  1. Desss-ti-neeee is such a lonely word... No IA again today....
  2. As I said, I am very hard on both series. I was very, very unhappy with Maul's return, because it's so George Lucas to lament a mistake and try to bring the character back in some way. And it was Lucas that ordered Filoni to bring back Maul. Again, all that being said, once you accept that he did survive, as impractical as that is, and it is, he has some pretty decent story arcs. When I saw him return in Rebels I groaned, loudly, but even within that same episode, he showed some potential. I'll reiterate what I said before, his manipulation of Ezra is very well done. I was all but ready to abandon Rebels at that point. Ezra was a horrible character. The animation was horrible. Sabine was absolutely insufferable. After Maul entered the picture, and before Thrawn became a major villain, Maul's season 3 arc salvaged the whole show. Ezra became a better character, and while I still hated Sabine, even she became a better character. Sorry if my thoughts are disjointed, I have a bunch of stuff going on.
  3. I'm as hard on Rebels and TCW as anyone I know and I enjoyed the Maul story in Rebels quite a bit. A little less so in TCW, but I hated Savage Opress, so that may have had something to do with it. I just wish Rebels animation was as good as Clone Wars was.
  4. I didn't particularly like Maul in TPM. He was not at all like Darth Vader. The problem was that TPM didn't have much of a villain. Sideous was lousy and Maul was ok. The lightsaber fight was good when I first saw it, but later I realized that it was over choreographed. Still better than that abortion that was the fight in RTS. Now, that all being said, I was furious when they brought him back in TCW. I thought was a horrible mistake, and it was, but, he turned out not to be too bad and even later on he had some decent episodes. I hate and still hate Savage Opress, not only does have the laziest name in fiction, he was nothing more than Darth Maul 2.0. Later in TCW as the animus developed between he and Obi Wan, i started to relax and be more interested. I was really unhappy when they brought him back in Rebels, but he's on par with Thrawn as a villain, and his arc where he manipulates Ezra in order to find Obi Wan both saves the show for me and saves Ezra as a character. Other than the standoff with Obi in the desert, my all time favorite moment was when Zeb, Sabine, and Hera think they are getting the jump on him with a brilliant plan and he smacks that crap down, and them, in a few seconds. I was like "Go Maul!".
  5. So I was messing about thinking what I'm going to do with the Stormtrooper from Legion with the side arm.
  6. A hulking, angry Aqualish would be a departure from the normal alien fare, I'll grant you. I wouldn't mind it.
  7. It really was a cinematic masterpiece, though it was cribbed right from a scene in Seven Samurai, it was still epic. I was so happy it wasn't a long drawn-out action fest. As I said in my previous statement, Maul has been a good villain. Much better than Grievous. Killing him in TPM was a mistake. He should have escaped and been the central bad. Can you imagine him manipulating Anakin the way he did Ezra, and then trying to use Anakin to unseat the Emperor, only to find out that Sideous had already anticipated it and counter corrupted Anakin to take his side when confronted. ROTS could have had a Maul v Anakin fight and then a Obi Wan v Anakin fight. All this crap with Dookie and Grievous would have been unnecessary.
  8. Force ghosts are non-corporeal and at no point in Star Wars (yet) have any of them returned to physical bodies. I would have thought it better writing to have him come back in another body, rather than survive being cut in half and thrown down a deep shaft, ala the Emperor. Instead it was more like Star Wars the 13th where Maul keeps dying and coming back the next iteration. Now, that being said, Maul has had some decent episodes. I think his inclusion in Rebels, while I initiated hated it, especially since Boba Fett, who is alive and active in this time period was purposefully left out, turned out to be one of the brighter spots in Rebels writing lore. Still, it was stupid that he came back not just for Clone Wars, but then again for Rebels. I still prefer him to that horrible, useless, General Grievous.
  9. I just started the app campaign yesterday. I'm using Biv, Fenn, Jyn and Diala. I had a blast with the first mission, especially when Diala avoid Vader's brutality with some white dice railroad crossing love. Biv was "withdrawn" bleeding out and defending the others as they fell back into the base, shielded by Rebel Fleet troopers.
  10. I don't know if it changes from game to game, whenever he is attacked because of slow on the draw, he gets an extra black defense dice, and then the target looses 1 defense die, which for most characters is their only one.
  11. What happens when Jyn's holster adroitness meets Greedo's tentacle fingered attempts to procure his firearm, but the app includes a caveat that Greedo gets an extra black dice. Here's how I resolved it, let me know if it is accurate: Greedo activates. Jyn shoots because quick on the draw precedes anything else. Jyn shoots again because of Greedo's slow on the draw. Greedo gets an extra black dice. Greedo shoots, Jyn does not defend with her white dice due to the caveat of the app.
  12. Oona goota, Solo? So, I haven't had a chance to play the app since it first came out. Tonight I uncovered my table, got a Guinness and sat in my comfy chair ready to try out the first mission of the campaign. After numerous troops, including an E-Web, Elite Stormtroopers, and an Imperial Officer emerged from the jungle, I was informed that an ominous figure was approaching. And then out popped Greedo. It was like something out of Robot Chicken.
  13. If it were my office it would be my Fender USA strat, black on black with maple neck, and my whale bone blue PRS SE.
  14. I thought I put in this thread, but I guess not. Here you go: http://combatzone-scenery.co.uk/Games/IA_Skirmish_Sets
  15. Yup, they do look like they fit. I mean, a lot of people use thicker custom bases anyway, which are usually thicker than the standard base. Looks like I'll be buying some Stormies and Rebel Fleet troops for some much needed pose variety.
  16. That's a negligible difference when you raise the IA base to the Legion base. Also Sorastro told me on YouTube there is roughly a 4mm difference in Stormtroopers, but I don't know if he was comparing them this way, or with both bases flat on the table.
  17. http://combatzone-scenery.co.uk/Games/IA_Skirmish_Sets Even though they are called IA skirmish sets, I think they are better fro campaign.
  18. There is better custom 3D stuff out there that costs a lot less that is designed for IA tiles.
  19. I don't know what everyone's fascinition with black stormtroopers is. Is it the cool factor? I mean, I remember when i loved the black painted scout troopers in SWM that were some kind of Imperial Special Forces, but honestly; in the granularity of the game, what are death troopers going to be, other than a slight modification of plastic? More slightly expensive Elite Stormtroopers?
  20. I can see the idea of Veteran Clone Trooper as a hero. That would actually be like Royal Guard Champion, you can play him as Carnor Jax or, more rightly, Kir Kanos
  21. I'm waiting for some pics of the stormies side by side.
  22. Some of the fan made maps for SWM were great. The Millenium Falcon was one of my favorites. Also, there is the inside of a large space ship map that is very well done. I've used it before for playtesting my own game rules. And, once, I used it in a special scenerio among friends where we took a bunch Rakgouls and some Alien eggs from another game and recreated Awful Green Things from Outer Space.
