I tried it when it was called HP Nylon or something like that. I found it too similar to Black Strong and Flexible (aka. Black Versatile Plastic).

I've only gotten things in FUD and the now no-longer available HDPE (or however that sequence of letters is). Will the roughness of the model be badly compromised in supported areas for either HP Nylon / WSF as bad as it is for FUD?

  2. Hey @melminiatures - do you have any experience with the "Professional Plastic" material?

One of the things that I noticed with the FUD (obviously now known as Fine Detail Plastic) is that there was a lot of roughness where the material was supported by the wax (A known artifact of the process of course). Given the complex geometry of something like a Constitution-class federation ship, there is a lot of need for supports and I'm trying to minimize that roughness.

  3. So. I haven't played a game in well over a year. I haven't actually played all that much at all, but that's mostly because I don't drive and it's a pain to get into the city on my schedule, so I have no one to blame but myself. I also don't really do strangers that well.

That being said, can we knock it off with the clickbate titles? I already have a Facebook account.

I've looked at Kuat Drive Yards but I decided I wanted to make my cards look more like the actual cards with the backgrounds and everything, and all the stuff I see on Kuat has a different style.

But yes, I didn't include the dots - At the time there was no "Dot" symbol for the font I'm using, so I'm just going to say that the Lightsaber Nunchuck symbol on the cards implies it's unique and thus cannot be used.  That or I"ll find a pretty dot and simply add it to each card before publishing the final product.

Fair enough - So long as you knew about the option and chose not to use it - can't fault you for that :3

  5. Ooooooh.

    I love fan expansions :3

I dig the concepts in a big way. I'm with you on the names though. Let me check my notes on what fonts Armada uses for the various fields. Also it looks like you're forgetting the "Unique Indicator" dots on these titles.

If only there was a website that let's you create custom armada cards and generate a PDF for them ;)

Ok, I have to ask... why do so many people make custom Armada cards with an entirely different format and layout than the real Armada cards?

Because a lot of people use KDYards and that was an intentional decision on my part to make what KDYards produce be visually distinct from what Armada has. This was to purposefully avoid someone showing up with an unofficial card somewhere. At a glance you can tell that a card came from KDY.

  7. For v2, Whilst I can't make it so that font-size is variable on a per-card basis, I can make it so that you can define your own renderer with a font-size that you want it set to - so in theory if you have a really long-text item, you can make a new renderer that uses pt7 font instead of the default pt9 font.

The unique flag is going to be across the board for all cards (stations, squadrons, ships, upgrades, even damage cards - because why not)  AND bonus: you'll be able to define the icon you want to use as the unique indicator on a per-renderer basis, too.
