  1. https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/8/16/come-see-us-at-gen-con/ Their GenCon news article mentions many games but Descent is not one of them. If anyone is at GenCon and gets a chance, it would be interesting to ask some employees/staff about Descent. My guess is that they'll say something like "We have nothing to announce at this time" or "No comment".
  2. It's tripping me out how this thread is going on simultaneously here and at BGG...
  3. Congratulations! This looks fantastic! I'm interested in professionally printing this for my own use. I'll probably wait for a few point releases (1.2 maybe?) to let kinks get worked out. Does anyone have any recommendations of online locations that can print this? Would it be possible to have the pages printed at 432 mm x 303 mm and then folded and stapled together (basically, a book version)?
  4. Another option if you're looking for a quick reference: Direct link: http://www.orderofgamers.com/downloads/Descent2ndEdition_v7.pdf Author's site (with B&W version): http://www.orderofgamers.com/games/descent-second-edition/
  5. Hey "FunkheaD", I've been playing RTL with my wife. Some thoughts/suggestions. My wife likes playing games but we're not big board game geeks. When we play, we are usually pretty free with re-rolling particularly bad rolls We play on the easy setting as we're going more for fun. If you guys enjoy being defeated with higher frequency, you may enjoy the harder difficulty (I haven't tried it). We've been playing with 2 heroes each. While this is fun as you have more options, the downside is that there are more/harder monsters and things just take longer. If you're concerned about the pacing, you may want to attempt 1 hero each (remembering the 2-hero advantage of an extra attack or healing each turn). This would keep things moving faster. I would recommend a Warrior and a Healer. The Knight's Advance skill is pretty invaluable as with two players (and 1 healer) attacks are less plentiful and more important. There are several good options for healers. Again this is up to your discretion. I might suggest playing the short campaign first on your own so you can reacquaint yourself with the rules and specifics so you don't have to keep halting the game with your wife to lookup rules (though, of course, it will still happen). To speed things up, I find this rules summary pretty useful. Lots of good links here including Zaltyre's excellent Glossary of Terms and Guide To Range and LOS. Yeah... I bought most of the expansions as well. I added a few of the boxed expansions. The nice advantage there is that you'll face a wider assortment of monsters. Downside is that many of the monsters won't be painted Adding an expansion also adds optional sidequests that may randomly become available as you play. Closing thought. I started playing with my wife on the regular "Shadow Rune" campaign. This was sometimes frustrating for both of us as we at times felt that the other player's actions or abilities "were not fair". This problem is totally mitigated with this co-op mode so that's super nice. We've had a pretty good time playing together though we've been taking our time. Thanks! trevorade
  6. This is on a Mac. After traveling to Tamalir and quitting the program, upon reloading, no side quests and are not made available by City Actions or Waiting 1 week.

  9. I realize the relevance here may be a bit of a stretch, but there's a game on Kickstarter right now designed by Kevin Wilson who designed the 1st Edition of Descent. It's a resource management game set in the world of Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson (also my favorite author). Just wanted to post this here in case it happens to interest anybody. You can read more about it here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/craftygames/mistborn-house-war/description
  10. Is this normal? The only time I've ever had to assemble any miniature was when I bought the Valyndra Lieutenant Pack (I had to stick the wings in... and let me tell you, the right when did NOT want to go in...)
  11. 15% off at http://www.coolstuffinc.com/p/224661 (Looks like they lost their cheaper shipping option though. For me, this ships for $7 minimum) At CoolStuffInc., these usually go for 25% off. I'm assuming this is a function of it being brand new. It's possible that Asmodee is prohibiting them from selling this product cheaper than that though. Time will tell.
  12. https://youtu.be/Cx8sl2uC46A?t=57 I generally do option 1 (and I kind of hate it), I'll try out your approach!
  13. I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but, once FFG wraps up their Descent expansions, it would be awesome if they released an expansion pack, similar to the Hero and Monster packs, but if it just contained miniatures that replace tokens already in the game. They've done this with the Lieutenants and some of the Allies, but there's more to be done! Here's what I'd like to see: 8 Villagers (4 men, 4 women) (Base Game) 1 Reanimate Familiar (Base Game) 3 Summoned Stone Familiars (Lair of the Wyrm) 1 Wolf Familiar (Labyrinth of Ruin) 1 Desmond Ally (Nature's Ire) 1 Raven Flock Servant (Manor of Ravens) 1 Scourge Servant (Chains That Rust) 1 Brightblaze Familiar (Bonds of the Wild) As a bonus, I think these could be made into miniatures. These are a bit more single use so I'd be less crushed if they skipped these. 1 Desmond Ally (Nature's Ire) 1 Cardinal (Shadow Rune) 1 Tyrus (Heirs of Blood) These tokens aren't really appropriate for miniatures, unfortunately: Shadow Soul Familiar (Shadow of Nerekhall) (Occupies same space as other figures) Skye Familiar (Bonds of the Wild) (Occupies same space as other figures) Pico Familiar (Bonds of the Wild) (Never placed on the map) Here are my ideas for some other things they could include: Ornamental miniatures that would be placed outside the board or above existing obstacles:Boulders (1 space boulder replacements) Green trees Brown dead trees Stone pillars Hero sheets for some of the Allies (E.g., Desmond) A quest or two Did I miss anything? Have any other ideas? Thanks to any2cards for the list of proxies on the index of useful links page!

  15. Remains of last night's game. Two players each controlling two heroes. We used the laptop for the RTL. https://goo.gl/photos/VfNGYHS1Qg9qxNo88
