  1. I wonder if the Horsemen is just scratching the itch the collectors have. It's a new random game with rarity among the cards. Okay so what is the most collectible thing? Oh these cards are rare and tie together... They MUST be mine. A store owner opened a few decks to teach the game with and it had some eight horsemen? I wonder if he pulled the trigger on selling that deck online.
  2. Was at an event over the weekend and had two good matches. One was very close and one was not. But then I hit my third match and it was my first taste of 1.0 as it felt like a pointless game. I ran into Vader, Inquisitor, and a Tie Reaper. I didn't jot down my opponents list, but it seemed like rolling the dice was pointless as they were both manipulating the dice in such a way. The Emperor was in there two but not nearly as annoying in the past. The one that got me was the inquisitor gets to make any attack a Range 1 attack. I guess making range two to range one but from three to one seemed wrong. They flew well and knew their list very well. I know I am a rookie and need to figure out a better list since this is what we will be facing again. What strategies or lists are people using when facing this list?
  3. Played a couple matches with Luke and Norra from the Quick Start and had fun. So I decided to try a more stripped down version of both. Norra Y-wing Ion Turret, Vet Turret Gunner (57) Luke R5 Instinctive Aim (69) Arvel Indimidation Cluster Missles (44) Blount (30) Yes, it's all about the up close with this list. Since I haven't played much and never was a great pilot, I want to get in and roll some dice. If I were going to move things around, I might be talked out of the Cluster Missles, or the Vet Turret Gunner, a two die attack is not exactly worth 8 points is it? Perhaps a way to have the ion attack stick better?

  5. Thanks for the fun ideas. I ran Norra with Luke in a Quick Start event over the weekend and I was wondering how others were kitting them out for an actual 200 point dogfight.
  6. I got in two games over the weekend running a Luke Norra quickstart list. I wanted to try the new turrets and the new Force abilities and I have to say the game feels right. In my second match, it was Vader and two Ties, the ties went down quick but Luke had quite a bit of staying power with his Force abilities and R2-D2 fixing the shields. It took Vader a long time to hunt Luke down. I like the addition of the charge mechanic, you have limited uses of these abilities and I like the addition of ammo to the ordnance. Single shot never sat well and then dropping more points in seemed odd. I really like the new way. The facing on the turrets is a nice addition that will take some skill to get gud at. Overall, for the cost of the starter and a conversion kit, I am very happy with the upgrade to the game. Thanks FFG for a smart transition to 2.0.
  7. I have played a LOT of various minis games since I started in HeroClix when it first launched 15+ years ago. HeroClix has had its ups and downs as sets changed. Carded figures had their ups and downs. But for me it collapsed under the weight of its rules set. Haven't tried the new rules though. For the players in here with Mechwarrior collections, checkout ebay and dig out some of those Uniques and LEs. They have held their value reasonably well. Don't know the last time I saw the game played, but as collectibles, you might be pleasantly surprised. If you want to compare to another 2.0, check out Monsterpocalypse. PP will have their 2.0 at GenCon. But they have made the new figures a different size and are not compatible with any of the 1.0 pieces. Now, MP has been fallow for five or more years so the comparison is not entirely fair. But as a casual X-wing player, I am reasonably happy with what I have heard about 2.0. I hope the A-, B-, and X-wings get a nice upgrade to make them a more viable option in organized play. I can pick up a conversion kit for my Rebel force and sell off the parts I don't need or just get a handful of upgrades for my Rebels related pieces. Guess I'll make up my mind after GenCon when I see exactly how it works. FFG is doing a lot right. I just hope they can break up some of these card combos that are taking piloting and die rolls out of the game. If they can do that, 2.0 could be even more successful than 1.0.
  8. Thanks for the neat ideas. Trying to get back into the game and These are all ships I already own and like to fly.
  9. You are not alone. I dropped in on Hoth Open at the last minute with a newish to me list. Only won one match. But I scored points every round. So it was fun. But now with GenCon in three weeks I am considering if I even want to bring my X-Wing to Indy. There are so many new ships and strategies that I have no idea what they do. It's the curse of a minis game. It's easy to fall behind the new hotness.
  10. I followed the game when it came out loved the game engine but was not interested in a Star Wars game. Then TFA came out and I got into Rebels. When I heard the Ghost was coming, I got in. But I needed to focus my collection for monetary, bandwidth, and really only wanted to play Rebels. So I got a starter and traded off the Ties for more X-Wings, picked up some A-Wings and a Rebel Aces. I am reasonably happy as a casual Rebels only player. Some of the more important upgrades have not made it into my collection yet. I did strip the Autothrusters from a Starviper, but a friend was playing Scum and it helped him out. That new Shadow Caster is very tempting, though.
  11. Gonna have to run this sometime when I get enough game to try the Big Base again. Thanks for sharing.
  12. Having some friends over for a low-key game of X-wing. Was thinking it might be fun to run a variation on a scenario I ran for another game. Each player brings three ships at different build totals. First ship under a set point cost, Second a build total a little higher, Third a build total more than the other two. Each player starts with their first ship. If that is destroyed, they launch their second ship from either a random or chosen side of the map. Then if the second ship is removed, launch your third ship. Not being that experienced a player, my first thought was 20 points, then 30, and a 50 point ship last. Save the big bases and unique pilots and crew until the last ship. Or are there better point totals that would be more fun. The idea is that if you get knocked early, you have an advantage over the other players. If there is a better forum for this Topic, I would be happy to move it.
  13. Tried a similar list. But it was Norra PtL, Kyle, R2-D2, AO, Vectored Thrusters Jan Ors Wired, Ion Turret, Kanan Ahsoka Sabine Wren, Sabine's Masterpiece, EMP and Thermal Detonators. Ahsoka died in the first round of the game. The other two worked really well together. I liked having the Stress from PTL and when I shed it I got a free Focus that was useful for the target lock. What I felt like I was missing was that the HWK would shoot first, then get stress from Norra's shot to boost that. But I'm not giving up PtL for VI. Next up for me is to look at some other ships to add to this list as the Tie is just too fragile for my play style.
  14. How about useful cards from the big ships? Those Astromechs from the Rebel Transport would be nice.
  15. Like this list. And could run a similar one indefinitely. Except for the two Astromechs from the Rebel Transport. Hope FFG puts out Alt art on them as OP support sooner rather than later. My only concern with a forever list is if it turned out to be a list you can't play well. I started the game running A-Wings added B-Wings to support them all ahead of running the Ghost. But, that big base is tricky to fly. So I picked up an ARC, E-Wing and Z-95 and had a lot of fun flying them. Does that mean I want to sell my Ghost? Nah. I'll git gud eventually. Or play them for fun. Best of luck to the OP with their Forever List. I prefer my minimal collection with more combinations that I could ever hope to play.
