  1. Never thought of using draw their fire like that but can see how would be good even if saves one nasty crit. I find Airen almost always gets focused down first in a similar way. Just don't put Corean on a rock, that ends badly
  2. Yeah, this is the list that I have probably used the most and have always flown exactly as you say. Initially tried formation but really didn't seem to work that way. Took it to regionals and it was fun but also a real slog, a lot of matches went to time! I used to run it with Jake but found that next to the Juke GSP's he wasn't doing much damage and was also a really obvious target. With 4 ships all the same I find opponents are more likely to spread their fire, mostly because they forget who they shot at!

  4. I'm considering running him with a regen Poe so there would be another threat in the list but either ship getting focused down is always a worry

With the alt art Corran card coming up thought I'd try to bring him back but am torn between two builds for him: VI, FCS and R2-D2 - 42 points PTL, FCS, R2-D2 and EU - 48 points I find PTL Corran is either an end game beast (1 on 1 so hard to take down) or ends up being easily chased down due to reliance on green manoeuvres. VI Corran loses the double action to turtle and also the boost but is less reliant on green manoeuvres and can move after PS9 aces to avoid getting lined up for some range one hurt. And he's cheaper! Regardless of what the remainder of the squad is which build would you say is best?
  7. Have just done a few practice games and counted how often each pilot uses AT's (there was no astromech on Ello and R2 on Poe to get within the points). I only counted where they had to use them to avoid damage and the results were: 10 - Poe 8 - Ello 2 - Jake Gets me to thinking would actually be better to have the AT's on the 2 T-70's and just let Jake go without. I think the evade token and extra defence die, as well as the extra threat posed by Ello and Poe mean that Jake is gonna miss out. Sensible option but doesn't feel right
  8. Hi I'm looking at running regen on Ello and Poe and PTL on Jake. All of then will have VI but this only leaves me with 4 points so someone misses out on AT's. It makes sense for the A-wing to get AT's as the T-70's can use IA but which option to go for? Ello misses out - ability is less defensive but a good arc dodger anyway so may get shot at less Poe misses out - ability operates defensively anyway so potentially less vulnerable Both miss out - 2 point initiative bid could be useful with running 2 PS9 pilots. Or do I go totally left field and switch out Ello for Luke who can't use AT's anyway, problem solved. Sort of

  11. I'd agree with the experts, AT's .....but up till a few days ago I was black and silver only pilot, so I like 'em both on red interceptors. Question: how do you fly your A group? Swarm or singles? It depends really. If the opponent has ships that don't really scare me (e.g. ties) will go in formation for the first couple attacks to focus them down and break off. However, if it is something a little more scary I may start off split and see which was they go and get the one they go for out of harms way and flank with the others. Even if I start in formation after a couple attacks I normally try to split off as don't really want to get bogged down in a fuzzball scenario as too much chance of bumping. I prefer to break off and come back again

  13. Hi all I'm running 4 Green Squadron A-wings and can't decide between stealth devices or AT's with a 4pt bid, (could be useful against the PS3 u-boats). I've done the math and it looks like a bit of a toss up. Unsurprisingly better with AT's when they can kick in and SD when they don't. Has anyone run similar lists and found to be better than the other?
  14. I was mid-table all day so luckily didn't meet any u-boats but it finishing with all of the top 4 was a shame. With only 5 of the top 8 being u-boats I hoped something else may sneak in "Only"? Yeah, I may not have phrased that well but yesterday's x-wing has fried my brain

  16. My concern would be against his PS ace lists it's quite possible that Keyan may only get one or even no attacks. Also any decent player isn't likely to take a couple shots at Keyan then decide to go for Corran or vice versa. It's likely to be full commitment on one or the other and I'm not sure Keyan could handle it...but I'm often proved wrong!
  17. I think for that change, thy could have an A-Wing only missile upgrade that increases their attack by 1, but it would need to cost a few points I think. I'd quite happily pay an extra couple points for the extra attack
  18. Increase A-wing attack by 1 but make it so cannot then use the refit.
  19. I've not got R5-P9, if I did would probably try it out instead. Seems the consensus is for Poe. I think I just need to be more careful of leaving him in positions where he may get in trouble.

I'm currently looking at a list with: Ello Asty (33) - T-70 X-Wing Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2) Jake Farrell (28) - A-Wing Push The Limit (3), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Veteran Instincts (1) But can't decide between: "Red Ace" (38) - T-70 X-Wing R2-D2 (4), Comm Relay (3), Autothrusters (2) Or Poe Dameron (38) - T-70 X-Wing Veteran Instincts (1), R2-D2 (4), Autothrusters (2) In the past I've find that Poe can get focused down really quickly and adding him makes it a real ace hunter list. Red Ace would be more of a tank with Poe and Jake flanking and should survive a lot longer. Any thoughts?

I ran VI Jake with 3 Juke and PTL GSP's at a tournament on Saturday and went away with 3 wins and 2 defeats which may not sound great but first time over 5 games i've won more than i've lost (and the first time with all a-wings) and left me 12 out of 24. Funnily enough it felt like Jake was the weak link but his repositioning was useful at times. Juke a-wings do a lot more damage than standard though (when they're pointing in the right direction).
  23. Personally, I would be a bit torn. At 22 points, you can just take a blue squad b-wing. PTL + autothrusters is not bad though, since its annoyingly hard to kill (as long as you can keep it from taking multiple shots each turn). I know, to be honest most times I would go the blue squadron route but just fancy trying the a's for a bit of fun
  24. Slightly linked to this topic if running a PTL Green Squad a-wing with only 22 pts available which would you go for: Autothrusters and not make use of the second EPT slot (unless using adaptability) Juke for extra damage output but reduced durability Or is it just a coin toss?
  25. Or i guess you could drop the AT's and have 5 with PTL and adaptability. Could be fun but they'd be a little more vulnerable
