Will we ever get a new ****ing article....
Rikalonius replied to Yogibaer13's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
I had no idea who BT-1 and 0-0-0 where when the blister came out. Someone told me and I went to explore this Dr. Aphra comic and was so, so very sorry I did. Sorry to those who like it, but it's absolute crap. I kind of dig on BT-1 though. Still, not excuse for those characters to be released instead of Zuckuss and 4-LOM. -
He was much better in TCW than he is in Rebels. He's too much of a clown in Rebels. I really liked some of his episodes in TCW.

If you go back through my posts you won't find much bigger a Rebels detractor than me. But you are incorrect on both these counts. Is the violence less D-Day in Saving Private Ryan? Yes, but overly graphic violence doesn't make something adult, anymore than sex does. I find a lot of so called adult shows that feature gratuitous sex and violence to be the opposite of adult, they are juvenile; designed to appeal to prurient interests rather than serving the story. The Hera/Kanan will they, won't they relationship, culminating in Kanan's final sacrifice, is, frankly, better than Han and Leia's short romance in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. I'm not saying it was bad, it was decent. We all remember I love you, I know, but it wasn't all that deep. Rebels, given its format, has much more time to explore that theme, and it does so more deeply. Rebels started out very badly in my opinon. The first season, and most of the second season, were crap, but it got its stride towards the end of the second season, and did a great deal with it for the remainder of the series. If you want moral ambiguity, I point you to Maul's attempt to manipulate Ezra away from Kanan and to fully embrace the dark side. Maul force chocking the inquisitor, goading Ezra to strike her down, and then throwing his lightsaber in anger when he didn't do it, is a dark as anything in rogue one. His subsequent gas-lighting of Ezra in order to trick him into leading him to Obi Wan was a very good arc. And then, Thrawn. Thrawn was even better in Rebels than he was in the Zahn books. If the animation had been better, the final two seasons, save some still silly stuff, would have beaten out almost any of the live action films. -
I agree the style tokens are unnecessary. They could just use the tokens that already exist. I don't like that character anyway, so no chance I'll play her. I do like the retired Clone Trooper, so far anyway. I'm hoping the campaign is worth while, so I'll probably get it. I can foresee, however, I'll be having to use the Ghost crew tokens, minus Hera, because I refuse to buy Sabine and Zeb, or Kanan and Ezra.

I agree, and I've made the point before when people say they want Tarkin. They are fleet level commanders. I don't think Palpatine should be in it either, nor do I think Yoda should ever make an appearance, but people want their favorite characters. I'm still looking forward to Thrawn, however. And you can make a case for it based on Rebels. Also, Noghri would have made a better edition than Loth-cats.

I think it's cosmic. She doesn't look like a devaronian.

Ah. Good point, they did just seem to come around in season 4. For some reason I thought they'd been around before that.

I've been playing IA for a while. I like it. It's not perfect, but it has a lot of good. I've watched a few videos on Legion being played and it doesn't interest me. As Albert said, IA is three games in 1. Legion is a game for people who are big into the hobby aspects and want to do table top wargaming. Without all the terrain, the maps are going to be boring. It works perfectly for X-Wing, since they are space battles. The concept of an empty table with just a few barriers is not going to be exciting enough to play very often. So that raises Legion's price point. So I would still choose IA to this day.

I'd hate to think there are only 3 Death Troopers, but based on ugnaughts is makes sense. Though i can't see the need for 6 lothcats. That's actually 6 more than I think there should be. Why Lothcats and not Lothwolves?

I understand what you are staying, but I fundamentally disagree. First, we are not children. Second, the whole reason people played West End Games Star Wars, or D&D, or Champions, or GURPs, or any other table top RPGs was to create their own characters. And if I can't create my own characters I'd prefer heroes who don't have backstories so I can create my own for them. The Universe of Star Wars is huge, why play in a tiny corner?

The Animation is so, so bad. I took me a while to be forgiving of it. It didn't help that the first season was such pandering fan service by adding in all the established characters, even if it doesn't fit. However, by the end of the second season i was starting to like every other episode, and then I really got into 3 and 4, though they are not all gold. Some are still schlock. It would have been so much better with TCW animation level. -
I do not want to play established heroes. Never once. I like IA for giving us generic heroes than can live inside the universe. Why would you want to play characters whose stories are already established? That's lore breaking. I guess that's me coming from a long history of table top gaming.

Oh, ok, that makes sense for the campaign. I forgot there will be a skirmish version. Yeah, i wasn't thinking when it said "token" to be the hero activation tokens. Thanks.
-
Can someone speak to "Patience". Does that mean for each rebel unit exhausted, he can distribute a mystery token?
-
Also, I don't care if they call him CT-1701. He will be CT-7567 to me.
-
Quintus Varus, give me 4-LOM and Zuckuss!
-
Looks like the creators of IA want to go down that route. I don't recommend it, but I can see that with the granularity of the game, if you need to make 1 person standout from another, then you have to have some kind of special mechanic.
-
I'm happy for Thrawn and the Death Troopers (because I know that was a big demand from everyone). The Rebel hero with her cybernetic kung-fu is weak. Just what we need, more chits and a more different mechanic.

I think this is trying a bit to hard. I like the concept. I think it might better served as a Twi'lek Bodyguard and not Oola herself. Isn't Distracting equal to + Evade? Why not have +2 Evade? But I would keep it at 1 Evade. I like Seductive Dance, but why should she get to move and use it? I would say it should be a double action. Maybe call it "Fluster" or "Bewilder". I would word it: Choose a hostile figure within 4 spaces that has not activated. That figure is considered to have activated. Cannot be used on Droids or Force Users. Keep the Non-Combatant. Rather than Duck and Cover, make it similar to Sentinel, only have it grant Evade, rather than Block. While a friend non-Guardian, etc. Also, Mobile? I know Twi'leks are flexible, but they aren't super-powered jumpers that can spring over walls like flying objects can. The card is getting a bit to full for 2 points, but you could use the Efficient Travel ability of the Echo Base Trooper.
