Actually, I can't fathom the concept of being so dependent on an imaginary character as a "role model," based solely on their race or sex, particularly to the point that you would avoid a game or movie which lacks such a character. I don't feel catered to in most forms of media, nor do I feel any need to be catered to - that's what I meant when I said "grow up." The characters of Star Wars are great because of what they did, not because of their skin color or their sex. I don't feel any need to "identify" with them - I just sit back and enjoy the fantasy for what it is. My point is that I don't need someone to look like me to identify with them - why do you? I've played many games with female leads, and I didn't sit there thinking "Wow! This game needs more males!" If you feel "represented" by tiny plastic TIE fighters or X-Wings, then I will leave you to that - whatever floats your boat. Jibberish. Half the fun of this game is that it is set in a fantasy setting; the lore, the fluff, the fun of it is as important as the little plastic ships we push around - whether we are children or adults. And for many people a feeling of empathy and association is as natural a part of that enjoyment as rolling the dice or opening the box on a new shiny. Natural, normal and fun! If then a key demographic tells you they would enjoy the game more if they had more characters that they identified with, why not listen? Strikes me as natural; nobody here is talking about quotas or Vader getting in touch with his inner interior designer. Just a few more female pilots to spread the joy to some new players - that simple! More players means more fun for all of us surely. Jibberish? Right back at'cha! The key question remains unanswered: Do you avoid movies or games because you feel you can't identify with the characters solely on the basis of sex? If so, that is not a normal, natural or fun mindset - it's a sign of over-politicizing everything with a rather sexist bent. It's the same thing as a guy saying "I can't identify with women, so I'm not going to see the new Ghostbusters movie - maybe if it had more men in it." That doesn't strike you as somewhat bizarre and ridiculous? I have no problem if FFG decided to add more female pilots to curry favor with a rising "key demographic" (which doesn't actually exist as anything other than a small minority, and I suspect that the percentage of current female pilots far exceeds the percentage of female X-Wing players), but to claim that there need to be more female pilots because "representation" or "equality" is just silly and obnoxious PC garbage. @ Coldreaver You seem determined to read a political agenda into my post where one patently does not exist. Let me clarify; I am Male White Anglo-Saxon Potestant, and comfortably well-off (achieved without stomping on any homeless people or murdering a single kitten). I could not care less about quotas, gender politics, "equality" or anything else. My politics are my own business, but lean toward the conservative. I do not however see anything wrong with saying that 1) I like women, 2) I would like to play more x-wing (including with women) 3) they are telling us that they would like more female pilots to make the game more fun for them. Where is the "obnoxious" politics in that? One of the only people bringing political garbage into the discussion is you when you misquote other posters to push your own views on what is acceptable. Case in point - you allege that I am claiming that women are a key demographic in the existing x-wing community. Only a moron in a hurry could think such a thing - clearly they currently are not; but it is equally obvious that the point I was making was that they are a key demographic in a general sense (a numerical rather than a political fact) and that it makes perfect sense to want them to feel included in the community. Please stop projecting your own paranoid politics onto others; just because some of us agree with the OP (for all the reasons stated throughout the thread), it does not make us necessarily into paid up feminists boycotting any movie that happens to have a white male lead! Nonsense.

It did! Confusing, because I did not really see a political agenda in the OP (but then I am often blind to these things). On the other hand, if anyone does want to start a Political Movement whose core manifesto is; 1) to play more x-wing; 2) to play more x- wing with the people you love; Well - sign me up siblings, I'm off to paint some placards!!!

As someone stated, the ghost expansion gives some really strong additions to the Lady League. I do agree with the sentiment in the OP however - and it's not political, it's purely practical. My 6 year old daughter now loves Star Wars, and thought the latest film and Rebels were fantastic. Why? Strong girl characters that take the lead and don't need rescuing every five minutes! She can relate to them, she can play at being them - and best of all she wants a "ghost" model when it comes out so that she can play space ships with her daddy! So yes please; more good female pilots = more accessibility to more people = more new players...

A question... Zuckuss pilot says I can take any number of stress, to receive any number of attack die (but you get an equal number of defence die). Is this capped anywhere? If not, Zuckuss can one shot anything in the game! I mean, each attack/defence dice taken additionally is worth 1/8 of a hit ( if my maths are right). I declare 120 additional attack dice (taking 120 stress LOL) - that is 15 extra hits on average getting through. Could be funny...

Let the slow drum-roll commence...

Imperials just got a 104% jousting efficency superfighter with a white Kturn. Your argument is invalid. Yes, Imperials should count themselves lucky. All my Scum got out of Wave 7 was a nasty drug habit... So unfair!

No, but a single Lambda does if you remove the docking clamps and use a big ball of blutac...

I do. And if in passing it encourages FFG to make bigger, better fancier Shinies, then so much the better!

"Und willst du nicht mein Bruder sein, so schlag ich dir den Schädel ein"?

Because we asked him to?

A bit of touching up on a model that size, from a small manufacturer, is probably somewhat inevitable. She sure looks great though! Let us know how the rules work out (that dial is generating a Crazy amount of energy). Really nice to see a bad story turn out good for at least one person.

Congratulations! Great story. I have a 6 and a 3 year old, and frankly they are the best things that ever happened in my little world. Hard work - but entirely worth it. Your wife is spot on right pushing you to take a break from it all however ( even for just a couple of hours) - it is good for the soul, and thereby good for the children. Reciprocate! She might even let you teach them "the glorious game" in a couple of years...

That is fantastic news! I was really sad for you in the other thread when it appeared you were going to get stuffed worse than our Christmas turkey! Now, I am afraid jealousy has replaced sympathy... Truly - enjoy it (and good on space rocks for getting it to you).

...or JumpMaster 5000 Both need some previewing Absolutely! FFG need to know that we all have tons of unused Christmas money that we will shower upon them in return for bombarding us with a series of personalised "your life could be complete if you just buy this" type articles... Come on FFG - give me a dream to dream!!!

Rouge Squadron? The cross-dressing, make-up wearing nancies with their x-wing panty-liners... Also fora (not forums). Also Effenhoog = hilarious!

Just a clip. Give it a wiggle!

A Stormtrooper helmet! Unfortunately a WW2 German one, not a Star Wars one. My father in law has - an odd taste in gifts. My daughter on the other hand got loads of cool Star Wars stuff, including a Lego Millenium Falcon, which took me over 5 hours to build for her (she is 6), while she ran round dressed as Rey bashing all of our guests with her two new Light Sabres. Glorious. I do have a second Gozanti on order though...

Please explain the advantage of Epic ships to me.
Geronimos Hoss replied to Stormtrooper721's topic in X-Wing
Also, as I understand it, Huge ships absolutely wreck low agility large base ships that can be a threat to your fighter swarms. They did this before, but do it even more with the Gozanti upgrades. It's a sort of rock, paper scissors deal -
Rather not get sucked into the mire of global consumer law. I still maintain that this piece is intentionally detachable. I hope the OP gets his model sorted, Merry Xmas!

Panic not. This is exactly how mine came, and also the one on an unboxing video I saw. I think it is meant to be like this and it really is no problem to clip back on, and it fits snugly enough to stay in place. Perhaps you leave it off if you don't use the Broadcast array or some such. Go ahead and open the gorgeousness! If you are still not happy, then you will still be able to contact FFG. Merry Xmas

Does anybody else see a bit of a resemblance to Bender from Futurama? New title card?

Modifying the game for younger player education
Geronimos Hoss replied to ThirdStormtrooperOnTheLeft's topic in X-Wing
I play with my daughter and when we started we took the planning phase out of the game for her. She was allowed to pick a maneuver on the dial when her ship activates and can place the template down to see where the ship will end up. The next stage was to introduce the planning phase and then have her pick a maneuver at that time but be able to use the templates to see where she would end up. Doing something similar over new year with my daughter. When Ghost arrives, Hera will have almost this effect anyway - why I love the sound of that ship so much; it almost comes with Training Wheels!
