If we ask ourselves which ships got a repaint and upgrade we see:
X wing in the transport and the t-70
A wing and b wing in rebel aces.
Y wing, z95, and the hwk in Most Wanted.
What does this leave? The t-70, which hasn't been released and the K wing which was just released.
Next on the subject of parity, two e's provides rotational symmetry with imperial aces.
if it was two e's i don't think very many people would buy it even if it made them good. lots of people dont know or care about the e wing or like how it looks (gun over cockpit what)
all the other aces have ships normies will know from movies for at least 1 of the 2

How often will they shoot their own wings off?
About as often as the Falcon shot off its radar dish.
Sure the TIE's wing obstruct more but it's the same principle. And I guess the warhead launchers are in the heavy weapons turret.
Though I would love a seperate model for /sf I would be happy with a title that allowed firing out of arc as well as adding missile/torp slots, and maybe even boost (but that's probably overkill). Migh want to add another hull too. Hmmm, sounds like that title will cost about 5, 10 or more.
Thing with the falcon is
1.) Two turrets (top and bottom)
2.) A LOT more unobstructed space to shoot
The tie/sf has a single (almost phallic) turret below the...cockpit
Only way it's not shooting its wings off is firing at targets in front, behind and below
or if it flips to the side and then shoots like its shooting below

but the radar is different and also it would have a whole new bunch of pilots. Rey at PS7 with some crazy maneuvering stuff or something to make you want to use the actual firing arc (broken gun scene) would be fun.
the tie/sf and black one are higher wants for me, tho.
