I’m thoroughly pleased it wasn’t ISD 2 ship or Rieekan Aceholes. Not that a player winning worlds with either doesn’t have to be an extraordinary Armada player, but a player bringing something unique to them and winning with it stands out even more to me

I have a sneaky suspicion they will say at the announcement....
    "Something medium is coming."
and then just leave us in the dark for another 245 days.

Only joking. They would never do something like that to us.
Looking forward to it. Think positive. It's going to be a mother beautiful bridge announcement.

    To summarise @Grumbleduke :
You've got to hold and give
But do it at the right time.
You can be slow or fast
But you must get to the line.
They'll always hit you and hurt you,
    Defend and attack.
There's only one way to beat them:
    Get round the back.
    Catch me if you can
    'Cause I'm the England man
    And what you're looking at
    Is the master plan.

As a Raddus player, this doesn't really marry up with experience.
Deployment is still critical, as you need to get your marker ship/s to a good spot, else you'll waste the big opportunity. When building a list I try to maximise my deployment numbers to ensure I can at least equal my opponents. It matter to the success of Radduss-ing.
As to simply placing in the best position, this is again impacted by deployment but also reality on the field - Raddus isn't an auto 'deploy where you want'. Your main marker shop could be neutralised in some way, or a fighter screen could be used to prevent you landing where you want. I've managed lots of 'great', 'pretty good' and one 'nigh on perfect' Raddus deployment having used him a lot. He isn't a license to go where you want - your opponent has agency in all this.
On top of all this, with Raddus you have one shot. Muck it up and you've wasted your admiral, your big hitter and potentially the marker ship who has been left hanging.
He adds a new experience to the game I think, one that is dramatic, thematic and fun, but very much something that can be countered.

My friend that previously had made me some Star Wars coasters (that I posted in the Salt Break thread) also made me a custom dice tower.

Another friend has an Emperor Palpatine dice tower that he had 3-D printed to use for Armada and X-Wing.  It got me thinking what else is out there.
Does anyone else have an interesting dice tower that they use?

First off Happy Christmas Mods, now...
Today I had a trawl trough looking for the posts regarding crabboks leaked images for the SSD, surprise I could not find them.. I've looked on youtube and now been told by a friend that was also removed...
So I have a few things to say about your joke or a social media marketing team.

    1. When the images where leaked they were quite clearly (unless you are blind) FFG produced, so the fact that crabbok was the one releasing this information and not your own marketing team is a Joke. (from someone who worked in marketing)
    2. Still no news since, no FAQ.. and worlds is fast approaching.

It would have taken you five minutes to have typed something up about Officer Palp and the new cards incoming, and drop it for us. That you didn't does not mean you can remove crabboks and others posts for doing so, it means you have a lazy marketing team. Punish them, not a forgotten community who despite constantly being ignored by FFG still support you.
I know X-wing is the Flagship, and Legion is the new kid on the bloke, and why you are pushing those two mainly.. but you lack of communication with the Armada community is not even funny anymore.
Even in the time it took you to remove ALL the posts regarding the spoilers you've still not put anything up officially to replace what you took away. Do not punish us for your own lazy marketing and customer attention. Especially for a model you're asking people to spend near or over £200 on.

So how about instead of posting yet more doss like this https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2018/12/19/redirect-your-fleet/
Try posting those spoilers from crabbok officially, and maybe some actual armada news and start the new year off right

Thank goodness McSpaceCranes & Sons has the forsight to build those massively oversized construction scaffolds just in case someone ordered a ship 17 times longer than an ISD.  I bet he never let his sons live down trying to convince him he was mad...
...although I bet they look pretty silly when they finish that and the next order is “just one YT-1300 please, standard fittings”.

Do they rule though?  They seemed pretty keen to promote discussion on policy decisions from a wide cross-section of their community.   I’d be more inclined to say they collectively organise than they rule.
Sorry if this is getting too political.

GammonLord got a reaction from The Jabbawookie in New thought, let's try raddus!
Very much agree with this. Lando on the 75 would also be handy - it may have to tank some shots before it gets to fire.
And is it important to have a bid with Raddus? Your Raddus-ing ship can't be the first ship to activate when it arrives, but that includes your opponents - so if youre second player it can be your first.
That said, I'm currently running a Raddus fleet with a huge bid (21 points) - if you set it up right you can last/first with a double arc nicely. Handy in our brave new ISD-heavy world.

Raddus lists don’t generally care about first anyway and four, later five activations won’t be first-lasting much. I’d bid at or near 400.

Dodonna's pride is a poor flagship. If it is upgraded to a CR90A Jaina's Light, then there are some more options. But Dodonna's pride is really an unsafe ship and a poor choice in general, as its use is limited to a single good role. It also really needs leading shots to guarantee that blue crit. So the CR90 should be upgraded to CR90A Jaina's Light, and then Raddus can go on that no problem. Not to mention it's a killer ship in its own right. And absolutely take Lando on the MC30. All this would lead to a bid of 387, which probably won't get first in a tournament against a bidding fleet. So then just throw on some more upgrades, ie. TRC on the CR90, or other such stuff, as Raddus lists don't need first because the Raddus drop ship can't activate first anyway (I may be gravely mistaken on the first/second part, so anyone feel free to correct me).

    Hello !
I do not have a good level of English and I thank my opponents for the patience they have had (as well as all the people who will read my post).
    Congratulations Lightrock for your victory.
It's nice to have faced so many good players in such a short time. I had participated in the European Championship of the last year, but I was able to finish only 24th by fessing a very average performance (special mention for Ben the former European champion who put me 10/1 to my first match). So I came back this year in order to take my revenge.
When Wave 7 came out I was surprised at the lack of love for Thrawn from the English-speaking community when he has such potential. So I decided to build an original list around him to prove that it can be competitive when it is well played (in view of some reactions on this forum I think I have met my goal). Nevertheless, I was able to perform only three preparation games with this list and I changed at the last minute two of my three goals to take more than I had ever played (as a second player) this lack of preparation is what cost me the victory.
I was lucky to have been able to face the two Polish finalists during the tournament. It was a difficult match because their list is an original variant of the archetypes I had prepared for and that they were excellent players. Overall they were better than me in scraping points which allowed them to win with a small margin of victory. Nevertheless, it is in defeat that we learn the most I intend to improve in order to minimize my mistakes in the next games I play.
I'm happy with my list that worked ok and I have the small satisfaction of never having lost the ISD (Thrawn can not die!). My only regret was not being able to face Ben, Tokra and Ginkapo during the championship.

In seriousness, it's not a trivial answer.  I see a lot of ISDs running very light on squadrons, so I think a good old Crackelator has some potential (Cracken TRC90s and a giant pile of YT2400s).  I'm not good at flying that list, but someone who was should be able to do well with it.  Rogues were specifically designed to counter squadronless and squadron-light fleets, and they do it very, very well.
I think the Radish also gives some good options.  I've had some success with the full Profundity/Garel's/RLB nesting doll against them, though I wouldn't call it a "hard counter."
Bail.  Bail Bail Bail.  "Gee, that's a really nice 40-point bid for first you've got there.  Why don't you go ahead and tell me which turn you're going last on, then I'll tell you which turn I'm going first on."
The Fishman Cometh.  In the face of an ISD meta, the good ol' Wave 2 Ackbar toilet bowl's stock goes waaaay up.  Granted the Cymoon is much better at red range than the ISD2 has ever been, but the fishman has picked up some fun toys too.
And both sides' primary squadron builds--Aceholes and Sloane aces--are super effective against ISDs.  I'm not sure what exactlythe skill balance looks like there yet because I haven't seen a lot of this matchup yet in W7, but both should still be quite potent against many ISD-centric builds, and Large ships in general.
