Indeed, though that is the strategy that the player in question is interested in using - instead of getting a couple setbacks to the enemy roll from being in cover, he wants to completely retreat each turn and be out of sight completely.
Narratively I concur with 2P51 that it should all be happening simultaneously, but I wasn't aware of any actual rules on the matter. I think my player will be satisfied with a GM veto on narrative grounds, but I wish there were something explicit!

Hey everyone! Can a PC be around a corner from an enemy, take a maneuver to walk around that corner, shoot the enemy, then take two strain (or spend advantage on the roll) to walk back around the corner again? I don't see anything in the rules that suggests that they can't, but it seems ridiculous to imagine - essentially just strolling around the corner, shooting someone, then leisurely strolling back around the corner before anyone can respond! Naturally the enemy could run up around the corner, but if they're at Medium or Long range that'd be hard for them to do! Thanks in advance.

The Niman, Makashi Duelist, and Shi-Cho trees have a talent called "defensive training" that adds setback dice to an attackers roll if you are using a lightsaber or melee weapon. There are other talents, like Dodge, that do the same thing for strain costs. Would any of those do the trick?
Edit: double post for some reason, sorry!

I think the idea is to make lightsaber combat basically universally more difficult, though I brought up those ideas as well!

My players aren't yet built up enough to, say, square up against an Inquisitor, but for when they do, they've mentioned how it's strange a lightsaber just rolls against the usual 2 melee difficulty dice. They've posited examples like the Duel of the Fates and the Mustafar duel, and suggested that using a lightsaber to attack someone should use the opponent's lightsaber skill, if any, as the difficulty; I argued that because the system is more narrative, something like the Duel of the Fates could have been just one or two rolls, narrated as a large duel across the reactor chamber. Basically, in my players' suggestion, if an inquisitor with 3Y1G for lightsaber attacked a player with a lightsaber roll of 2Y1G, the inquisitor's difficulty would be 2R1P instead of 2P.
Pros of using the opponent's skill as difficulty:
- More representative of swordplay
- More room for dramatic results via upgraded difficulty dice
- Makes lightsaber fights last longer
- Still lets you mulch minions
Cons:
- Far more chance of despairs
- Makes it harder for lightsaber users to shine?
Anyways, I'm interested in hearing what you guys think!

Hey guys! First post here, no big deal but bear with me.
I have two NPC droids on my PCs' ship - the Medical Assistant Unit, Medical, or MAUM, the medical droid that frets over them when they come home from an adventure, and Double Down, an assassin droid turned gambling droid turned murderbot that guards the ship and can fly it to them if needed. Neither is an active presence in most missions - MAUM is a good helper in getting the party over their wounds, and Double Down, while cool, doesn't come with them to fight, so his presence is more reassurance than help. I like having the NPCs not be useless, but if I advance them like I advance the party (and would advance a droid character if I ever played one), they get very good at their assigned roles with the XP the party goes out and earns.
Should I tone down the NPCs' leveling so they don't keep up? Should my NPCs level at all? Any advice would be appreciated!

Can players step out from behind a corner, shoot, and then go back?

Indeed, though that still isn't an explicit rule against what the topic was! It is, however, justification for what already makes the most sense
