Press F to pay respects.
(obvious sarcasm, but also... ugh. I hate that game).
All Legion does for me is to continue to make new minis for Imperial Assault. I'm hoping every model in Imperial Assault comes to Legion so I can completely use higher quality Legion models.

You don't consider Death Troopers (boy do i hate that name) and ISB's to be Special Forces?

I would definitely have thought not but I would have thought the same of Palpatine before he was released.
Reasons why I think he may be incorporated are:
- He is an iconic figure in both the clone wars and the galactic civil war.
- He is obviously a fan favorite.
- He would provide a strong force centric jedi character to the Rebels that seems to fit their playstyle.
Reasons I think he will be skipped:
- There are already a TON of rebel jedi characters now and i can see them focusing more on heroes from Rogue One and such instead.
- He would be old (even for Yoda) by the time of the game.
I wasn't a fan of Palpatine's inclusion, and I am not a fan of Yoda's inclusion. He does not play a part in the Galactic civil war, other than to train Luke, and he isn't someone who'd be on a tactical, squad based, combat scenario. I know the skirmish people want him, because more plastic, and more meta shake up, but I don't.

That's why I haven't even invested in one of the packs with doors and 3d crates/terminals yet. They look great, but they're frustration waiting to happen the second a figure bigger than 1x1 enters the battlefield.
The acrylic smoke doors available from Etsy are my favorite additions. They are much easier to deal with than the 3D holders, and won't tip over as easily as the default clips, and, they look great.

Maybe FFG should use this as a template for their Worlds Battlemaps and let the winning players keep a set.
That's the biggest problem, is space. It is a pain enough to store all the flat tiles.

I just came across this thanks to the power of targeted advertising. A company out of the UK called Room 17 games has created this Tenfold dungeon project:
This is a great concept for IA Maps. Especially take a look at the Miremarsh Swamp Glade. That is some beautiful artwork simulating outdoor terrain. Of course, it is mainly for fantasy dungeons, but you'll see they are offering sci fi doors, and some SciFi nurnies for their "Facility" tiles, which seems like something suited to a game like Space Hulk or something. I personally would love to play IA inside 3D rooms like these.

In fact I only bought IA for the campaign play and since I'm a pretty bad painter and more so lazy I just swapped out all of the miniatures with painted WOTC miniatures and my game looks much better. Even more so because I have miniatures for Han, Chewie, Royal Guard champion and rebel troopers instead of tokens.
There are a number of WotC figures that can be used for civilians and prisoners in the campaign as well.

When I was inventing my 2D6 rules, I was working on it with GI Joe in mind. I actually started with a game called "Tier 1" that was a bit like Space Hulk where one player would play 4 members of a Tier 1 Special Ops team like Delta, or DEVGRU, or SAS, who would conduct raids on various maps against an opponent playing the insurgents. The old quality vs quantity game.
-
Some of those miniatures appear, to me, to be 3D scans of the Wizards of the Coast models.

Do you think that, by that time, it will be on sales?
Why would it ever be discontinued? It could just be frozen in time with what we have now, although I believe there are more expansions coming, with just the app.

Move only recently dipped into IA skirmish and already I see the same problem with the meta that plagued XW1.0. Meta driven by power creep is ultimately bad for the game.
60% of Regionals winners (not entirely sure this is true so don’t sue me if I’m wrong) played Specter Cell. That’s bad for the long term health of the game.
Dynamic point pricing of units would go a long way to fix that.
When you say "fixed" I think you mean resets. IA 2 would just reset the meta with a quarter of the pieces and as more pieces are added, at the demand of skirmish players for a constantly changing meta, and need to for their "new plastic" fix, would quickly do to the game what you are lamenting, because that is ALWAYS the way it works. Nothing about the campaign is broken. The campaign doesn't require balance. The app can make temporary changes to units on the fly. X-wing was a pure skirmish game and the same thing happened that always happens, certain units are more useful than others, and since winning is more important than role playing, those units get over-utilized. You can change the meta by adding more figures and/or command cards, or deployment cards, but it will just change the units that are most viable to a different set of units, and then those units will be over utilized.

We all fear Lothal was the last pack were gonna get & once the app is fully updated to all the campaigns that's basically going to be it. At this point we think the IA app is more or less a "live beta test" of something else they have comming down the works and they want it perfected before the roll it out there.
They did similar stuff with X-wing components. (Mobile / Bullseye arcs)
I'm pretty sure we'll get and Endor/Kashyyyk pack. That's wishful thinking on my part, but I hope. Otherwise, I'm happy for new campaigns on the app. I have been buying some of the Legion miniatures for IA, because Legion is a mess.

Stuff like X-Wings, Y-Wings, etc were generally made by third parties and either secretly sent to the Rebellion or outright commandeered. Stuff like the Nebulon B Frigates were even stolen and modified Imperial tech.
It's not like they were living in the Stone Age, but they also didn't have the dedicated Military Industrial Complex that the Empire had. Nor was what they had simply scrap, it just came from a more varied array of sources. There was really high quality stuff, like Mon Cal cruisers, but there were also some more "improvised" weaponry as well (for instance, IIRC the Rebels used modified CIS stuff like the hailfire droids).
I guess I wouldn't see a large Rebel offensive using one of these speeders, but a small cell might modify one for a mission. If anything, this almost feels to me more like an IA thing than Legion.
I don't disagree with you. The funny thing about Legion, is that with that scale, they really can't have the kind of battles they purport to be trying to have. It should have been a smaller scale in order to accommodate AT-ATs and whatever Rebel ground vehicles they came up with. It's like trying to play Armada with X-Wing scale miniatures.

52 minutes ago, Pollux85 said:I looked at it as more "Wow, the Rebels are reduced to using some beat up old junky speeder." Which is totally believable.
Is it? The Rebel Alliance wasn't some Al Qaeda style guerrilla group. Note the line from the scene in Star Wars where they are arguing on the Death Star. "Until this battle station is fully operational, we are vulnerable. The Rebel Alliance is too well equipped. They are more dangerous than you think." In George's original ideas, even his original crawl, the Empire came from outside the Republic. So whatever was lost to the Empire of the core of the Republic, there were still plenty of systems resisting the Empire, which caused them to want to build the Death Star in the first place. It represented, basically, the threat of nuclear weapons against a military organization that didn't possess them. Rebel equipment, like the X-Wings and others, was technologically superior to the lower-tech high numbers equipment of the Empire.

I think the tank is an ugly model and Luke's old speeder with a gun on the roof is hilarious.
Yeah, it is pure fanservice. Even Luke complains about how old that speeder was. So Luke was driving the equivalent of a military JEEP? The model is good quality, and it has an insurgency feel about it, but I don't like that they use Luke's speeder.

Hoth is iconic to the Star Wars universe and I am sure holds a special place in Star Wars fans’ hearts. Return to Hoth at this point is an older campaign box, but it has some cool units in it (HKs, the tank, Snowtroopers, all three of the Heroes are awesome). Leia is also the Rebel that was heavily involved with the campaign, with the main villains being Dengar and Sorin. Dengar and Sorin might not be a huge pull, but I think Leia might be in terms of the campaign “leads”. It is also the only box with snow tiles.
As it is an older box, there are likely quite a few players of IA that do not have the box. Having an app campaign would likely be a good incentive for these folks to buy into the Return to Hoth campaign.
Hoth is probably my favorite single expansion. And, yes, I agree the Campaign app does help to encourage the purchase of expansions. For instance I didn't finally break down and Purchase Jabba's realm until news of the app update surfaced.

Thrawn is a Chiss and thus more immune to cold than your average humanoid. He'd be a fine pick for snow related missions. Maybe Hoth tiles can be used for Csilla.
-
Just because the app campaign revolves around Hoth, doesn't require Hoth expansion heroes to play it. Also, all the supply cards and gear that are part of your collection can potentially come up in the Freedom Fighter campaign, which just uses core tiles. Anyway I like the idea of using Sorin as a proxy for named Imperial Officers. That's good. Maybe that's what FFG should do instead of keeping adding 'new' figures, add proxy figures. Like a pack of Black Sun mercenaries that you can substitute for Wing Guards in Jabba's Palace. I was tempted to break out my Black Sun Vigos from Star Wars miniatures when that happened. Also whenever Greedo spawns, I think of him as just another of Jabba's Rodian security forces that you see in the special edition of Star Wars.
I certainly wouldn't mind a heart of the empire campaign. It would be nice to have it be mostly on manufactured terrain, rather than natural. I think it should be a Bespin-HoE combo, because Bespin has some good tiles, and it doesn't necessarily mean you have to go to "a the one" Bespin when using them.

That's a good point. I'll bet that is true. Still, now that it has been discussed, I think all uniques should be scripted, even if it means getting LOLcats. I don't have the Lothal expansion yet, so I don't have that problem, but I was getting jet troopers like mad in the last Jabba play through. That is fine though. I only got one Ugnaut through the whole campaign and he spawned close enough for Vinto to turn him into a meal in one turn.

I guess they have to roll out all the planned expansions before the game loses the public interest.
While FFG keeps focusing on Legion, we are all here waiting for a new IA wave announcement, hopefully Rogue One, Rebels or even Endor. I don't care so long as they keep the game alive and shake the meta
Especially for how much I hear people having trouble finding anyone playing it. Seems FFG is really depending on Legion, and maybe it sells because it's pretty, but it doesn't seem like it is taking over the tabletop world.

When wars are fought on sunny tropical beaches, they never seem like it at the time of fighting. More like jungle-fire, sun-blocking black smoke, blood-soaked beaches.

That would work provided he's not part of a box expansion. I don't have agent Blaise, nor do I want him, but the app regularly puts him in my games because I own Bespin. Same with Palpatine. Even though he isn't included in Heart of the Empire, like Jabba, he's completely integral to his respective box, and I didn't particularly want him in the game either. This will likely be a problem when I get around to buying Lothal, which I want, because I want Zeb and Sabine like I want another Rian Johnson trilogy, which is to say not at all.
