  1. Which is why I suggested the Skirmish angle, since aside from the Junk Droid I don't think any of the other companions are usable, which means that the factions could gain cheap 1-3 point units or an upgrade that allows the spawning of the companion and they could also include the standard command cards. Now if you just wanted to play the campaign you don't need to buy the pack, but if you really like playing skirmish you might want the pack for what it might open up in regards to the skirmish game. Besides if they made a generic Salcious B Crumb, aka a Kowakian Monkey Lizard, it would be funny to see them teamed up with Rancors like some sort of symbiotic relationship. The idea being that the companion could be used to harass other figure giving them conditions and such while the Ranor lumbers over, and when one monkey falls you just use an action to spawn another. But I know this is sort of a stretch that they would release something like this, though it would be cool if they did. They pick the insects off the Rancor's back?
  2. Good point. The thing is, about Star Wars, is that we the fans have elevated it so far above what it was in our desire to play in the sandbox and establish a contiguous lore, that honestly has been far more contradictory than contiguous. I digress. Lucas, who wasn't much for traditional movies, loved Flash Gordon serials, and that is what he was trying to emulate. In serials there is not reason for things. Things just happen to move the plot along. You see that in Star Wars. Lucas and his writers gave no [bleeps] about continuity, and we, myself most assuredly included, twist ourselves into intellectual knots trying to explain it.
  3. Usually I post these proposals with no cost, because I like to work out the details first, and then decided the appropriate cost. So we can ignore cost. I don't look at Mara as a brawler. Her survivability shouldn't be wrapped up in her health. That isn't to say I'm unwilling to raise her health, I'm just saying the cost I posted it pretty much arbitrary at this point. I definitely considered cunning. Then it started looking too much like the original mini. I still wanted her to have a lightsaber strike, I just didn't want it to be the focus. I'm going to consider all this and redo the card tonight.
  4. Blaster Barrage comes from her original, Rebel Storm, Star Wars miniatures card: I wasn't going to use it initially but as I re-read the wookiee article and tried to re-familiarize myself with the character, I realized he was just as good with a blaster as a lightsaber, she is kind of unique in that way. Really, she's defined more by her blaster and poison blade than by her lightsaber, but because everyone, except me, wants to define Star Wars by the glowbat wielding cheddar monks, anyone who has ever held a lightsaber is seemingly defined by it. Now, I agree Force Shroud needs an improvement. It needs a better name too. I think you are right about the surges, DarthBahamut, I think one surge is probably the correct call. Now, about having 3 dice. That's a tricky one. I'm loathe to get on this current tangent where every unique is going to have 3 attack die. I can see it creeping in. That being said, I understand. Maybe a yellow dice would be the way to go, I'll have to crunch the math on percentages of one and two surges on Green-Green and RGY. I'm open to any names for this escape ability.
  5. You can get a Star Wars miniature for R5. And you could repaint an R6 for a junk droid:
  6. I know in Rebellion the Falcon had .5 speed, which meant twice as fast a 1 speed ship, and it took 7 days to go from Yavin IV to Corellia.
  7. I hear you, but the cave did provide an opponent. Maybe it is also possible for a training holocron to furnish one. It seems the idea, at least originally, was that attunement with the force is what guided the weapon, not a mastery of physical melee combat. I keep hearing that as a defense for why Rey could best Kylo.
  8. Thanks A1bert, I didn't even consider that with Blaster Barrage. You make a great point. Hmmm, I almost want an Imperial Officer to be able to trigger it again. I think i did intend to make it an action, since that would replace her attack. Thanks for the heads up, that's the kind of criticism I'm looking for. So, as far as making her "hit and run" it seems the suggestions run towards "run and hit". I think, maybe, she should have some ability similar to Davith that allows her to disengage after the hit and get away. How about some variant of Fell Swoop where instead of being able to attack again, she gets more movement. Something like {surge}{surge} After this attack resolves, become hidden, and move up to 4 spaces. Then make Blaster Barrage an action. How does that sound?
  9. The books say, for that's worth, that he used holocrons at Obi Wan's place.
  10. I got squashed on this map. The dice were completely again me at the start. I used Fenn too, but this was the second mission, and he isn't very upgraded. But let me make sure I understand this correctly. When a door is not locked to a faction, they don't need to interact to walk through it, correct. I know there is one map were Rebels can shoot through the door, but we were playing that the door didn't hinder Imperial movement. The elite Stormtroopers and the officer came rushing down ended up taking Mak completely out of the game by the time the Royal Guards showed up. Like I said, bad dice. I never thought to camp the spawn point, but I will try that. Still, in this case, I don't think it would have gone my way based on how much damage I took early on due to bad rolls. Also the Imperial player brought in Heavy Stormtroopers. I assume it is ok to bring in a unit from Twin Shadows in a core mission open group. Those royal guards with 5 speed and their ability to separate and guard two different non-guardian units makes everything hard to kill. Maybe we'll try it again.
  11. Good post Abyss. Still, I think Mara Jade would have been a far better addition than the Grand Inquisitor. At least Mara was alive during the the time of the OT, and basically filled a similar role.
  12. I don't know why I always thought of Mara as a sniper. I guess I was incorrect. So I like Strike from the Shadows. I think that works well. So we are looking at her as and infiltrator that carries a blaster pistol. How about something like this: {action} Blaster Barrage: Perform 2 {ranged} attacks using 2 green dice. Each attack must be against a different target. Targets within 3 spaces gain {strain}. So we get rid of priority target, since she is not a sniper. I still like Force Shroud, but maybe not by that name. I'll see what others think. Of Patrickman's ability bar components. I don't like recover for her. Maybe if it was tied to an action and not just a surge. I know Diala has it. I think, after re-reviewing the character, I'd remove Focus from mine and add an evade, rather than a block. Being that she isn't a sniper, I'd still leave the +1 ac, +1 {damage} but I would remove +2 accuracy. Maybe change it to Weaken, or Bleed. Since Diala and Davith both had two dice, and +3 pierce is automatic for Mara is we use Strike from the Shadows, then I think it is probably more prudent to go back to maybe RG for dice. I suppose as long as it is costed appropriately, she can have 3 attack dice. Being RYG would be like being perpetually Focused.
  13. In a 1997 Star Wars insider pole about favorite characters. Mara Jade broke into the top 20. She was the only non-film character to do so. She was wildly popular among female fans as well.
  14. I was forced to do it. All this talk about her and I had to try my hand a loving recreating her. I'm sure it will spark debate, but as with Greedo, it will only lead to a better, more balanced figure. This is not my best work, artistically. It was a bit hurried. I was running out of space for her abilities too. Constructive criticism is always welcomed. Edit: Added Version 2 upon suggestions. Credit to Patrickman for his Strike From the Shadows idea.
  15. I seriously doubt she is going to get in love in IA. We can hope. I have two Mara Jade Star Wars miniatures. Maybe it is time for a custom card to see how the community thinks Mara Jade should be constructed.
  16. Out of curiosity, when the door went down did the imperial player choose to give extra health to the terminals or close the door? Extra health to the terminals. It wasn't easy to knock off seven points I can assure you. I agree that the roll of the dice great influences the outcome of many missions.
  17. I just did it last night. I used Biv, Mak, Jyn, and Fenn. I was doing it so I could write about it in a fictional form. Anyway, as was said, you have to keep moving. The dice did go with me in the beginning and we managed to cripple the existing forces in round one and make big gains towards the door . The imperial countered by using threat to restore 1 trooper to the 1 remaining the squad. I managed to finish off the patrol, get the crate, and then be ready for the E-web. Biv got perforated by the E-web and the troopers coming out of the supply room. He was already damaged, and now he was wounded. Mak and Fenn moved foward. Make took a shot at the E-web, doing some damage, while Fenn began shot the terminal. The crate did give us the grenade, so that was good, as it would come in handy later. At the start of round 4, Biv charged the E-web and took it out with close and personal. I wish I would have been able to shoot a different target after that. The Stormtroopers "killed Biv off" Fen hit the group with blast, and Mak finished the terminal while Jyn fought a probe droid coming in from behind. Anyway, I killed the troops and Mak and Fenn rush in. It was in round six, after using a grenade in 5 to kill an officer and cause damage tot the terminal that Fenn and Mak were able to finish off the terminals. It came down to Fenn's final shot and managed to get the two damage he needed. I think it ended with Jyn having 5 damage. Mak having 4 and Fenn having 10. All were strained out by that point.
  18. Jabba does look like Humpty the Hutt doesn't he?
  19. This is my interpretation as well. His cost wouldn't be justified otherwise.
  20. I don't disagree. I think that will come back in the Endor box. That should be largely Imperials.
  21. It is a little out of scale, but so are AT-STs. That's going to happen. Still, if you look at those hands around that dumb Mandos body, it is just about the same size as the one that grabbed Luke.
  22. As a side note, I can see X-Wing people getting a bit backhurt about their new wave. It's pretty arguable that it's 'awesome'. The Kylo shuttle is nice, but come on. A repainted TIE-Fighter based on one specific appearence in a kinda dumb plotline from Rebels and a ship that's seen literally in a couple of frames in TFA and it's not even flying. They're really starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for content. I fear that is going to start happening in IA too. Got to keep cranking out new product though. They could start being like D&D after this and just release new terrain tiles and scenarios. We don't need miniatures from every expansion. It's not something you should fear to happen, it's inevitable. No matter how vast the franchise is, there's a finite amount of meaningful content to mine from Star Wars. Eventually they'll either run out of it or stop releasing new content. But to be fair, I think we're still a long way away from that happening in Imperial Assault. There's still a lot of places you can go to with just OG Trilogy stuff, not to mention Rogue One or Rebels. It's also much less limited in scope than X-Wing, which can only do space battles and only a specific subset of space battles at that. It isn't so much that you can't find new characters to make miniatures of. Heck, Star Wars minis did like 600 different miniatures. It is how much you can do at this level of granularity without power creep kicking in. That's what I'm more afraid of. I hate to sound like a hippie, but it would be nice if I could use my figures for a long time. I fear soon we'll just have re-releases of the same characters who are more powerful. That was the vicious circle that was SWM. I used to love skirmish, but as you said, this turns the skirmish meta on its head, and this game lives by skirmish, not by campaign. I wish it was the other way around. Frankly I would rather they just end the OT stuff and just start over with the Prequel era. I don't want to see a bunch of units added, like jet troopers, that are just fillers because the company has to launch a certain number of miniatures per expansion. Where the heck did they get jet troopers from. They are basically making Arc troops for the OT era, and very disposable ones.
  23. Funny, I actually think she looks the coolest of the 3 new heroes. She does look the coolest of the 3 heroes, which adds further sadness too it. I am happy to have a Rodian hero though. I played a Rodian for the entire run of Star Wars Galaxies.
