"When you say enemies, do you refer to the winged beasts that were our welcome wagon as we arrived on world? Or something less... Unpleasant?" Soryn asks, his voice edged with the concern the Padawans would be facing yet another encounter with the Sithspawn.
-
Following Dera's lead, Soryn bows and introduces himself, "Soryn Velk, and it is a pleasure to be in the presence of a Jedi Master. Please direct me to any required task; I would be happy to lend help where it is needed."
-
Where we at dude/ttes?

"It must be nice not to see the same faces at work every day. Would also help that everyone's birthday is a different day of the rotation, I suppose," the gaunt Pau'an chimes in from behind the main swathe of people.
-
Sor is an ass. Well, specifically he's an elitist who looks at any mistakes made as utter failures, especially his own. The relentless disregard of the Jedi Code/teachings is making him wild, which of course goes against the teachings, which makes him mad at himself - compounding the grumpy.
-
Shaking his head at the situation, Soryn says nothing to the Padawans. Let the others think what they will, he knew the right and wrong of it; regardless of the musings of hypocrites. What was best to do now was watch and wait, as being in the presence of General Kota would no doubt be enough to settle down the bad behavior. Putting a reassuring hand on Dera's shoulder, the Pau'an nods to the Duros, "My apologies, Commander Quirno, our ride in was bumpy and some of us suffer from airsickness. If we could please be off, no doubt there are urgent matters requiring attention. Thank you for your patience with us; we have a long way to go before we're as experienced as we'd like." Indicating to the speeders, Soryn waits for the Commander's response.

"Good to see you two made it," Soryn says to the pilots as he reaches the cockpit. "Sorry I can't dally, but here's my comm; do call if you are keen to catch up, or offer another ride to a stranded Jedi..." He pats them on the back and trots down to join the rest, trying to shake the mood of irritation. The fighters catch his eye as he moves across the tarmac, beautiful craft one and all; however he is no ace, and knows they are not for him. Following at the back of the group, he keeps his ears and eyes open.
-
"Mhm," Soryn grunts, before walking off towards the cockpit to check on the pilots and remaining crew. He replays the battle with the winged creatures in his mind, picking out the key elements of where he failed and going over them again and again, determined to not make the same mistakes should he ever face the same type of foe. Footwork - fine until tripped. Bladework - sloppy. Evasion - Acceptable, though inconclusive. His grim demeanor sours even further as he reflects on his ineptitude, compounded by his anger getting the better of him. Trying to remember what his Master always used to tell him in moments like these only irritated him further; she wasn't here, and he only had the other Padawans to rely on and confide in; and who among them was worth trusting yet?

"Spoken like someone who perhaps should have looked more into joining the Agri-Corps, Tessrah. And the whole point of my 'lecture' is about not dying. We are too valuable a resource in these times to be throwing our lives, or the lives of our fellows away." At Kor and Deras words, Soryn pauses. "You are right, it is unbecoming. I will focus on the task at hand; which I believe is to report in with Base Command and see exactly what it is we should be doing in such a tumultuous situation."
-
Hahah no worries! His angry face should be enough to stop all that with some Coercion Ha, I was the same. Thank the Maker for edit post functions. Haha

Turning on her, his mouth a thin line, Soryn retorts, "Merely separated? Was scurrying out the door and closing it behind you something the creatures suggested you do?! The galaxy is at war, Tessrah. We are keepers of the peace, not soldiers, but we have to know how to fight regardless. If your battlefield does not involve combat, go and work on diplomatic relations; better yet, go and broker a peace treaty between The Republic and the Separatists. Either way, tell us when you're about to do something that could get one of us killed. And I would be glad for your Master to attend us, no doubt they would have a lot to say about your behavior." And then, as Kor speaks, the Pau'ans eyes lock with his. "Luck? You think luck has anything to do with it? Do you believe in The Force or not? Once again, the leaving was not the issue; it was the lack of communication. Imagine if the creature she had been fighting attacked your back after she had left? You were too busy stopping the other one from clawing your stomach out. And armor? Do you think you'll always be wearing your armor when something happens? Do not blame the tools, Kor, or lack of. We must always be prepared."

You are super optimistic about our GM being a kind GM I expect a minefield between us and the base - then automated sentry turrets that have identified us as droids by mistake.

Soryn stands with his right hand on the bulkhead, left hand still holding his lightsaber, though he powers it down as he watches the last creature hit the ground. Slowly releasing his connection to the Force, he hooks the saber on his belt and turns to face the other Padawans; noting the differing expressions on their faces. A numbers of thoughts run through his mind, and he smacks, rather than pushes, the door close button to seal the cargo bay as they come in to land. Striding over to the rest with his hands clasped behind his back, Soryn says, "Dera, you did magnificently in guiding the pilots. Thank you. And for your assistance in coming down here as soon as you deemed it wise," He levels his gaze at Tessrah and continues, "You, however, ran in the middle of a fight without the rest of us being ready to fill the gap in the line. You are the reason Kor and Shad were wounded. Thinking only of yourself is not the Jedi way." With that, the Pau'an continues past them, over to Kor. "And you... Be more mindful of your feelings. You know what I refer to. Otherwise, thank you for the help in that fight. Those creatures were... Difficult to deal with. You too, Shad. And that was nice shooting, Vyrr; though rare to see one of us using a blaster over our swords. We have a lot to learn, but we may yet work well together as a group."

As long as we don't rush into another battle right away we can do cool checks to recover strain.

It was time to press the advantage and end the fight. Soryn held his blade out, level with the ground, and locked eyes with the last creature. He knew it was afraid, now. Too many of its fellows had been cut down, and it was going to run at the first chance it got; they couldn't allow that. Stepping forward and feinting at it, the Pau'an looked for an opening, knowing a cornered beast was the most dangerous. Dropping low and faking a sweep, Soryn spun and slashed the lightsaber... Attacking the last creature: 2eP+2eA+2eD+2eS 1 failure, 1 advantage And the creature recoiled just in time, the Pau'an's blow missing by the smallet of margins. But it was exposed, clumsily avoiding the lightsaber had put it in a dangerous position. "Now, Vyrr! Finish it!" Soryn cried, diving away from the beast to give the other Padawan a clear shot. Action - Attack with lightsaber Maneuver - Disengage (move to short range) Outcome - Miss, add 1 Boost to next check (Vyrr's as he is yet/last to go)

I'll throw a post up now, give me 5. Done. Man the dice have turned against me! Please shoot that last beastie, Arc. No danger of hitting me now either.
-
Whhhere are we up to?
-
I don't think so boss.
-
As long as you're not taking heaps of conflict to do it! And I think we got the most basic of Clones. Like the batch that they were going to throw out. Rakaydos, I need their names/callsigns/numbers whatever. I want to train them to be not useless.
-
Gotta love that George Lucas quality romance there. LOL Alright, so we're landing and there's still one alive, and Vyrr doesn't want to risk shooting us - what a nice person. I would have held down the trigger til no bat creatures were moving and then let the Clone Medical team deal with the aftermath haha
-
I think her turn was to maneuver twice away from the battle. I.e. Maneuver 1 - disengage (move to short range), Action downgrade into Maneuver 2 - Move/take cover behind door.
-
As the ship began its descent into the base proper, Soryn realized the danger of letting the winged creatures loose inside the shield. "We have to bring these things down, immediately. We cannot risk them getting loose in the base," he cries over the din of battle, dodging away from grasping claws and snapping jaws, "Finish them off before we land!" And with that he searches for an opening and lunges in again, his blue saber a bright spear of light piercing towards the beasts. Maneuver - Aim Action - Attack the weaker of the two creatures Attacking the weakest of the two creatures: 2eP+2eA+1eB+2eD+2eS 4 failures, 4 advantage Again, Soryn attempts a killing blow, but only manages to disrupt the melee, hopefully providing someone a chance to end it. He is furious with himself for his lack of finesse and inability to land solid hits on the Sithspawn. His irritation flares into outright anger when he sees Tessrah slinking out of the fight and into another section of the ship, closing the door behind her to boot. Quelling the distraction, he prepares himself for the counterattack. Outcome - Miss (0 damage), passing 4 Boost Dice to next check/dividing them across remaining.
-
We're doing good! I mean I haven't been hit. Yet. Ok so I got 4 advantage. Which next person can use all at once or feel free to split it up!
-
Annnnd nope. There's the roll I've been waiting on haha!

From his position on the cold, durasteel floor, Soryn looks out of the open cargo hatch as the ship turns and sees heavy laser fire tear through the winged beast he had just been fighting. It seems the forces at the base were responding to their situation and shooting down the creatures where they could. Looking back at the melee, still raging in the confines of the cargo hold, the Pau'an Padawan sees Shad and Kor take hits. He leaps back to his feet, wobbling somewhat as the ship shudders, before falling back into his fencing posture and darting forward, attacking the nearby Sithspawn from behind. Maneuver - Stand up from Prone Action - Attack with Lightsaber Attacking winged beasts from behind: 2eP+2eA+1eB+2eS+2eD 4 failures, 2 advantage Stumbling and losing his footing, Soryn sails past his intended target, bulling into the mob that are fighting and knocking them about. It's not elegant in the slightest, but he hopes his compatriots can utilize the distraction and find their marks. Outcome - 0 damage (miss), passing 2 boost to whoever goes next (or if we're out of people, two setback to the creatures).
