  1. That's actually not true. There are MANY eu examples where scum was highered or helped the rebellion or the empire. The TV show Rebels just showed Ketsu Onyo helping the Rebels on two separate occasions, though in the game she is scum only. If you want movie specific, look no further than Han Solo himself, or Lando. Keep in mind Han wanted to be paid and paid well by the princess. So thematically this happens a lot in Star Wars. Oh, I almost forgot, Boba Fett, 4lom, Dengar, Ig88 and more were all highered by the empire. Now as far as balance goes, I would hope that the creators thought of something like this when they created the third faction, but perhaps they were thinking on making a separate pilot card, like Boba Fett. If so, they need to release something like most wanted again with pilot cards for other factions or maybe something like this: https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/10/25/swm-draw-their-fire/ Yes, the Empire hired bounty hunters, but in the movies, we only see them hired for that one mission. In the EU, we see many more examples of mercenaries being hired for both factions. However, think of all the missions issued by the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. Do you really expect 50% or more of those to have mercenaries? I sure don't. Yes, it happens -- and not infrequently. But it is by no means something that happens all the time. I was even quite generous in saying 1/6 matches having a mercenary would be okay. I don't think the Empire hired mercenaries for 18% of their missions. The Rebel Alliance is a bit different because the Rebels themselves could be considered mercenaries and outlaws. But I would consider good guys like Dash Rendar and Han Solo to be squarely in the Rebel faction. That sounds accurate, but keep in mind Solo and Rendar didn't start out in the rebel faction and X-Wing seems to be taking things from the early days of the rebellion (when Solo would be scum) to the current movie (...where Solo would be.... well ehem). But they do have Imperial and scum cards for Boba, so why not others? We need some kind of most wanted thing where they put out just the cards for pilots. Might also help balance things better.
  2. FF is putting out a campaign for Armada where up to six players can play fleets and each conflict's consequences carries on into the next conflict. Luke died in the last conflict? Well you can't use him any more. Your ship got damaged, well that damage didn't go away. It also holds new pilot cards and obstacles (dust clouds etc) and even a map with places and systems that have unique things like ship yards. Now why can't X-Wing get that too? We sort of get that when we buy larger ships, but not fully. If they did release that, they could release pilot cards that cross factions like a scum Han Solo, or a rebel Katsu Onyo. Different obstacles like dust clouds also would be very much apriciated. Lately it seems like FF is pumping things out without a real plan. Perhaps pushed by Disney to put out movie content. I hope they get back to roots and fix the skewed power balance. A campaign box could easily do that. Not only would it give competitive players new balanced content, but it would give lots of enjoyment for non-competitive or thematic players. Feel free to chime in and sign this like a petition. WE'RE TALKING TO YOU FANTASY FLIGHT! ;-)
  3. Actually a very good idea ! I had similar thoughts myself not too long ago. Remember this - not everyone appreciates a good idea. When I suggested that it would be nice to get more Level 9 Pilots, I also received a lot of criticism. So much so, that I finally submitted to the naysayers (a mistake on my part, in hindsight). Funny thing was, not even a month later, my fun thought came true as FFG released a bunch of new Level 9 pilots - just like I suggested. Well done, don't lose hope and keep up the good ideas! Thanks for that. I know all my ideas are NOT gems, but that's why I put them out for discussion. The only problem is that some people don't know how to say, "that just wouldn't work", without jumping down your throat. I don't expect everyone to like my ideas, but there's pointing out flaws, then there's having a laugh at someone's expense. Most ppl on here are good about it like the above ppl, but I've had some reem me a new one(happened recently too), to which I just don't return to the tread. The best response for a fool, is silence. Best words of advice I ever got. Thanks again.

  5. Wow, double points would reduce overuse, but it may also remove the possibility of a competitive list.
  6. Nope. I specifically said, no scum only cards, just pilots.
  7. Things are sooo out of balance now, so no difference, but then I'm a rebel player, so I whine like the best of em'.
  8. Yeah, I know. Everyone has a suggestion, but I just wanted to share the idea, good, or bad. The idea is for a card that allows Imperials or Rebels to recruit one pilot to their cause from the scum faction. It wouldn't work well for imp to work for reb or vice versa. And it wouldn't allow for scum only cards to be used. It would allow reb or imp crew to be used on that ship. The title could be "Well Paid" or something similar. I just thought the scum faction was in a unique position to have a card like this, but I have no idea on cost. Can't be too expensive to be prohibitive, but it should be somewhat significant, like maybe 4 or 3. Just a thought. What do you think?
  9. Wow, these are really good. Hope FF listens. The X-Wing and Rebels need a big boost.
  10. Yep, I did miss the change to the rules. That's why I posted here. ;-) Thanks for the feed back. I'll keep trying... back to the drawing board.
  11. So I was thinking of Rey and Jan Ors Crew cards both on the YT1300 with the Falcon title and PTL. Rey says that you can assign a focus token, but it doesn't say it's a focus action. That being said, couldn't you assign a focus token from Rey, use Jan to make it an evade, do a focus action, use Jan and make it an evade, PTL and then do an evade action. You would then have THREE evade tokens and one evade die, making you untouchable. Next round do a green, rinse and repeat, until Rey runs out of focus. This would mean you could get a handful of rounds where you are the only one with a chance to damage your opponent. Take that Palpmobile! Or did I miss something?
  12. If it has to be done at high speeds, I give you the Droch-Class Boarding Ship.
  13. There are a number of ships that have been seen in the Clone Wars or in Rebels that have made it to X-Wing, but there are a few more I would still love to see. Mining Guild TIE Sentinel-Class Shuttle Nu-Class Transport This one could use the idea that no one seems to be bringing up "Bording Parties". A one use upgrade card that could be used on large ships after the touch causing a roll off each round until there is a victor for control of a ship. This would be an interesting counter to a Palp shuttle... or just be a dead boarding party. Luxury Yacht 3000 Auzituck Anti-Slaver Gunship/AKA the Wookie gunship This one was in both Clone Wars and Rebels. last but not least the Phantom II This one could come with a title card to dock it with the Ghost. Did I miss any? For the most part FF seems to source the movies first, then go to the toons, but with all this new stuff it seems like they'll never run out of ships to put out. Let us know if FF hasn't gotten to your favourite ship yet.
  14. I wonder if the OP is brining this up because of the odd thing that happens at the tournament level. If you take a look on YouTube for 2016 X-Wing tournaments, you will see a LOT of JumpMaster lists. Competitive players trend toward lists that get the best results in the most hands, or by the most players. This doesn't mean that there are not better lists, it just means that most players will do well if given that list. The competitive scene is a dichotomy of people who have fun because they like to win and people who have fun because the want to play more X-Wing. The people that play those lists that tend to do well in anyone's hands are the group that have to win to have fun. IMO if I was in a tournament and the only list I kept seeing was a simple variation on JumpMaster list, I would find it rather boring. I don't think the problem is with the rules or the new cards, it's the people who are so limited in vision. There are so many pilots that just are not used any more. FF has made a practice of making old ships relevant again, just give them time to get there. I'm sure there will be another Most Wanted type expansion pack that will change enough of the rules, or perhaps a campaign pack that will have upgraded versions to old pilots, that will change things enough for everyone's liking without needing to start from scratch. For now take a look at Wedge Antilles and add the new "vectored thrusters". I'd say that makes an old ship rather worth playing again, wouldn't you?
  15. Why not just use this: http://www.shapeways.com/product/YSQYP8HRA/armada-super-star-destroyer-executor?optionId=59741676
  16. I purchased an ISD recently and got 2 #10 tokens that are white, not one black and one white as is customary. This is an obvious misprint and I was wondering, has anyone else had this problem? I contacted their replacement parts people and they said: Current request status: Closed Note: Thank you for your request; however Fantasy Flight Games is unable to fulfill your request. Lighter-colored ID “10” tokens are common throughout the printing, and are not considered to affect gameplay. We are aware that there is a discrepancy between the images in the rulebook and the actual punchboard in SWM11, and we are looking to address this in future printings. However, we will not be replacing or exchanging lighter-colored ID “10” tokens for darker-colored ID “10” tokens. We appreciate your understanding in this matter. The token in question is not "lighter-colored" as they would like to suggest this isn't a case of one grey, one white, its two white tokens. Since their tournament rules seem to be so stuck on using proper parts or disqualification, you would think they would replace it. I have e-mailed FF customer service directly and will hopefully get a better response. I have heard in the past that FF is usually good about these kinds of screw ups, so I'm surprised by this so far. Are all ISD number tokens misprinted?
  17. I'm surprised no one has mentioned this idea. I thought of it for X-Wing first (large ship only), but it may work better here. Boarding Parties I haven't thought of the rules in Armada, but it should be high cost and cause a ship to either loose upgrade cards every round or damage or even cause a small ship to be taken/switch sides (only half strength). It should cause the affected ship to not have use of commands or defence tokens while this is still in play as the ship's command crew are busy dealing with an onboard threat. Perhaps this shouldn't affect large ships and have a lesser affect on medium ships, but feel free to fill in the blanks. A boarding party can only transfer when ships are distance 1 from each other. The boarding party card would be one use and have its own health causing each player to roll dice each round to determine who is the victor. Just a thought.
  18. Im actually pro-SSD, but I looked... ok, skimmed the first 20 pages and everyone was talking about width and length. I own the Starship Battles SSD and I have to say ITS BLOODY THIN! The Starship Battles SSD is about as long as Armada's ISD, but the ISD is soooo much thicker. Now if you look at the movie pics, you can see the SSD is thin, but it's overall size makes it still seem so much more impressive. This being the case, if you do scale down the size of an SSD, it will look odd next to an ISD. I think the only was to counteract that would be to put the SSD's width on a different sliding scale than its length, so that it's slightly longer than an ISD and slightly wider, so that it's height isn't such a glaring problem. In the end, it has to be eyeballed artistically, not mathematically, to give us a pleasing shape to the eye and have the familiar shape. Here are the Starship Battles SSD and Viscount (rebel counterpart).
  19. Fighters can easily be controlled and they already do it somewhat by saying you can only spend 1/3 your points. They could say no more than 130 points can be spent on fighters, that way the extra points go only toward ships.
  20. When new ships were finally added to Armada, we were able to make fleets of 300 points. When Fantasy Flight created enough ships, they increased the point totals to 400 points. Do you think Fantasy Flight will increase totals again, perhaps to 500 points, when even more ships are out? Currently an ISD (cheapest) starts at 110 points. That's more than a quarter of your points for 1 ship. It's possible to make a three ISD list, but without many upgrades or fighters. Should the point total be raised again? If so, what would be the cut off that makes the game unwieldly? If not, why is 400 points better? Are you struggling to make a list you would like to try, but just don't have the points to do it? Would greater point totals make Armada feel like a real armada? Or does the current total do the job well enough? Personally, I believe Armada's point totals could and should be raised to 5 or even 600. More than that and turns would take too long, but with the larger totals I believe more ships would be removed quickly as we concentrate our fire. Let me know what you think.
  21. Oh and another thing with the Raider is that it activates before squadrons and you don't need other ships to act as carriers. It's a nasty ship. Weak against ships, but a bane to fighters.
  22. Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you add "Rapid Reload" to a Raider I and get 3 black dice against squadrons? Two Raider I's, each with the Raider titles, and you should have a really good anti squadron death machine. Not to mention that they can fire once on each ship in a given arc and when done with the squadrons, turn all those dice against the rebel ships. Also the Raider at speed 2, has 2 yaw at both points! If you want something in arc, it's in arc. Never mind my first question. I just saw on page two of the rules ref. that "batteries" refers to attacking ships, not squadrons. Still even with 2 black dice, they should be formidable and you could back them up with some cheap squadrons.

  24. Is it just me or are the orange sleeves sold out everywhere right now?
  25. There are a some 3rd parties that could have capital scale ships. If you watched the Clone Wars animated series, you know that the Jedi asked the Hutts if the republic could move ships through their territory. They were also afraid to anger Jaba, because they couldn't fight the Hutts and the Separatist at the same time. This would lead to the conclusion that the Hutts did have capital scale ships as well. I haven't seen anything that would say what happened to the Hutts during the Empires time, but since the Hutts consider themselves business men, they may work with the imperials to some extent. We see that Jaba is alive and well during this time... until his unfortunate demise by a certain princess. There is also the Hapan cluster as well as the occasional pirate that had a capital ship or two or a small fleet. I wouldn't count a third faction out completely. It is possible to mine the EU for anything at this point. We may not need a third group, but it's always nice to see different things, and if you don't like the EU or a third faction, you don't have to buy it. Just says'
