  1. I hated what Abrams did to Kirk. It was vile. Nicolas Meyer had never seen Star Trek before, but he had the decency to go through every episode before choosing Space Seed on which to base his epic Star Trek The Wrath of Kahn. Meyer got Kirk right in every way, from the arrogance to the brilliance. Abrams got everything about Kirk wrong. It was like Abrams looked at the top 50 reason why Kirk is better than Picard list that was bouncing around the early internet and decided that is what Kirk was. Not only that but his process for bring all these cadets together to form the bridge crew was laughable to anyone with a modicum of knowledge on how a Military organization functions.
  2. I know it isn't canon, per say, but in the ESB novel, the probe droid dispatched a Wampa with ease. I guess he was an Elite Probe Droid.
  3. Don, I often like your posts, but you are reading far to much into the bad writing. Rey does things because the clunky plot requires it. Abrams proves he's no better than Lucas in that regard. Even if he didn't write it, he didn't reject it and directed it as written. As Obi Wan says after tutoring Luke, "you've taken your first step into a larger world." It doesn't mean Luke could suddenly beat Obi Wan. He darn sure couldn't beat Darth Vader on Bespin, even after spending time with Yoda. Vader smacked him around with impunity. The only reason Luke survived was because Vader desired to capture him. Kylo was a force user who had beaten other force users. Whether or not he complete his training is irrelevant. He had far more training than she did. Having the "A wizard did it" as raison d'être actually causes more damage to the movie, in my opinion. Abrams was lazy. He could have created much more compelling ways to move Rey along, but he choose ways that were illogical, and nonsensical. It was no better than the way Lucas forced Qui Gon and Obi Wan through Ota Gunga and to Tatooine, so they could collect their wacky cast of characters. The whole concept runs counter to basic script writing. The hero should have agency. They should move themselves forward because they are the hero. Heroes that are along for the ride are not compelling, which is why in his short portrayal, Po and Finn were much more relatable characters.
  4. The plot abilities of Rey are insignificant compared to the stupidity of the Star Killer weapon, and flying through the shields at "light speed"
  5. Probe droids have a vehicle mounted weapon. This guy has a pistol. I was skeptical of 3 dice, but since everything is based on surges, it isn't as bad, plus he seems pretty squishy. His pistol is stronger than a vehicle mounted weapon than. Since blue is weaker damage wise than Green. "...and being that his is a DL44 magnum, the most powerful handgun in the Empire, and could blow your head clean off. You have to ask yourself. Do you feel lucky, scum? Well, do ya?"

  7. Apparently he and Mak have some latent force abilities...Or else enough combat training to still make good use of it, a la General Grievous. This gives me my first opportunity to invoke Fandom's Law* * The more a Star Wars based game expands, the probability of "force users" overrunning everything else approaches one.
  8. I had no problem with Diala. I thought she was the right mix of post Jedi era force user. I'm starting to sense a disturbance in the force however, as Rebels is already piling on the glow bats and it will inevitably ooze into IA. There should be a new law. Fandom Law, the longer a game based in the Star Wars universe progresses, the chance of "force users" (i.e. competing glow-bat wielders) overrunning everything else approaches one.
  9. The former seems to fit his character. A hit and run insurgent leader.
  10. Okay okay, but cut to the chase already: is he romance-able? My consular say, "Once you trando..." Or something like that.
  11. Rey and Kylo are the new "Solo kids". No, Rey is not Hans daughter, but I'm pretty sure she'll be related to Luke. Star Wars has become very blue blood.
  12. I would express it as, KOTOR did a good job of developing some of the established races. Their take on Wookiees wasn't half bad, and in my cases there was at least an attempt to portray some representative of the species outside of the confines of their normal single culture. Except for Trandoshans. I never saw them, that I can think, ever being anything but lizard-y shock troops who like to quote-unquote hunt.
  13. A lot of old storytelling in Star Wars was like that for a while. Large broad generalizations made off of tiny moments. This one alien guy was a certain way? Every member of his species must be just like that! etc. Yes, you are very correct, not only that, but so many planets are single Biome. A staple of science fiction and space fantasy, along with the simplistic representation of an alien culture. It reminds me of the elevator ride in the original Mass Effect when you take Wrex and Kaiden. Kaiden is a human and says to Wrex, a Krogan who considered a warrior race, "I haven't spend much time around Krogan, Wrex, and I must say, you're not what I expected." Wrex responds, "Right, because you humans have a wide range of cultures and attitudes, but Krogan all think and act exactly alike."
  14. The whole xenophobia of the empire is based on nothing. Two reasons, Star Wars was filmed in England, and the extras were English. Second, the one scene in ESB where the deck officer says "Bounty Hunters, we don't need their scum." To me, that was a sentiment directly against these mercenaries, not at aliens in general. It must have been a hit to his pride that DV was going outside his own organization for help.
  15. It is beyond cringe. It is writhing at this point. Still after they turned Mandalore into Switzerland, minus actually being able to fight if they need to, nothing that Filoni and company does surprises me anymore.
  16. Dude, FFG and Disney dont care really about what you want/feel based off what Ive read thru in most of your negative posts.BUT you want to know whats great about this game? If you dont want to include Rebels in your campaign, you dont have to. If you dont want Ewoks to show up, you dont have to. If you dont want any Force Users except the original 4 (Twins, Obi, & Vader) you dont have to. If you dont want any of them in your skirmish armies, you dont have to use them (sure youll prob face them) but YOU dont have to use them and can stick to your "ideal" Star Wars universe. So quit your griping. NOW, the main question about the Rebels exp box, is whether theyre going to make the main 6 Rebel team, the playable heroes, or make them ALL just allies... ~D That is an interesting question. Having them in the campaign as allies would most probably mean that they'd be tokens, but having six separate ally packs for them seems a bit unwieldy - that's two waves' worth in itself. Making them heroes in the campaign would make sense from an SKU standpoint, but would break the 'no established characters' convention for heroes. A possible consideration would be making them token allies in the campaign, but releasing the figures as a bundle ally pack in a format we haven't seen for IA yet. I'm thinking of the large clamshell boxes like the X-Wing "Veterans" or "Most Wanted" packs. Alternatively, as I pointed out earlier, there is a possibility that this hypothetical expansion won't be 'all-in' Rebels themed, but just set in a roughly equivalent time period with cameos of the villains and secondary characters, in which case not having the show protaganists as figures at all might be a possibility. That would be a pretty shrewd middle ground for FFG to take, in order not to upset anyone about the Rebels content. Fans of the show would get a bit of their fix with the Inquisitors, Kallus, Ahsoka, Mandalorians, Rex or whoever else, while detractors would be spared the burning agony of having an angsty Mary Sue teenager with a laser slingshot going around wrecking entire battalions of Stormtroopers. But then again, I have some doubts about FFG deciding to plant themselves on the fence about this. You had to remind of this fact, didn't you.
  17. I've definitely become a You Disney punks stay off my lawn. I'll admit it. I'm a Star Wars plank owner. That means I watched it as 8 year old in 1977. I have been invested with Star Wars in some way or another most of my life. I've always loved the property. I've hated certain things, but rarely to I get to the point where I just outright reject something. KOTOR was great because you got to experience the Star Wars universe without the problem of lore. I think this is why many liked the EU. The Clone Wars starting flirting with tolerances by bringing it this tween brat to be Anakin's apprentice. By the end they had salvaged her to a point of toleration, but there were other things, like reviving Darth Maul. That was pure fan ****. Overall though, I had a good impression of the Clone Wars following its ending. I was excited for Rebels, until I saw it. Then I just sank in my chair at the badness that was this program. The new movie just stunk. Stunk bad.
  18. Oh, I didn't realize Mara Jade was in X-wing? What is she flying?
  19. I prize my Kir Kanos Star Wars miniature figure. I would love if he was in IA. I'll bet Kir didn't survive the great Mouse purge. Though Kir's interceptor is in X-Wing, no?
  20. If it were up to me, I'd do two sets that were themed for Jedi. One big, one small. I don't know if I want to see a scout trooper on a speeder bike. IA's map size don't lend themselves to vehicles very well, imo. The AT-ST works ok, but they are not fast. Anyway I would like see: Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight Rebel Commandos Scout Troopers Emperor Palpatine Zuckuss and 4-LOM (just to create my BH set) Weequay Mercenaries. Gran General Rieekan (gotta have some more leadership) I'm sure I could think of some more, but that is the essentials. I don't care if Ewoks every come, but I know they will.
  21. Yeah, Greedo has a surge with 3 accuracy. LOL, i know he never shot in Star Wars, but still, you wouldn't think Greedo would have +3 accuracy. I love the sculpt though.
  22. Can't wait to get Bossk. EDIT: Just notice that all Bespin stuff has disappeared from Amazon. I wonder if this relates to their new selling rules.
