yes. i know there was a plane version (sorta) but no one played it and it wasn't as good. if there was a plane version that was as widely played and talked about, i would totally be in.
i would run the red baron and be smug when anyone talked about the flying circus meta and tell them to get good

every time you post gunboat, it's pushed back another wave
gunboat gunboat gunboat gunboat.
see you all in 2097

ive seen other games have formats with extensive ban lists and the metagame actually gets staler because it reduces the number of options, op. it makes the problem (if you consider optimal list building a problem) worse.

Look, FFG can't ignore the release of Rogue One, or they face missing sales opportunities. More people are going to be out there looking to buy Rogue One related merchandise, which if released in expansion form, could lead to a heightened level of game purchases to acquire that expansion. What the market is NOT interested in is an expansion of 2 Legends ships that nobody has ever heard of, nor has even been in a movie. Blue Squadron was very prominently featured in Rogue One, which was a major, and very successful, theatrical release. The chances of seeing Scum Aces before getting a Blue Squadron pack is absolutely nil. Disney and LFL absolutely would not let them get away with it.
Not only that, but it's a GOLDEN, no, it's a PLATINUM opportunity to revisit and re-balance the X-Wing, one that FFG simply cannot afford to pass up, considering they may never get the chance again, as new movies probably won't feature the original T-65 X-Wing that prominently.
tl;dr more people actually give a **** about X-Wings and Y-Wings on the whole of the Star Wars fan base than the kihrhyzxzhzzazx and the space butterfly, and only one of those in the group were in Rogue One, one of the biggest movie events of the year.
This. All of this.
There is no better time to improve the T-65. New canon paint jobs are available. New canon pilots are available. A lot of people would be eager for X-wing upgrades and new pilots, and capitalizing on the Rogue One tie-in would be the icing on the cake. It doesn't matter if they call it Rebel Veterans or the Rogue One Pack or whatever.
I'd be happy with 1 Blue Squadron X-wing and 1 repaint Y-wing, or 1 Blue Squadron X-wing and 1 Partisan X-wing. I actually really DON'T care how much or how little screentime the Partisan X-wing had in the movie. I'm betting it had more time before final edits to the film. But even if it didn't, the paint job is COOL. But more important than screentime is that including a Partisan X-wing gives them ample excuse to add in Partisan pilots in addition to Blue Squadron pilots, and lots of new pilots to choose from would make me very, very happy.
I didn't spend my childhood building K-wings out of Legos or drawing Gunboats in my margins on my homework. I was drawing and building X-wings. So yeah I'd love for the classic X-wings to get some extra love and attention. And I want those Blue Squadron X-wing pilots in the game!
this but y wings also. i loved the y wing as a kid, and seing them kick ass in the movie was a dream come true, so im hoping they get some ordnance prowess in whatever pack gets made (even if it doesnt include a Y, a rebel-only torp option or something would be sick)
edit: i mean they did have a y wing pilot in blue squadron iirc so if it was just a blue squadron pack with a t65 and a y wing in blue squadron colors, merrick etc i would go nuts. but i dont think that will happen since they were x/u on screen

I've done some thinking about the B-Wing. Here's my thoughts.
So the B-Wing never had "standard" laser cannons. It had an HLC, 3 ion cannons, a cluster of autoblasters for close air support, and it's proton torpedo launchers.
So perhaps we could make a title like this:
A/SF-01 B-Wing, Title, X Points cause i dunno:
Add the <Cannon> upgrade slot to your upgrade bar, and equip a cannon that costs 3 or less points for free. You may not perform primary weapon attacks. After you perform a <Cannon> secondary weapon attack, you may perform an attack with a different equipped <cannon> secondary weapon. You may not attack again this turn.
Reinforce it's heavy firepower by keeping it in the realm of cannons.
The B-wing rolls the X-wing does not.....
...Yeah. He said so in his post.
"The X-Wing's superior dial is further offset by the B-Wing's ability to barrel roll, which requires a 2 point upgrade for the X-Wing to pull off. "
i like this.
mainlining a mangler and with that title at 3 points (so its just an extra attack at little/no cost, but not free) means you could fit 3 FCS Mangle/Ion (or Mangle/Tractor or Mangle/Flechette if you are one of those people) daggers in 100
couple that with expanding the X-Wing's role from pure jousting (to make up for the B-Wing now being the King of Cannons, First and Last of His Name, Undefeated in the Joust, Let Those Who Stand Against Him Know Fear Forevermore.) would give some different options for sure

the real problem with the U wing is theres no "screaming monkey hanging out the side with an Ion Cannon" crew card
+5 dice when attacking AT-ACTs

@all, it would have been nice to see a more one-sided Space Battle. It seems to be a huge waste of time building these SD if they can't even handle a company of Y-WINGs and a TUGBOAT.
Perhaps you missed the sh1tl0ad of rebel capital ships that those two star destroyers had to deal with? I counted at least 5 frigates, same number of CR-90s, a lot of hammerhead ones, the big new rebel capital ship... and my numbers are quite conservative. All those ships weren't probably just looking pretty. They were firing turbolasers at the destroyers.
Plus I saw X-Wing squadrons attacking the star destroyers' shield generators and blowing them up.
Then, and only then, came the group of Y-wings with ion torpedoes to disable them.
The space battle looks spot on after my 23 years of playing the X-Wing PC simulators. The star destroyers are great at keeping a civilian fleet under control thru fear. But they are not invulnerable against a party of capital ships and bombers doing exactly what is needed to knock them out.
The hammerhead part was just a bit of sadism by the Rebel admiral, even if effective at destroying the shield gate.
Also, as others say, it was a surprise attack. It caught the Empire with their pants down. They weren't expecting an attack. They didn't even have a proper enemy until that day.
the hammerhead bit was ******* brilliant. if they let me do that in armada i'm going to need to downsize my wallet

My least favorite scene in Rogue One. Remind me how the Empire came to power if their Capitol Ships are killed by, well... by movie-scripts alone?
theres always one guy

With all the fixes being requested for the game's main ship, it made me wonder if now would be the time for a so-called X-Wing 2.0. I think there are many advantages to a cardboard expansion, especially now that the devs can assess the balance in one Fel swoop now that everything's on the table. The waves are running out of ships, and every new ship doesn't seem to add much more variety with the sheer number ships there are now. Your B-wing and G1-A seem very much alike, your TIE/fos and A-Wings, and every ship is supposed to point and shoot very much the same. If such an expansion was released, I think there could be many benefits in regards to clearing "fix" clutter. We have dozens of cards that change how one specific ship is to behave and in some cases you have to buy the cards that make them better (Imperial and Rebel Aces, Integrated Astromech, Most Wanted Firespray). I'm not saying they shouldn't have done it, but I think now would be a great time to streamline all of the unique ship abilities, tweak point costs, revitalize ships archetypes, and maybe introduce new widespread mechanics. I would gladly pay for $30 bucks of cardboard as long as its a one time deal, and the game has changed for the better.
Here are some things that I hope to see if X-Wing 2.0 comes to fruition.
1. Pilots cards independent of the ship.
Tycho Celchu flew X-Wings and A-Wings, so why not have 2 listed point costs depending on what he's flying? This promotes your list building to really consider not just what, but who you are using in your squad since there can only be one Tycho Celchu.
2. Unique Squadron Titles
These are titles like Rogue Squadron or Phoenix Squadron that can only be applied to a squad that follows a certain formula. Your 3 X-Wings consisting of Luke, Biggs, and Porkins could be granted the Red Squadron title, giving them a unique buff since you went through the trouble of bringing them all together in a 100 point list.
3.Increased weight for ship states
I love the constant internal math associated with considering your moves and actions. Am I in arc or out? Am I in range 1 and stressed? Or am I facing down 2-3 ships clustered together? Ion and Stress are good limiters, but I feel like there should be one more element more common than a crit but less devastating.
Now that you've hear my case, what would you like to see in a supposed X-Wing 2.0 cardboard expansion?
god no @pilot cards independent of ships
i dont want wedge flying the death star

Your "Tier" list, whatever you may be thinking, is already blown to shreds.....
Just had a guy win the Kansas City regionals with a Bossk, Finn, and Scyk........
Yes, you heard right, a scyk.
but scyks are good now

From recent experience Omega Leader when taken as part of a squad isn't as scary as a lot of people think. In a 1v1 yer she/he will mess you up big style but with multiple people in play it loses teeth a little.
It's a powerful pilot but when your cards are on the table its still a Tie.
I mean, he's 26 points
there's only so much you can expect, and he more than delivers
every time i look at what you get for 26 points it feels like cheating

So after another game today at my regional where a ship regenned waaay too many times, I once again really want to push for a nerf to regen.
It's been my least favorite aspect of the game for quite some time. Nothing worse than having a 2-4 point upgrade give tons of extra hit points over a game if you keep running away to get them back.
However I realize many people like regen so I don't know how likely it is to get nerfed. Some would say it's no different than some of the extreme damage mitigation other ships have. But for me at least when facing those types of ships if you do get damage in, it sticks. You know exactly how much damage you have to do to win. Against regen you have no clue. You could get lucky and kill them before they regen even once, or they might regen a ton of times.
I think a fair solution would be as follows:
Update in FAQ
You cannot regenerate more shields in a game than the original printed shield value on your ship.
That means most ships who use regen in this game could only do it a max of 3-4 times during the game. That's still more than I would like, but fair enough that I think most people could agree to. I also put "original" shield value so that you can't regen an extra shield for having a shield upgrade.
What do you think?
this is a terrible idea because it adds a layer of unnecessary bookkeeping to the game. pop quiz its the last round of a 13 hour long tournament and you have been going down to the wire and cant remember how many greens youve done with r2d2. how do you track how much you've regenned? better buy a new ffg official tm shield regen tm tracker tm patent pending made in taiwan.
Not that I think limiting regen is a good idea, but it's as simple as putting 3 shield tokens on your R2-D2 card at the start of the game. Basically how Gonk works, just with adding the tokens at the beginning of the game.
so now you have to rewrite the cards entirely, with errata, or reissue them somehow. or get in touch with the factory to start production of the new ffg official tm shield regen tm tracker tm patent pending made in taiwan, the only legal way to fly at tournaments c in a circle, only $13.99 limited quantities available then they'll be on the boat for another six months

My playgroup decided to go and change some cards, aka "unoficcial faq" and i'm not really sold on it. What do you think about these changes?
1) Tie x7 now costs 2 points instead of -2
2) R2-D2 costs 6 points.
3) All E-wings costs 2 less.
4) "Whisper" is banned.
I'm recently a defender player and it hurts me a lot. How would you build in this enviroment? Probably tie/d are now better?
i would just run r5-p9 poe and laugh all the way to the bank because these changes are so badly done

the game is ******* called x wing, so x wings should be useful in some capacity instead of being outdone entirely by several ships which themselves aren't even used.
if the game called magic didnt have any magic spells worth using it would be an equal problem tbh
