Version 2 and 3 from @cnemmick's skirmish fix
I can't stand these abilities that remove dodge. I hate reading the posts that whine about dodge. Oh, don't get my wrong. It is absolutely annoying, but so is rolling a blank when you are trying to survive. It is an integral part of the design of the game in having two different defense systems.

My assumption (and I'm assuming most others, but that is just an assumption) would be for him to be comparable with Jedi Luke, IG-88, Han, or Vader (which may not all be perfectly the same level, but in that ballpark).
I don't think he needs to be as powerful as Luke or Vader. I mean many of his love him, but he doesn't have to be a tier 1 character. I would rather he show up in a lot of lists, rather than a list being built up around him. It just a matter of cost. If you simply changed his cost to like 8, he would cost appropriately. If he is going to be a 13 point character, then he needs more ability. As I said in the previous post. Just making him a vehicle would help out in Skirmish. If you added vehicle and brawler to his keyword list, that would open a lot of cards to help him.

For one, his cost should go down. For second, he needs to have the keyword "vehicle" added to his keywords. Also he should have all this abilities instead of choosing. With those changes, and an appropriate costing, he becomes a viable figure. I don't need Boba to be the bestest evar, but he needs to be costed accordingly. If you study Ezra, who has many of his same abilities, Ezra is demonstrably more powerful than Boba, and only costs 7 points.

if we don't get anything new for this game let's improve it and add to it ourselves!
I'm somewhat of a technomoron but I propose maybe a website where we can seasonally or bi-annually vote on 3 or 4 new deployment cards as a community and then have them be legal (by our agreed standards) for local comps and whatnot. These cards could include fixes (buffs), nerfs (definitely starting with SC) and totally new figures (using either Legion stuff, WotC stuff or other 3D printable stuff).
Something like this could keep the game going a LONG time and keep it fresh and fun and we'd all have ownership of the direction the game is going! What say you?
I reckon priorities would be:
1) Boba Fett fix!
2) RGC fix?
3) SC nerf (maybe just to a focus like was discussed elsewhere)
4) something for Rebels (preferably in the core box, like Fenn or Gaarkhan, or even Diala).
I say if we don't have anything new by May the Fourth or around there we could vote some new "community approved" fixes in!
We could even let Brett choose one himself since he won the worlds and FFG might not give him that chance after all. Dunno.
I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm, and it sounds like a great idea in theory. I, myself have ideas for fixes. The problem is gaining community wide acceptance. When I look through custom cards, I see a lot of OP cards based on people's biases for what they liked in the films, and not based on game balance or even game need. There is something to be said for the company declaring the rules, even if they aren't always how we'd create them ourselves. I guess it doesn't matter anymore, since it doesn't seem like the company is keeping to strict testing either.

Oh, they didn't it. I was the same thing. The best few lists were played by all the top players at big tournaments, and the finals were regularly mirror lists And I hated it. I'm one of these crazy people who prefer fun and theme over min-maxing.

4 hours ago, NeverBetTheFett said:Oh It's very obvious they are super focussed on building Legion while neglecting IA. I guess they think that we'll buy any Star Wars they push on us? I'm not saying Legion is a bad game, although I have zero interest in it, but to get in right now would cost a fortune in time and money. They are making it clear that IA is not a priority and perhaps we have not been reading the clear writing on the wall. It will be interesting to see how they react to this past weekend's clear broken meta. Over half of the best players in the World brought SC and the all SC final is a bit embarrassing for the game. Call it what you want, but it's an embarrassment. I feel bad for Todd as he seems super can cuffed and really on his own. I'm not sure he can handle that.
So yes, SC needs to be nerfed. Simple as that. I'm happy for them that they sold their Disney inspired fake Star Wars bull-sh-it, but move on. Nerf the card slightly. It will be banned from all tournaments I T.O. from now on until then.
I've always thought that mirror lists shouldn't be allowed, going back to my Star Wars miniatures days.

2 hours ago, NeverBetTheFett said:Agreed. I've been a big cheerleader for this game and the last year has been disappointing, even though the game has been great. Do they not want to make money? I think if they had more resources, we would not be in this mess. They really act like they don't care and that there are no plans to continue this game.
As competitive players, we are our own worst enemy. Personally I would NEVER bring a stupid meta list to a tournament. People who brought SC knew what you knew @Mandelore of the Rings, that SC is near impossible to beat, even with a perfect game. So, if you can't beat em, join em? I personally would not be proud to win a tournament with a meta list, one that requires very little prep or skill. All of you who brought SC will not get a congratulations from me. It's legal. So, now FFG can make it illegal and we can move on from this.
I remember specifically being told by FFG designers that the negative talk on here is being noted and that the company views it as motivation to not improve the game. Specifically that people keep complaining about it dying. So, apparently being positive doesn't do jack shi-t either since we've been pretty positive and yet they choose to stay quiet other than to drop a few bread crumbs. FFG seems almost completely uninterested to plug this game. I don't blame them. If I were them and I invested so much money in Legion, I would minimize it's competition. Euthanize their old.
I know I'm not the only one, but Legion is just not the game for me. So, they will definitely lose some sales. I'm also not interested in X and I think Armada is leading towards the same fate as IA. That being said, I like the outer rim game, but I'm told it's a rip off of Firefly.
I went through all this with WOTC Star Wars minis. It is the inevitable course of skirmish games because publishers are not interested in creating a healthy game, not that they are totally at fault, they interested in selling merchandise. Why do you think all of FFG games have non-standard dice? And/or include some supplemental card system to the rules. It makes it so people need to buy stuff. X-Wing and Legion are far worse than IA in this respect, which is why IA isn't getting the FFG love we'd like it to be given. The other side of the equation is player demand. "Stale, meta" they say. The constant demand for the next box, the next units. Those units have to have their special thematic ability which "changes" the meta. Now, look, one box sends the whole Jenga pile to the table. Just like SWM, the continued infusion of more characters does the exact opposite what people claim they want; it makes the new characters mandatory and the old characters obsolete. The lists narrow rather than expand.

43 minutes ago, Weatherwax2099 said:The frustrating thing is, Spectre Cell could have been a great prototype for some skirmish upgrades going forward if it hadn't been so overpowering. Upgrades that could make a set of lower tier figures stronger, especially based around certain types or theming could really invigorate some figure types or lists that don't see a lot of play. I'm imagining something like a Bounty Hunter upgrade for the six (obviously it would be included in the Zuckuss/4 Lom set
) or something for Imperial Heavy Weapons and Vehicles, maybe even one for each of the campaign villains.
Maybe, but none of the Spectre figures were in any way "weak." Ezra is more powerful than Boba Fett at half the cost. So adding a damage and a block to every character, as well as add free attack once a round? Yeah, not sure how this wasn't immediately spotted in testing.

In one of their recent articles found here, which is about the new hyperspace gamemode for X-Wing, they link another article, from when they first announced the new gamemode. This was in January. I read throigh it and found this section really interesting.
I just though this was interesting and that FFG knows we don't like stale metas. Remeber, rebellions are built on hope.
I'd prefer some edits to the available products. To keep adding more plastic for the sake of shaking up the Meta bugs me. It makes me hate the skirmish side of the game. Stale meta is a way of saying, "we know there enough customers who will buy whatever we put out so long as it is new, that we never have to worry about making the pieces that are available, viable." I'd like to know why Boba hasn't been fixed yet? It never leads to where they say it will lead. They just keep infusing units, like in X-wing, until its broken, and then they release a new version to get you to rebuy the game.

There's no arguing that IA releases have dropped off since Legion became a thing, and since Legion does not involve a campaign, it likely requires less development time than IA does. So, while there is a huge list of potential IA material that COULD be developed, there's no indication that any of it IS being developed. While Legion has a new release every month or two. I prefer IA, don't have legion, and want more content just like everyone else. My hope just keeps going unrewarded...
Indeed. Legion is just a more expensive hobby version of Star Wars miniatures from WOTC. I'm sure down the road they'll be a Mandalorian pack.

I had a thought about creating a Hub world, that the heroes travel to inbetween missions. I was thinking of using a Skirmish playmat like Ancorhead Cantina or a jabbas palace. I already have been using the idea of Spaceship combat to try redrawing side missions. and that is working well. maybe it could be in cooperated.
Though i need some ideas.
this area, will be for purchasing weapons, and xp. (rebel upgrade stage) maybe even re-spec'ing your hero (for a cost) maybe you could do some gambling, (using attribute tests.) to get coin. or maybe even meet and talk to locals, to get certain side missions. or re selecting side missions.
does it have a round limit? could i have enemy encounters? bar fights? stormtroopers storm the place? bounty hunter comes to claim?
any ideas and discussion will be great.
*the idea came to me, when my players were purchasing weapons in my campaign, and a weapon didnt come up for a hero, and they were pretty frustrated. so i said 'you can see this merchant is pretty slow, Diala (the jedi) roll your insight to try a mind trick on the store vendor. how ever many successes, i will draw an additional card. '' they rolled 3 successes and then their attitude changed. it was a fun bit of roleplaying and i want to try more of it.
Have you been playing Shadows of Brimstone, lately? I kid. It isn't actually a bad idea. One thing I like about the app is that there is a sort of Hub world, as well as missions that are based solely on attribute test, like an impromptu dog fight. I think those kinds of random events, like are in SoB, and which I enjoyed (mostly, if it wasn't getting me killed).

You'll fine that skirmish players hate swing-y. They already loudly lament the existence of a 1:6 chance, that may come once or twice in a game, that enables a character to dodge an attack , thus disrupting their carefully laid out damage per turn calculations. I'd also ask, what if a character doesn't have a yellow die? So some character will not benefit at all from this mechanic. This is especially egregious in combat. The mechanics already take dodge into account, and if you are on the losing end of a no-x-roads streak, a white dice character potentially takes a lot more damage than, so attackers with yellow dice in their attack pool, or characters that choose their attack dice, are suddenly at a significant advantage that was never figured into play testing.

4 hours ago, TylerTT said:Yeah tell that to the Zulu. Winning a battle is more then possible, a whole war less so.
Also Ewoks are smart as heck, they mastered gliding and thrived in an extremely hostile environment. And lots of other arguments I have made before.
Ewoks represent the silly fun and “stupid” of the Star Wars franchise and honestly Star Wars is bone stupid in the best ways, if you have yet to accept that then well I may question your overall maturity.
In terms of costumes an Ewok uses fake fur fabric where as a Wookiee uses a bunch of wigs hung on a net. I imagine a Wookiee costume is orders of magnitude more expensive then an Ewok.
The joke about Ewok costumes was just that, an ironic juxtaposition based on the height of the Ewok vs the Wookiee. Yes, the Zulus one "a" battle against the British when they ambushed 1300 men who were guarding a caravan with 20,000 ZULU warriors. The British were using 7 shot, breach-loading rifles, and still killed thousands of Zulus before they were overrun, which took most of the day. Still, that is not apt comparison. While the Ewoks may be the technological equivalent of the Zulus, the Empire would have been the equivalent of a modern infantry battalion. The Zulus would have never prevailed against semi-automatic, magazine fed rifles. Especially if the Brits had a couple APCs with them. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the film, and if you want to call it "stupid" fun, that's great, but then why try so vehemently to defend it? It would have been much better if it would have been Wookiees who were a technological inferior society, but who employed the same weapons as their enemies.

28 minutes ago, Uninvited Guest said:Well... the official story is that shooting the scene with the Wookiees was cost prohibitive. I’m not sure which I believe, but I know which I’d prefer to see.
If it did then I’d say it’s a good thing timelines were thrown out... he wouldn’t be allowed in any campaigns set after that.
Cost prohibitive doesn't seem outside the scope of possibility. I mean, in satirical terms, Ewok customs are probably...half... the expense of Wookieee costumes.

I think that's a great setup. Have the IA heroes doing the work that went into preparing for the film's heroes to do their jobs. Also, I don't even think we need Endor. I would rather see a post ROTJ "Freedom for Kashyyyk" box that would provide Endor-esque tiles, without inserting the IA heroes into the movie narrative. Scout troopers would just as viable a unit for a Kashyyyk expansion as an Endor one. Ewoks were originally going to be Wookiees anyway, until George decided Teddy Bears sold better. The old video game Galactic Battlegrounds, the Age of Empires clone, had a campaign to free Kashyyyk, and it was probably the best campaign of the lot of them.

I think an Endor box set before the Death Star II briefing in RotJ and leading up to the Battle of Endor would work nicely. We could have rebel troops searching for info and eventually finding the base on Endor.
Will it require Mak to be present?

They represent the split that has always existed in Star Wars between technological might against the natural will of technologically disadvantaged species. (Luke shuts off his targeting computer, forgoing tech in favour of his natural instincts. Luke looks at his own mechanical hand in abject horror of portend in Return of the Jedi. The Ewoks are an extreme realization of this theme in Star Wars.)
I'm a fan of the technologically inferior underdog, but Ewoks take it to far. Even as a teenager, it was too much to suspend disbelief, to see stone-aged teddy bears taking on space aged shock troops. They win only though the power of plot armor, and because seeing the cute, toy sale magnets, being wiped out faster than plains bison, would be terrifying to the kiddies.

I enjoyed watching this video. I like themed games instead of everyone minin' and maxin' cruising in car you spent all day waxin'. You made good use of scenes from Rebels. Good editing overall, the game was easy to follow from a spectator's point of view, minus the microphone going out a little after midway. I hope to see more videos in this style. Oh, I very much enjoyed the use of Hondo as a neutral character. That was good use of the bidding mechanic, a mechanic I've liked since the TSR Marvel Superhero game I played as a teenager, and Hondo's a good choice seeing as he can siphon back some of the bid VP's.

Depends on which WOTC Boba Fett you are looking for. The original Rebel Storm B-Fett and Boba Fett: Bounty Hunter are expensive, yes, but there are a couple of others , like Boba Fet: Mercenary that is much cheaper to acquire.

13 minutes ago, Cusm said:It just sucks that they are not the same scale. FFG could have increased sales of both games by making the same scale and having players from either game buying alternative models. I have too many unplayed mini games to jump into another mini game so I skipped Legion.
IA miniatures have been creeping up to Legion's size. I've done a number of comparisons. If you base them on IA bases, and not the thicker Legion bases, they are not that dissimilar. Some are. I'm hoping Legion eventually creates all the same minis that are in IA, that way I can have figures in the same unit with different poses, which I like.

I know it is hard to believe, but there are still newcomers to this game who aren't as familiar with the product as those of us who haunt the forums... like me.

Suggestions/proposals for Community voted Boba Fett Fix

I get it, but I think pierce is over used as well. We are getting to the point where we may as well not even have defense dice. I hate going back to Star Wars Miniatures, but it went from a very elegant game to one that each attack took 10 minutes because everyone who would ever end up on a list had either a gimmick; or Double Attack with Twin Attack, some ability that gives you a 50% chance to dodge, and if it was a force user, some kind of force point regeneration. Also, clear Luke dodged B-Fett on Bespin 😃
