  1. I've posted my second attempt at an Imperial Fleet, so now I'd like to post my idea for a Rebel one and see if this might be any good in competitive play (in the experts' opinions). The idea here: head-on attack from all four frigates, with Y-Wings to take on any flanking ships/aid in attacking the big ones and X-Wings to deal with TIE Fighters that try to shoot down the bombers. -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Commander: General Rieekan (30) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Wedge Antilles X-Wing Squadron (19) -X-Wing Squadrons (3) (39) -Y-Wing Squadrons (6) (60) Total: 400 Points
  2. I think I'm gonna replace the Avenger title with the Expanded Hangar Bay retrofit. Being able to mobilize Rhymer and four other bombers and sic them on a ship sounds like a nice ability to have.
  3. Thanks for letting me know on the Overload Pulse/Avenger thing. Hadn't thought of that. The XI7s could also be a good idea - redirect has been a pain in the ass to deal with in most of the games I've played.
  4. Okay, I think I've got a better idea for an Imperial fleet than my last one. Basically I wanted this one to have both a strong center and enough speed to both engage in hit-and-run attacks and chase lighter ships that slip by the Star Destroyer. Think this could do well? -Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120) --Title: Avenger (5) --Commander: Darth Vader (36) --Ion Cannons: Overload Pulse (8) --Turbolasers: Enhanced Armament (10) --Weapons Team: Gunnery Team (7) -Raider I-class Corvette (44) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -Raider I-class Corvette (44) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -Major Rhymer TIE Bomber Squadron (16) -TIE Bomber Squadrons (5) (45) -Howlrunner TIE Fighter Squadron (16) -TIE Fighter Squadrons (5) (40) Total: 399 Points
  5. While that WOULD be funny as hell (the Jan Ors trick), I'm not really interested in the Rogues and Villains expansion. Just going for pure Alliance or Empire.
  6. I just bought the core Star Wars: Armada set, and I've played a few games as both Rebels and Imperials. But now I'm sort of paralyzed with indecision regarding which army I should go with. I've got two lists, one for each side, and I'm wondering if I'm onto something with either of them. So I wanted somebody to look at them for me. First, the Imperiai list. The idea here is basically to have the two Gladiators flanking the Imperial so that when they approach head-on, whichever way the opposing ships break, they'll still be under the guns of one of the Gladiators. -Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120) --Title: Avenger (5) --Commander: Darth Vader (36) --Ion Cannons: Overload Pulse (8) --Turbolasers: Enhanced Armament (10) --Weapons Team: Gunnery Team (7) -Gladiator I-class Star Destroyer (56) --Title: Demolisher (10) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -Gladiator I-class Star Destroyer (56) --Title: Insidious (3) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -TIE Fighter Squadrons (10) (80) Total: 399 Points Second is the Rebel list. The idea here is mostly fast attack, with the frigates attacking head-on (with support from the fighters) while the corvettes flank and strike at the side and rear, using Mon Mothma's ability to avoid the worst of the damage the opposing ships dish out. -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Title: Yavaris (5) --Commander: Mon Mothma (30) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Title: Salvation (7) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -X-Wing Squadrons (4) (52) Total: 396 Points
  7. I've just gotten into Star Wars: Armada (only have the core set), and after a couple of games in which I've played both Rebels and Imperials, I'm kind of paralyzed by indecision as far as which faction to go with. Both of them have their strengths (naturally), and I'm wondering if any of the lists I've come up with would do any good in an actual game. So here's the two lists I've come up with. Both are constructed with tournaments in mind (400 points). First is the Imperial list, which is intended to be an "overwhelming force" sort of list. I want the Gladiators to flank the Imperial so that any ships approaching will have to go under the guns of at least one Gladiator. -Imperial II-class Star Destroyer (120) --Title: Avenger (5) --Commander: Darth Vader (36) --Ion Cannons: Overload Pulse (8) --Turbolasers: Enhanced Armament (10) --Weapons Team: Gunnery Team (7) -Gladiator I-class Star Destroyer (56) --Title: Demolisher (10) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -Gladiator I-class Star Destroyer (56) --Title: Insidious (3) --Weapons Team: Ordnance Experts (4) -TIE Fighter Squadrons (10) (80) Total: 399 Points Second is the Rebel list, which is intended to be a light fleet. The idea here is that the Nebulon-Bs attack from the front, using their XI7 turbolasers to do some damage, with the X-Wings providing support, and the Corvettes perform a flanking run, taking a turn or two to angle themselves towards the target's rear area and combine their firepower. -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Title: Yavaris (5) --Commander: Mon Mothma (30) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -Nebulon-B Escort Frigate (57) --Title: Salvation (7) --Turbolasers: XI7 Turbolasers (6) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -CR90 Corvette A (44) -X-Wing Squadrons (4) (52) Total: 396 Points So am I onto something here with either list? Could either of them stand a chance in an actual tournament?
