That's what I thought with Agent Blaise, and then the app made me dig out his token and play him anyway.

Because it makes zero sense thematically. It is only good for skirmish, where people don't care about such things, only more plastic and new abilities.

It's FRIDAY!!!!! Who will we see spoiled today??

That's a good point. What if the small box campaign is the prelude to a larger app campaign. It seems allies show up much more in the app. -
Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM

4-LOM gets a 6" Black Series figure. -
Is this game still being made?

I think an admin needs to pin a thread on this subject. -

I can't argue with having Kir Kanos as a hero. Personally I would had some great armor as on of the 3 XP cards. -
List of Revealed Tyrants of Lothal Components
Rikalonius replied to brettpkelly's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
I understand that in principle, but is that what happens. I can understand it with a lightsaber, Jedi are supposed to be a little super powered (though not Force Unleashed level), but even so, the ranged characters do not hit as hard and they are far squishier once you get to them. In the old paradigm, ranged is like a glass cannon, but in many games they are glass, but they lack the cannon. I call it the Rogue-Ninja problem in which melee characters are more powerful than their ranged counterparts. It's like the video series World of Roguecraft where a guy sets out to deconstruct how rogues were, at the time, better than very other class. I suppose it is fine if they are costed fairly, but I'm not sure that is always the case. I'm sure I'm wrong, because I don't have the mathematics savviness to break it all down, but for Tress' cost, she looks cheap in comparison, especially given her ability to recover. It's like they wanted to make Wolverine, but couldn't. -
List of Revealed Tyrants of Lothal Components
Rikalonius replied to brettpkelly's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
This is not a specific complaint to this game, but what is it with table top gaming and this idea that melee hit harder than people with guns. So I have a question. If this (Tress) character rolls 3 surges. Does that now mean they can cleave for 3, recover 3, and then apply either weaken or stun? -

Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM
Rikalonius replied to Budgernaut's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
Yeah, I heard that about The Last Jedi too. I won't believe anything until I hear more trustworthy sources. Ron Howard is a good director. Rush, Apollo 13, Heart of the Sea, and the Shootist are some of my favorite films. My daughter loves Curious George 2. Also, we know Ron did Star Wars the way George imagined Star Wars should be before Executive meddling gave us what got in 1977 (thank goodness), also known as Willow. So if anyone wrangle a decent story out of the Disney's attempt to ruin it, it is him. That being said I won't rest till Therm Scissorpunch is added to the game. -
Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM
Rikalonius replied to Budgernaut's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
The thing is there have been several books and comics involving Zuckuss and 4LOM. This is why old school fans want them. I'll say it again, we have BT-1 and 0-0-0 which have zero screen time in anything, but are only in a comic series. They aren't in Rebels, or Clone Wars and they have no history of EU appearances. They were also popular in Star Wars Miniatures. I can't explain the draw. They've even had Robot Chicken episodes made about them, and they are **** funny. I've liked Zuckuss for a while, so maybe that's why I'm so passionate about his inclusion. -
Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM
Rikalonius replied to Budgernaut's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
It's a fair point about them being Mercenary faction. I forgot about that aspect. But to your second point, where are BT-1 and 0-0-0 in the movies? So if both are based in alternate canon, I think they are ever bit as viable as potential characters. At least Zuckuss and 4-LOM have been around since Empire, they weren't shoehorned into the OT timeline in the last couple years. -

Crix Madine would make a great addition to the Legion landscape. -
Will we see Zuckuss and 4-LOM
Rikalonius replied to Budgernaut's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
BT-1 and Triple Zero should have been Zuckuss and 4-LOM. The wave was Hera and Chopper, a Jawa, and two ersatz eeeeevil C3PO and R2D2 that most people have never heard of from one of the worst Star Wars stories I've ever had the misfortune of reading. Zuckuss and 4-LOM would have fit perfectly in that wave. -
So you are suggesting a new box that functions as very expensive scenario for campaign players, but is really a self-contained skirmish reboot that makes all other IA miniatures irrelevant, but gives a full set of "teams" for 3 or 4 factions? So essentially you want a skirmish only IA core? I think A1bert has it more correct. What I think we need is a new box that takes all existing cards and tries to up their viability.
-
Legion is IA second addition for skirmish. If there was ever a second edition I'd hope it will be campaign only, like Descent. You are right about the entry cost, they are super high... for skirmish. Skirmish was originally secondary for IA. I wish it would have stayed that way. With the app, however, there doesn't even need to be a second addition, because the app can make changes to enemy abilities with just a small update.

Rikalonius replied to FSD's topic in Star Wars: Imperial Assault
Yeah, there is something sacrilegious about not putting out any Star Wars news on the 4th. It isn't over yet, but... ****. -
I must be one of the few people that like the dodge, and it has plagued me too. I think it was a good mechanic at the time of release. Now we have so many character that have 3 attack dice, and some type of extra damage, that people just lose their minds when their ultra attack is stymied by the dodge. I say, good. That's the way it should be. Combat is chaotic. There are plenty of, too many in my opinion, mitigating rules against it now. Most characters that are long range shooters don't have more dice, they have built in accuracy. The game, to me, seems fairly balanced on this front. After all, a Barret 50 does a lot of damage at a long distance. I think the right balance of hard hitting weapons is weight, i.e. slowness of movement or requiring that a unit cannot move and attack in the same action to simulate setup.

I was actually talking about X-Wing 2E.

How is that going to change? The problem with most table top competition games, and I see it here, is everyone keeps wanting something new. I don't blame FFG for offering all this plastic because people seem to have an unending thirst to spend their money on something "new" which continues to screw with the meta. I know the word power creep is verboten around here, but that is exactly what goes on. New plastic with new rules that make old plastic obsolete, except in certain circumstances where a piece has enduring value, and then every list has it and every list that doesn't have it wants a copy of of it. Star Wars minis, the original Rebel Storm, was a pretty good fast and easy system. But the desire for more characters and the desire of WoTC to reap in the cash, led to constant introductions of characters that outright broke the game. The rules got extremely convoluted, and turns would take forever because there was always twin attacks on double attacks with everyone having some kind of save. The game became drudgery. I don't play X-Wing competitively, but it seems like if you take the initial rules, the game is quit quick and fun, but once every ship has multiple cards it starts to become tedious. Maybe a reset is what is needed, but all I see is it reset and then going right back to the same problem.

I agree with this. The second I saw the article, the song Send Me Your Money by Suicidal Tendencies started going through my head.

They have more comic and are in more novels than BT-1 and 0-0-0 the evil C3PO and R2D2 of that gawd-awful series with Dr. Aphra. They have no screen time, and have never had action figures outside of the miniatures for this game. On top of that, this is a game about tactical combat and it includes Ugnaughts. They really represented battlefield type characters in their brief appearance in Empire.
