Oh, and yes @Ardaedhel, it was your list that got me thinking about Hera! Lol -

I can give CO a shot... I never run it. HA is also totally valid as well, and will certainly make them hesitate in over extending. Maybe. -

Likely won’t test it until XMas holidays. Stupid grad school -

Huh. I wonder if I saw that earlier and it planted an idea... there was definitely a thread that was pushing Hera in the last week or so. Anyway, I totally agree, Dodonna needs to be on Admo, especially without Relay. If luck holds, I may get two Yavaris salvos off befor it dies, and I can move Admo into a finisher role after the squads have hopefully pulled some shields and hull down off my primary target. not sure on the other objectives. I’ve been running 2x VCXs for so long, I want to try and break the habit of always picking sensor net and fire lanes. Off the top of my head, Superior Positions and... I don’t know for the yellow? Ions? -
Yet another iteration of the Big D(odonna) and trying to find a way to work Hera into some lists. Thoughts? Does this work in theory? Have two speedy ships, one with the commander the other with an effective speed 5. Split them in opposite directions, force a choice, then get one of behind your primo target to deploy the LMC80? Solo Armada and the Corellian Campaign
RogueCommander replied to Dameon13's topic in Star Wars: Armada
I thinks it's possible as a thought exercise, and like others have said, a good way to experiment with formation flying, distances, etc. So, something as simple as, "How would I fly a gunline against a Tie Swarm list?" And sticking to the basic idea, you should learn some things. I guess it's like any other solo game, if you're honest, you'll at least be entertained. I mean, there's been mornings where I'm having my breakfast and have the bases and maneuvering tool out to test out some fancy flying ideas. That's normal, right? Right? ? -

Hammerhead task force cards: What a crock
RogueCommander replied to Wussypillow's topic in Star Wars: Armada
There are two per pack. Confirmed and in hand. The wiki is wrong. -
I've seen that happen once. It was soul crushing to watch.

My first run with them wasn't great, but that's more on me than the ships I think. First match, I had them lined up for a round 4-6 finishing role on an Ackbar guppy gunline I got in front of, but Admo and Dodonna did so much heavy lifting as the point ship, that my opponent conceded before I could see what they'd do (seriously, I drew 4 back to back Structurals and took out 1, and was a whisker away from taking out Ackbar with Admo alone, and received no significant damage in return) Things were lined up well though, and I think they would've easily finished off the other guppy and Ackbar as I had already won the squad game, so that would be some extra damage coming from there also. Second match, I tried to flank and instead got squeezed in the corner. Speed three on the HH hurts a bit, especially when you're used to Speed 4 CR90s. They're fragile, and holy crap VSD2's with DispCap and Vader are just stupid. I got two HH caught in the front arc and with Gunnery Teams, my opponent almost one shot them both (4 damage cards each). Anyway, that was my fault, as I miscalculated my flanking run just a bit. As usual, they're going to take some time to figure out. I think they'll have a place in lists and want to keep testing them. A concurrent game where a player was running them got them on the nose of an MC80, and between ramming, ER, and boarding engineers it folded remarkably fast. They can definitely roll as a pack very well.

Anyone else a tad worried about Sloane?

I like it. I was wondering if leaning in Yavaris was what was holding the other list back. thanks! -

RogueCommander replied to RogueCommander's topic in Star Wars: Armada
Im not worried about bombers, I'm thinking about how to absorb and counter a Sloane alpha with a bunch of low hull Ties, which we're likely to see a lot of. And like I said, XWings will likely be a good substitute for the YTs, if I feel I need to put the pedal to the medal. Additionally, I might know a few things about flying tight formations at speed three. >shrug< it's an idea to test -

I think you're being overly optimistic with the idea that 2-3 aces are going to go down in a turn. You also seem to be ignoring two double blue AAs that will help bring down squads as well. but I guess we'll see - a whole new chance to experiment is upon us! -
¡Gracias!

If ship with Point Defense and Toryn in range, am I correct that if a Toryn re-roll results in a crit, that I can re-roll that same die again with PDR? And with PDR, if I keep re-rolling into crits, I can keep re-rolling until I get either a hit or an accuracy. Right? Right?!?

RogueCommander replied to RogueCommander's topic in Star Wars: Armada
Here's my first attempt at something that might absorb a Sloane alpha. Probably overdoing it with the YTs, but I've wanted to do something like that for a long time for a laugh. Could easily see trading out for two X Wings for a little more bomber. I feel kind of gross using Rieekan, but eh, he's been knocked down a notch, so I won't feel too bad. Might try to find a way to make room for BCC. Sloane who? I'm in the same boat. Not panicking, more thinking about counters.
