Yik wasn't second, he was 3rd or 4th, and that definitely wasn't his list. He ran like 5 naked Gozantis, a GSD2 demo, 3 tie bombers, Rhymer, howlrunner, a tie interceptor and ALL THE TIE FIGHTERS. Objectives were Most Wanted, Superior Positions and some thing else...

I've got my fingers crossed! Don't get me wrong, I'm skeptical but if they show up I wouldn't be upset about being wrong...

I think the FFG Upcoming tab is usually a pretty accurate indicator, all things considered. If it doesn't show "Shipping now" I wouldn't believe any retailer that says they will have it in a week. On the boat means any stage between leaving the factory and leaving FFG warehouses. Shipping now means it is shipping to distributors, and usually at this stage we have a good idea what the release date is. My feeling/speculation is that they held CC up to release with wave 5, which is a little perplexing cause I would think releasing between waves gives people more to look forward to and spreads out their spend a bit. Releasing at the same time means some folks on a budget will literally be standing in a store with CC in one hand and a Wave 5 ship in the other and have a tough decision to make, which could reduce initial uptake of CC

Exactly this. It's like complaining that Ackbar was useless cause you flew nose first into your enemies.

8 Flotilla bomber list would have gotten shredded at Canadian Nationals. I had a 3 flotilla Interdictor heavy bomber list and everyone there was ready for both flotillas and bomber lists. I think some of my fellow Canadians are at worlds right now actually, we have high hopes as the scene in Ontario is highly competitive and yet cooperative.

On the Boat (Don't tip the boat over...)
Hastatior replied to Drasnighta's topic in Star Wars: Armada
This. I would bet money that they spent a bit extra to get this on a fast boat. Absolute fail to not be in stores for Christmas. -
Theres a reason I call it Prack (Plastic Crack)

Corellian Conflict: Instating the Draft?
Hastatior replied to ForceSensitive's topic in Star Wars: Armada
I would make it team policy that only ships with veteran status can be upgraded to unique. This means the unique titles will get more value and it also means that the guy flying the ship knows how to keep it alive and kill things with it. We still know so little about how fleets are assembled, modified and shared. -
Jesus dude, where are you buying your stuff?? I don't think I've spent that much and take a look at my sig... I have spent probably that much when i count in all my amazing third party rulers, command tokens, defense tokens line lasers etc Just for fun, that's your price tag Hastatior for only your ship, the core set and two playmate : I put the price from FFG list : Core set -- 1 x 100 = 100$ Map -- 2 x 40 = 80$ Neb-B -- 4 x 20 = 80$ CR90 -- 6 x 20 = 120$ VSD -- 3 x 40 = 120$ AFM2 -- 4 x 40 = 160$ Gladiator 5 x 30 = 150$ Rebel squadron pack -- 4 x 20 = 80$ Imperial squadron pack -- 5 x 20 = 100$ Interdictor -- 2 x 40 = 80$ Liberty -- 2 x 40 = 80$ Gozanti -- 3 x 20 = 60$ GR-75 -- 3 x 20 = 60$ ISD -- 3 x 50 = 150$ MC30 -- 4 x 30 = 120$ Home One -- 3 x 40 = 120$ Raider -- 5 x 20 = 100$ Total before taxes : 1760$ As I said, if you are new to the game, don't get impress by those numbers, yes that's alot of money but you maybe don't need all those. You can divide the two clan between you and your friend to split the total cost. I think Hastatior and me are what we can call real fan of that game. Take it easy Brettdavis, and enjoy the game. My price tag is in Canadian dollars too. I'm in Ontario. Mine is hard to calculate due to being fortunate enough to have received some items for free or reduced cost I won my first ISD at massing at Sullust tournament for free, I bought my second ISD at half price out of pocket because I used tournament prize for the rest, I got a whole R&V pack as a door prize to a tournament. I got my wave 3/4 stuff discounted quite aggressively. on the flip side I spent 130$ on acrylic defense tokens, probably $100 on custom rulers, a bunch of money on acrylic command tokens, I have 2 fancy tackle boxes to store the stuff, probably a couple hundred on paints and brushes. Counting just the game and expansions minus discounts and free stuff I'm probably at around $1500 CND, adding in all the extra stuff probably edging into the $2000 CND range. Having a good relationship with your FLGS store owner goes a long way to getting a good price. When you walk in on Wave 3/4 launch day and pick up 2 of each big ship and 3 of each flotilla you can negotiate a bit on the final bill

do you get both rebel and imperial or do you generally stick to one? I get both because I supply a friend that plays, but I also like having the option to play rebel every now and then. I think I am up to like 9 times playing rebel versus like 50 times Imperial though.

Actually it is. First of all its 134 secondly @ 500 points you get 167 whopping squadron points. I think 10 tie bombers plus imperial aces sounds like A GOOD TIME I stand corrected. Yes, 10 TIE bombers = fun. I love TIE Bombers. The last game I played I brought my standard Rhymerball (Rhymer, 5 TIE Bombers, 2 Jumpmasters, 2 TIE advanced) and was able to use my carrier and flotilla to move my bombers about and around his space superiority fighters. I wonder if space superiority is going to get such a boost out of this that I'll have to up my escorts/intel capacity. I'm thinking the extra points are better spent on space superiority especially if you plan on activating. Who needs intel if all the enemy fighters are dead?

I completely understand how Cluster Bombs work. You will never convince me they are a good upgrade in tournament play. If you can sit there with a straight face and tell me cluster bombs are better than taking ECM or EVEN Advanced Projectors remind me to not take investment advice from you. It's a garbage upgrade that is over-costed, uses a precious upgrade slot and is discard on use! Add the upfront cost plus opportunity cost and compare to utility and it equals: a turd.

Firesprays have their place. I find I miss them when I have to shoot at flotillas with tie bombers. I find bomber command + firesprays = good chance of locking down that scatter and they also have more reliable (if lower) average damage than equivalent points of tie bombers. They also don't have heavy which is great in a balanced list when going against heavy bomber lists. I used to run a mixed fleet with a solid hitting ISD and Demo and a bunch of firesprays, rhymer, Dengar and when facing squadron or bomber heavy fleets I could sacrifice the firesprays to lock down enemies and do AS duty which Tie bombers objectively suck at while my ships carrier-hunted. At the end of the day if you don't want to be throwing a lot of squad commands and don't mind the relative fragility they are good to take. They are a tactical option.

slaved turrets on a vic 1 is great. I play a 3 vic/demo fleet where 2 of the vics have spinal and the third has slaved. Chances of getting double arcs with all 3 vics is typically slim and honestly spamming cf for 5 reds every shot with vader for rerolls and intel officer on all the vics is more fun than I thought it would be. As for that turd of a card Cluster Bombs, its gonna be good for campaign, but I always thought it should be an actual cluster bomb. like it hits the target for whatever damage and then every squad in range 1 for 1 blue die of damage or something and then it becomes a very good card for bomber ball defense.

2 BCC is great in my new 8 bomber list. I can spread out over a large portion of the board for 1 reroll, or focus in one area for double. With Toryn I'm getting 3 rerolls on my B-Wings, that are double tapping thanks to Yavaris. If you're lucky/unlucky enough, you will see it tonight I took an Xwing heavy list to a tournament last weekend and got my face kicked in. I felt a distinct shortage of BCCs with xwings. One was pretty good, but I'm an ace at rolling blanks in a row so 2 BCCs would have upped my average damage considerably.

I actually can't wait for my opponent to try and stack it! Going to be delicious when a judge arbitrarily rules it doesn't stack!!! Like soul crushingly good! BCC wasn't clarified because it doesn't need to be. Very simple to follow RAW and understand they stack. Can you NOT do a toryn Far blue re-roll on a squad because you bomber commanded with it? Rule is you can't have 2 of the same card on 1 ship, check A "while attacking" is done while attacking you can do as many "while attackings" as you have the cards to do effects in that step Ergo, since they are not on the same ship and dont violate the 2 same upgrade rule, they are both "while attacking", as long as the bomber in question is in range of both they both can execute. The fact that some people get hung up because the two cards are the same in NO WAY means that their stacking violates a rule. The fact that it isn't in the FAQ pretty much proves FFG is pretty comfortable that the rules give a pretty clear explanation...

While I 100% understand and agree with this, I do have a few counter points on Cluster Bombs: I played an all ship Mothma Swarm the other week with 3 TRC90s, 2 MC30s, and a flotilla. All three of the CR90s had clusters on them. I was facing a Rhymer ball coupled with an ISD, VSD, and Flotilla. 2nd round, since I have no squadrons, Rhymer shoots at one of the CR90s, I cluster bomb and dish out 4 damage, and then activate the CR and anti squad Rhymer for the kill, making his other 3 bombers mostly useless for the rest of the game. I had a wonderful time and killed a few other squads with CB, so my 15 points ended up netting me like....40-ish points. It's not often you're going to see all-ship lists anymore I don't think. I could be completely wrong but it doesn't seem likely anymore. They could potentially be useful for killing those pesky high hull targets or something. But yes. They're overcosted. And 1 use. And I would never run them in a tournament. Like you said haha. Sure you can come up with "that one time" arguments all day long. All I keep thinking is that you are heaving 15 points of upgrades around and even IF you get to shoot them off, the cost is stupid. I mean, at that cost you are nearly at a flotilla that even if you sacrificed as a flack bomb it STILL would have gotten you more value (extra activation, something else for opponent to shoot at/get obstructed by) Opportunity cost has to be part of the cost calculation not just basic points.
