulty progression. Generally we tried to cover our bases in what characters would be played, even in the truncated character availability of League play (meaning we had a fighter, a gate closer, some kind of support, and then a wildcard). The first solution I thought about but didn't implement was messing with the Mythos cup in some way, either diluting it with blanks or having players draw less or something. Now that we have beaten all four of the starting antagonists (perhaps 12 games in total), we are returning to AH2 to see if we can pin point what the differences is. Normally we would play the game into the ground to make sure that we were playing "properly," but I just couldn't bring myself to do that any more. While there are things I liked in the update to 3rd ed. (the personal items that helped each character feel unique, as well as items and allies that can take damage/sanity loss) and I appreciate the risks in new ideas like the modular board and the idea of more cohesive stories, ultimately the game just didn't come together for me. Any thoughts from the community?

Shironeko reacted to subtrendy2 in Don't Give Up Hope
Eh, we've barely gotten a mention at the past two Gencons, either.
But it is frustrating.
Like, they've got to read these forums and know how forgotten we feel.

Are you sure that 3 cores is enough?
🤣

Judging from the photos, I'm really not crazy about them..

I like Rebels, so Lothal for me, please.. 😉

Shironeko reacted to Rogue Dakotan in Help, Ideas for Storing Map tiles
I store my tiles in a CD binder. Seperated by sets, then in order by number within the sets. The tiles to big to fit in the binder are stored in another binder where I keep rulebooks.

Shironeko reacted to Kepagt in How similar is this to Gloomhaven?
This game has nothing to do whit gloomhaven. Only thing is that use cards not dice.

Shironeko reacted to zwara81 in I guess some box expansions got canned
(and they reprint almost everything. would make no sense start a 3rd edition)

Shironeko reacted to a1bert in What does Outer Rim mean for IA?
True, and FFG would not be adding new stuff to the free Legends of the Alliance app if any of the current IA was in jeopardy.
Outer Rim finished and going into production (otherwise FFG would not have announced it - if their MO holds) at least should free some design resources. And where do we want them? (all together now) IA!
-
Shironeko reacted to FrogTrigger in Why is this game categorized as a "Board game" while Star Wars: IA doesn't?
Ok... i don't think anyone is arguing that with you? We explained it is a technicality.
Feel free to email FFG and express your frustration with the classification :P

Shironeko reacted to broknsword in What's your opinion on no dices?
Honestly, I'm gonna miss the dice. I know it seems like the cards will be less random, but dice are just more fun. Wish they would have come up with a system like Heroes of Terrinoth, where you still have dice, but can use success tokens to help mitigate the roll maybe. Still super pumped for this game, either way.

Shironeko reacted to Ywingscum in What's your opinion on no dices?
Yes but you can manage the odds with deck manipulation. So it is an interesting mechanic.
but dice rolling is more fun haha

Shironeko reacted to FrogTrigger in Looks promising!
I would really like to see an article for this, as I said in the other thread the app is a big draw for new players.
They just increased their app content by 50%, id say that warrants a news article.

Shironeko reacted to FrogTrigger in New App Campaign: Hoth now available
Ya I'm really hoping they give us an article to draw attention to the app and New players.

Shironeko reacted to TheSpitfired in New App Campaign: Hoth now available
I remember when the Descent app came out and I had gotten some Descent stuff and then I heard a very small rumor that Imperial Assault was also getting an app so I grabbed a core set. I've really come to appreciate the game even if it doesn't hit the table as much as I'd like.
As I alluded earlier, getting Return to Hoth might be the perfect justification to bust it back out more.

Shironeko reacted to C2K in Forgotten age difficulty...(sigh)
Forgotten Age isn't difficult in the sense its difficult to do anything. Its difficult because what you think is the correct play, is actually the wrong play in some situations. It messes with the way you play the game, and add in the fact that the first time playing with the supplies will be a crap shoot, that's why I think its left a lot of people salty.

Shironeko reacted to Soakman in Arkham Horror 3rd? Why?
I see these arguments frequently, and I still don't get it. If a game is fully out and there are no more expansions coming, that doesn't mean it isn't worth playing or that it's 'dead.' It means that it is complete.
Why 3rd edition? The answer is pretty simple. People like the mythos and FFG had a new spin that they wanted to give a go. Now more than ever, with the card game being so successful, people are looking to other forms to experience the setting and characters that they've grown to love. Gaming has advanced, and FFG has learned a thing or two from its previous experiences, and people don't always want to sit down for 8 hours to play a game.
It sounds like you are pretty convinced that you don't need 3rd edition, so the simple solution is to not buy it, and continue to play 2nd edition. The differences in mechanics become pretty clear if you read the articles and do a bit of digging. If you're not interested enough to do that, then you probably are going to be disappointed anyway because in essence, yes, it is more of the same only experienced differently.

Shironeko reacted to Sindriss in Modular gameboard?
I normally love modular boards but am really disappointed in this one. The hexagonal design looks too sci fi and the perspective of the tiles and connectors are different which looks sorta amateur. That and the recycled art make this title a pass for me (just like MOM2e) AHLCG already does everything.

Shironeko reacted to mwmcintyre in Well, I'm back ...
I hated the skill sliders in 2nd. My biggest issue with the game. Way too fiddly and likely to cause AP.
-
Shironeko reacted to MMOfan in what are the features that make me buy this ?
AH 2nd edition is really old in 2018. I understand the old players who invested money and had a lot of fun with it over the last 13 years, but...
We played it with a group of 4 a few weeks ago and while 2 of us were really hardcore fans it did not convince me really, nor another player who never played AH or EH. A few days later I invited the new player to a 2 player game of EH ... and since then he continued playing EH.
I hope AH 3rd edition will upgrade a few mechanics like the too fiddly sliding of skills (oops my slider moved), the lack of specific individual end boss stories (as in EH) and frankly including the kind of stories told in AH the card game would be excellent.
The AH LCG also showed that these stories certainly do NOT hamper repeated play at all. It is odd we forget these sessions rather quickly after a few other plays/months.
