    🤨 "free" actionless R5 style card flip until you get hit with 2 crits in a single attack while being able to ignore an additional crit before the ability has to take over, even with that dial, isn't worth 2 over the Rebel Y-Wing? Riiiight….

    Who/what was the other Empire list withput any force?
    One 6 ship Howlswarm and one Soontir+3 Imdaar?
    We're pretty deep into Acewing right now, Aces (esp I5+) and Force are long overdue for a nerf.
    I know I'm off in the corner ranting about how Black Squadron Scouts are the worst pilot in the game, but it would be nice for the factions to not devolve into 3 ship ace lists jousting eachother again.

    I played a game last week against a friend who hadn’t faced resistance yet.  I played my 5 A-Wing list and he was playing Separatists.  
     
    It was a great game, could have gone either way thanks to some crazy dice variance at a few points, but ultimately he was surprised that Heroic was only 1 point.  This guy has the worst luck and always seems to blank out at the worst possible time, and having the extra insurance of Heroic would be a godsend to him.
    His comment got me thinking about a lot of the opinions I’ve seen that Heroic should be 2 points.  I disagree, and for all the reasons that have been brought up before: its really of limited usefulness and is just an insurance card.  Then I realized another reason that I think it should remain 1 point.
    It’s pretty integral to the Resistance faction identity.
    Sure, every faction is their talent card, but none of them is quite as central to many pilots in the faction as Heroic.  Fearless and Selfless all see their uses, but Heroic is everywhere, and for good reason.  It’s almost like the Resistance’s “faction ability.”
    Setting aside the admirable folks who keep trying to make the Falcon or Bomber work, Resistance is a 2.5 ship faction.  The transport sees some play, as does Finn, but the backbone of the faction is X-Wings and A-Wings (maybe soon Y’s as well).  They are still mostly an ace faction that relies on those two ships to out-fight the opponent.  And they are expensive.  3-4 points more expensive than their GCW counterparts means those points add up, and even if you have space at the end, there is no real filler ship in the faction.  The Pod comes closest, but BB-8 or Rose are bad filler, Vi has a job to do, and Finn is not filler.
    I’m not saying the price increase is bad.  The added abilities and stats of the Resistance ships results in a well deserved price premium.  But the end result is that the Resistance has to rely on quality over quantity like no other faction in the game.  Even a comparable rebel list will likely have an extra ship over the Resistance squad.
    Enter Heroic.  It’s just a little bit of extra insurance.  One point to add some survivability to our fighters, whether it’s a Black Squadron Ace, Tallie (admittedly a little undercosted), or Poe (decidedly NOT overcosted...or undercosted). 
     
    On the one hand, it pushes out most other talents since Heroic is cheap, and while it may not always come into play, when it does, it is clutch.  But is the answer to increase the cost of Heroic?  Not in my opinion.  The answer is to accept Heroic as one of the key cards for the Resistance, as integral as a T-70, or to design other talents that could compete.
    Anyway, so ends my essay.

    Yeah, the game has a great diverse meta right now. but it could be even better: 
    1. Bodies/low-Generics (I1-4) should be cheaper. Blocking to kill high level aces is pretty hard, and you need more bodies for that. Generics also focus on good flying, not good list building. 
    2. I6s generally need to be quite expensive, maybe even more than they are now. Just a tiny tiny bit. Its getting close, but they're still incredibly good. I3s and I4s should be much cheaper, representing a huge bonus for lack of initiative. 
    3. Rocks should matter a lot more. Gas clouds were a terrible idea and need to be much more bad to hit. 
    4. Abilities need to be more like Tie Defender errata from 1.0. Fully execute and not overlapping obstacles. This includes those Fined Tuned, Full Throttles (on all ships), all the other abilities like Lando that happen after fully execute need the not overlapping clause too. Enough is enough, fined tune off a rock? that's just silly. I fly and love my Jedi so much, but seriously, this was a DUMB idea. So is every other only fully execute trigger. Make flying matter more. That's the way to make the game good. 
    (5. Force=calculate is dumb. Double mods are silly just like they've always been. I know these are here to stay now, but lol)

    I would also point out, the current conversation people are having about Regen aces is a little misleading.  For anyone that watched the Gencon stream, the game was over, Anakin had lost.  The only reason Regen was a factor was because of A) an inexplicable straight 2 instead of a hard 1 and B) not barrel rolling to block to the hard 1 from Anakin.  If the Scum player had did this in the semis, that game was over, Anakin just loses.  That game was 100% decided by flying, not regen, time or lists.

    I dont think regen belongs in the game. There are so many good astromechs now, but regen trumps them all in tournaments. The cost of two shields for 6pts is just easy decisions as well. Taking a disarm is not a negative as no ship shoots every round in the game. 
    Making r2 more expensive just increases the points fortress ship even more.
    I think the correct solution is to errata R2 to have at least 1 damage card before regening shields (same trigger as r2d2 crew). This would stop the running after losing just two shields on an opening engagement, etc. And if the enemy can get dmg on the ship before regen, it could be a crit like panic pilot making it hard to flee, or direct hit, preventing regen above half points. A lot more risk for the regen ship this way.

    First off, price regen appropriately ™. 
     
    Second, if the damage doesn't stick, it doesn't make sense to count it. I'm roughly okay with half points being a reasonable compromise between lore/experience feel and actual tournament playability with real world constraints. 
    Shields regenerate in X Wing. If you shoot a ship's shields and they regenerate you haven't damaged the ship in a meaningful 'I won this space battle' way. If an astromech or crew fixes it, you haven't scored a victory because you didn't damage or destroy the enemy. This isn't point karate, this is a Star War.
     
    Price regen appropriately to its impact on the game and victory, and keep goofy game balance points in their own metagame world, but it doesn't make sense to have a barely damaged ship count toward victory.

    Does anyone know why is Leia I:5 pilot? I saw all the movies and never seen her flying the ship. Now, all of the sudden she is as good as Luke Skywalker, Corran Horn, Lando Calrissian?
