  1. Also from Toronto. With the closure of MM's game space is anyone meeting up to play in the GTA?
  2. I found the plastic extremely easy to reposition, I second the hot water / ice water trick. The hot water in my kitchen sink comes out steaming, so I just held the spear under the water for 5 seconds to soften it up, repositioned the now-soft model and dunked it in a bowl of ice water
  3. haha saw that, p 19 also lists monster brown with a dragon red product symbol and code and p 20 lists a leather brown primer next to a white matte symbol and product code
  4. This is what I was hoping to hear, thanks everyone!
  5. I'm new to painting minis and have tried to check out as many resources as possible online, seems like some people (including Sorastro in his painting videos) assemble w/o gluing, prime, then take apart and paint, then reassemble and glue? While assembling for a practice game with my buddy I saw some of the figures have some tight spots that might be tough to get to if glued first. Any advice for a newbie?
  6. I just brought this deck to a meetup where we had a successful 4-player go at Voyage Across Belegaer (1st scenarion of Grey Havens). I only have 1 core set so I made a few substitutions, but you'll be pleased to know that it handled itself very well. I was able to successfully pull off sailing tests, quest for a good amount when no one was engaged and do some real damage when I had 2-3 enemies in front of me. Very nice deck!!
  7. Awesome thanks for the feedback folks! Like I said I've had okay results making my own decks after two years and can never really figure out if I should attribute success to deck building skill or encounter deck luck. The best netdeck I've played is the "One Deck to Rule Them All (Nightmare Edition)" posted here, and was the first to show me that a good gimmick or two can have consistently good results. I guess that's a model to follow! [edit mistyped the deck name]
  8. Been netdecking for almost 2 years, I'm OK when it comes to deck building but not great. I just got the Lost Realm / Angmar Awakened cycle in one purchase (tax return time!) and have been blown away by the new player cards. The quests so far are really tough, and I was getting my arse handed to me in the first couple scenarios (7/1 Intruders in Chetwood, 5/1 The Weather Hills). I built this specifically for The Weather Hills and beat it with ease, but if anyone could provide any feedback - especially with the Angmar Awakened pool, I'm loving the cards! - that would be great. Hopefully this can prove to be a versatile deck... Arwen is an amazing resource generator in a pinch, useful for planning phase or Aragorn's readying effect if he spends all his cash. She also quests for a significant amount in the early game, and +2 between Faramir and Sword tw Broken gives her total 5 in late game. Elven-Light is amazing On Galadriel I put Mirror, Silver Harp, Nenya and Unexpected Courage. UC can enable her to either (1) drop threat by 1 and draw card and then contribute to quest for up to a whopping 6, or (2) contribute to quest and then ready and buff Aragorn with Tale of Tinuviel. After she's set up you're drawing 4 cards per round when you've got Elven-Light doing its thing (I easily burned through my deck). Aragorn gets the rest - Steward of Gondor, Celebrian's Stone, Sword tw Broken, Ring of Barahir + Blood of Numenor (=great defense). He can attack for 7 with tale of Tinuviel, and with a Sneak Attack Gandalf that's a full 11 attack with +4 damage inflicted. He can quest, defend and attack all in the same round if the cards are played right. I found that with Elrond's Counsel and Galadriel's threat reduction I was hovering mid 20's threat for full game of The Weather Hills. Overkill? Maybe Elrond's Counsel could go and be replaced with something more effective? Allies are a little random, just trying out the new ones. Elven Jeweller has been effective when your hand is full of duplicate uniques and need to drop them. Aragorn - Ladies Man Total Cards: 50 Heroes (starting threat: 30) Aragorn (Core Set) Arwen Undómiel (The Dread Realm) Galadriel (Celebrimbor's Secret) Allies (22) 1x Anborn (The Land of Shadow) 2x Dúnedain Watcher (The Dead Marshes) 2x Faramir (Core Set) 2x Guardian of Arnor (The Battle of Carn Dûm) 2x Son of Arnor (Core Set) 2x Weather Hills Watchman (The Lost Realm) 2x Elven Jeweler (Escape from Mount Gram) 3x Elrond (The Road Darkens) 3x Warden of Healing (The Long Dark) 3x Gandalf (Core Set) Attachments (14) 1x Celebrían's Stone (Core Set) 2x Steward of Gondor (Core Set) 2x Sword that was Broken (The Watcher in the Water) 1x Blood of Númenor (Heirs of Númenor) 2x Mirror of Galadriel (Celebrimbor's Secret) 1x Ring of Barahir (The Steward's Fear) 2x Silver Harp (The Treachery of Rhudaur) 1x Unexpected Courage (Core Set) 2x Nenya (Celebrimbor's Secret) Events (13) 2x Sneak Attack (Core Set) 2x A Test of Will (Core Set) 2x Elrond's Counsel (The Watcher in the Water) 3x Elven-light (The Dread Realm) 2x Hasty Stroke (Core Set) 2x Tale of Tinúviel (The Dread Realm) Quests (1) 1x Gather Information (The Lost Realm) Thanks for any feedback!
  9. awesome! just registered for me and my buddy. great chance to put together some decks for lotr, warhammer and netrunner. we dont play apart from the two of us
  10. NM Fords of Isen - I can make it to stage 3 but get totally hammered by location lock and enemies while trying to clear them out to meet the victory condition. There are so many forced effects, some of the worst either cause direct damage or add enemies. The shadow effects are terrible too - additional / strengthened attacks, 3 x discard attachments (always knocks out a key attachment from gandalf's getup or glorfindel's light of valinor), 3 x remove time counters, direct damage. And that Savage Hillman is the bane of my existence, he hangs around round after round until i can drop below 3 cards in my hand (almost impossible with 2 x ill tidings). If you've got any advice I'd be very happy! My girlfriend got me Land of Shadow, NM Heirs of Numenor and NM Voice of Isengard for early Xmas present, and I've beaten the first two in a week. Santa is gonna sh*t under my tree this year unless I beat NM Voice of Isengard!
  11. i originally tried this deck against NM VoI and got smashed 3 for 3 not good. tried against shelob's lair and killed it, yay!
  12. I registered just to share the decks I made this week to tackle this exact problem. I decided to give the full campaign a go again (I usually play the boxes separate). This first deck got my through A Shadow of the Past, The Old Forest, Fog on the Barrow Downs, A Knife in the Dark, Flight to the Ford and The Ring Goes South. Aragorn snuffed it on Journey in the Dark so I replaced him with Tactics Boromir. The latter hero trio's deck was reworked quite a bit and just beat Journey in the Dark, but BARELY - round 23, threat 49. Most epic win ever (which is what the game is all about!) But this first deck served me very well and was a blast to play: Total Cards: (50) Hero: (4) 1x Aragorn (Core Set) 1x Merry (The Black Riders) 1x Pippin (The Black Riders) 1x Frodo Baggins (The Black Riders) Ally: (21) 2x Son of Arnor (Core Set) 2x Vassal of the Windlord (The Dead Marshes) 3x Imladris Stargazer (Foundations of Stone) 2x Gleowine (Core Set) 1x Henamarth Riversong (Core Set) 2x Master of the Forge (Shadow and Flame) 2x Miner of the Iron Hills (Core Set) 2x Warden of Healing (The Long Dark) 3x Gandalf (Core Set) 2x Errand-rider (Heirs of Numenor) Attachment: (20) 1x Celebrian's Stone (Core Set) 2x Sword that was Broken (The Watcher in the Water) 2x Steward of Gondor (Core Set) 2x Gondorian Shield (The Steward's Fear) 2x Blood of Numenor (Heirs of Numenor) 1x Unexpected Courage (Core Set) 2x Expert Treasure-hunter (On the Doorstep) 2x Gondorian Fire (Assault on Osgiliath) 2x Dagger of Westernesse (The Black Riders) 2x Song of Wisdom (Conflict at the Carrock) 2x Song of Travel (The Hills of Emyn Muil) Event: (9) 2x Sneak Attack (Core Set) 2x A Test of Will (Core Set) 3x Daeron's Runes (Foundations of Stone) 2x Frodo's Intuition (The Black Riders) There's so many combos in this deck, but admittedly some of the good ones are Aragorn-based so unlucky draws might stifle it. Card draw is above average, which can lead to a total steamroll on some scenarios if the deck is nice to you. Comments on how to tighten it up are very welcome, I've been playing LOTR LCG for about 1.5 years now and have first 4 cycles (except first 3 APs of Ringmaker), and all saga except Land of Shadow.
