It's the first time I've ever seen it, but then I don't consume every bit of Star Wars content.  Besides, it having been done before, doesn't make it look less silly.

This isn't the first time we've seen a lightsaber do this. Pong Krell's lightsabers folded over as well.

When I saw the title, I thought FFG was finally making a new Star Wars system, using 23-sided dice (ie. d23) and dubbing it the Rise of Skywalker system in honor of the new movie.

I don't look at that as a fakeout. Luke was on the path to the dark side until his triumphant "I am a Jedi" speech. He gave into the temptation to assassinate the Emperor with his anger and hate, he went berserk at the mention of Leia being turned, he was at the edge. Love was what triumphed over his fear, anger and hate and what allowed him to refuse to fight any longer and give that speech.

When I said force vision I didn't necessarily mean one that comes to pass. I meant a vision similar to the cave of evil on Dagobah. You know, that whole "this is what you will become if you continue on this way" sort of moment.

It could also be a fakeout like how they dressed Luke up like a Sith at the beginning of Return, and even had him force choking people, but then ultimately it was just to fake out the audience.
Doubt they are going to actually make her go bad, though tempted is a valid path they might take, I mean, that's pretty much standard operating procedure for Star Wars and Force user protagonists.

That is one of  the leading theories. Of course the question is who's vision is it? Rey's or Kylo's?
Another one is it is a clone body that the Emperor's has taken over.
Just as a theory I am going throw out there is we see them do Bastila's turn and redemption in KOTOR.

Based on the interior jacket art for Allies & Adversaries, there is also going to be a book on ships & vehicles.

we don't need a second edition. I could see doing a book that upgrades the system for the few small issue that may exist. then you could update the  cores and sell the upgrade book. But I also see no reason to restart from zero to deal with the minor issues.

Because if they want to do a second edition they can do it without me. There's no reason to restart before you have even scratched the surface.

So we each tasted it once and regret it. You tasted it when it was hot from the source, I got to it when it had floated downstream for a bit. Neither was a pleasant experience and you have my sympathy.

I really, really, really hope they don't go the way of that "grey" Jedi nonsense, at least in how the term grey Jedi is usually bandied about, that being a Force user that can liberally draw upon the dark side but not suffer any of the consequences.  Admittedly, a lot of that distaste for the concept comes from min-maxing munchkins that wanted to use all the awesome dark side powers but not have to pay the piper due to some flimsy dime-store quasi-philosophical BS they pulled out of their hind-end as a half-hearted attempt to justify/rationalize their munchkin antics.
Apart from having Word of George that the dark side is more akin to a cancerous life-threatening growth and that what most folks think of as "the light" is the Force's natural state of being, the only real failing of the old Jedi Order was their dogmatic views, when Qui-Gon's outlook (which got him labeled as a maverick and amusing a "grey Jedi" by more orthodox members of the Order) was the direction the Order should have been heading.  Note that Qui-Gon is still very much a "light side Jedi" (and in this system, probably some degree of LS Paragon) albeit one that was more in tune with the Living Force as opposed to the Jedi Order's focus on the Unifying Force; the Order was too busy looking at the forest as a singular entity while Qui-Gon made time to take note of the trees and how they contributed to the forest.
Qui-Gon's approach is what the Jedi Order needed, and it was wisdom that came far too late for the Order, and wisdom that Luke in his eagerness to rebuild the Jedi Order also overlooked, falling into much the same trap.

So I have an idea about the title.   It probably isn't anywhere on target, but a thought.
Would Rise of Skywalker be them referencing the title Ozyly-esehembo the Cheunh word for Force Sensitives which translated in to basic as Skywalker?    I can see them running with  the idea there are no more "Jedi", but the Legacy left behind is what found the "Skywalker Order" by Rey.

Yeah, these kinds of arguments are why I took a long hiatus from online Star Wars communities as a whole. It just brings me down arguing about it. I love Star Wars... just hate what TLJ did to it and likewise to our forums/communities. I was so excited leading up to episode 8 and was completely let down by what I saw.
Such a divisive film. People either LOVE it or HATE it, and there’s seemingly no middle ground. I don’t get how people consider it a masterpiece and they don’t get how I see it as a dumpster fire. To me, it’s a bad film. To them, it’s perfection.
I really wish I could be one of the guys who loved it, but I didn’t. I hated it. And, for the record, I didn’t post a review of it to RT or any other sites. Nor will I belittle anyone for their opinion on this or any film. I also won’t insinuate that my fanhood is somehow more legitimate than anyone over one film like some others do. I hope IX is good, but I won’t be seeing it in the theaters and definitely won't be avoiding trailers and spoilers like I did with TLJ. Just not worth my time or energy. And, honestly, showing our displeasure with our money, or lack thereof, is the only thing that Disney/Lucasfilm will ultimately pay attention to.
On a side note, just got done running TFA Beginner Game tonight, and had a great time. Took a couple of sessions and ended it with my players dropping into the aftermath of the Hosnian Cataclysm.

Hey what is it with the need to highjack this thread to discuss TLJ yet again? Come on folks, let it go. For some it was great, for other's it was garbage but TLJ was made and it can't be unmade. It's not what this thread is about so maybe if you're all hot and bothered and chomping at the bit to kick this dead horse go start another thread?

Let’s see how that goes. If IX doesnt live up to box office expectations Rian may not get that chance. There’s a long way between now and then. Honestly, giving Rian his own toys to play with may work out. He can go crazy and do what he likes, but he fumbled hard on the main saga and created this mess.

I never said that they werent aware of what he was doing. They made a mistake by giving him the freedom that they did and Solo paid for that mistake. I saw TFA 5 times in theaters and TLJ 2 times total (once on opening weekend and once on Netflix). I waited until Solo was in the cheap theater before seeing it because of how aweful TLJ was. There wasn’t a conspiracy to tank Solo, just an alienated portion of their fan base that did it all on their own.
Now, claiming that TLJ RT score was a conspiracy... that’s rich. The majority of people I’ve talked with about TLJ didn’t care for it. 3 of my friends did and boy oh boy does one of them pester me about it. I don’t particularly like talking about it, but they seem to think that they can convert me. He’s one of my dearest friends, but it’s annoying.
Solo was a mixed bag, but it did more for me than TLJ did. Lando was fantastic and the second half of the film was darned good. TLJ was just bad.

Last thing I’m going to say about TLJ in this thread is that mistakes were made. Johnson decided not to further flesh out the threads JJ started in TFA, instead opting to “subvert expectations” and throw them out the window. After TLJ, we should've known who Snoke was and why he existed. Instead, RJ killed him off, leaving a gigantic void in JJ’s intended storyline. Kylo was never intended to be the big bad, nor did he show that he was worthy of it in TLJ. Quite the opposite in fact; Kylo regressed into a sniveling little emo brat. After picking through the wreckage of TLJ, JJ doesn’t have the time to properly introduce a new big bad, and since he doesn’t appear to want to force Kylo’s character into it, nor continue RJ’s pessimistic Star Wars parody, he’s got little choice but to find one that we are already familiar with. Enter Palpatine.
Or, ya know, maybe Palpatine is just an evil force ghost.

TLJ killed the sequel era for me, but that's just one man's opinion. The glaring errors and problems that I see might not be issues for others, I can respect difference of opinion. But please don't try and sell the idea that it is a small minority of people that feel the same, this is clearly not true. From the 44% fan rating on rotten tomatoes reviewed by hundreds of thousands of fans, to the protest against solo that caused it to bomb in the wake of the fans issues with TLJ. If we are going to speak about things as objective facts and not opinions, then that is where disagreement ends and a realization of truth needs to set in. Regardless how we feel, the truth of the divisive elements of TLJ are not only a minor forgettable bump in the road.
