  2. Oh yeah, you'd have to hit the right list. Jake against anything too beefy will die quickly. He did really well against a Kanan, Kayan list as he was manoeuvrable enough to avoid the autoblaster/accuracy corrector and was able to keep out of main arc. Then it was just a case of plinking a shield and a hull off at a time for about 60 minutes once Keyan had been procketed. And definitely Lone Wolf (or Predator) over Expertise with Luke but expertise Han does hit harder if you can keep the stress off
  3. For an a-wing I'd almost be happy for the chardaan refit title just to add another missile slot. It needed the 2 point reduction (at least) at that time but the penalty it adds when you add munitions takes it out of an ordinance heavy meta
  4. First I totally agree with Tbetts, Han needs the engine upgrade. I'd probably also throw Gunner on there instead of Chewbacca. If you're going to play as a solo Solo you don't want to be in a war of attrition. I think it's going to be more important to take things out quickly and to avoid getting shot at rather than try to avoid the shots altogether. As far as the challenge itself goes I have pretty much single handedly taken out a few lists with just the standard 33pt Jake Farrell after his wingmates have gone down in the first round of shooting. And it would be a pretty decent initiative bid
  5. Mine would be for the a-wing. Amend/replace Chardaan Refit with a card at -1 cost that allows you to attack with an extra dice. Then flip the card. You then have to spend a token to flip the card back over again (so a little like intensity) but does not just bump them up to a 3 dice attack.

    I've done fairly well with the following: 4 x Green Squadron Pilot w/ PTL, Juke, Refit, Title and AT's. This comes in at 24 pts each but there wasn't really much more to add. I have tried replacing one of them with either a PTL, Swarm Leader GSP or PTL VI Jake but this seems to work best. A-wings don't do too much damage but if you get 4 pointing at the same thing with Juke triggering they can do some damage. I've tried the Snap/Juke list and found it too fragile but I may have been flying it wrong. In the munitions department I usually favour: 4 x Green Squadron Pilot w/PTL, Prockets, Title and Guidance Chips. At the time I had Adaptability as triple jumps were a thing and I wanted to have the PS advantage but these days trick shot may be a good call, not that I play much these days.
  7. Hi all I've been out of the game for a while due to the distractions of fatherhood but there is a wave 1-3 tournament coming up that I am very much tempted by. As the name would suggest it is for wave 1-3 ships and upgrades only plus Rebel and Imperial Aces. I'm looking to stick to what I know and run a Han and Jake list but it's currently missing C3-PO, Autothrusters and Predator. To be honest the elite abilities from these waves are pretty underwhelming apart from VI and PTL. This is what I have so far: Jake Farrell VI PTL Title Prockets Hull Upgrade/Shield Upgrade/Stealth Device Han Solo Marksmanship/Determination/VI Gunner/Luke Skywalker Chewbacca/Navigator Engine Upgrade Title Jake is easy as he is just a toss up between the 3 mods, stealth device could be really frustrating for my opponents as he is likely to be equipped with focus and evade most turns but the others are more 'reliable'. For Han there are still elite talents and crew up in the air. Elite - I have kind of talked myself out of Marksmanship as my actions will mostly be used to evade or boost and Luke offers some offensive mods. VI is a solid choice but it may be a benefit to have both ships at the same PS for easier manoeuvring. The Falcon does not have enough green's for PTL really but given the large hull value Determination could useful. Crew - I think the only way I would take gunner is if I was using marksmanship so it is likely to be Luke. Chewbacca offers some more defensive options and will allow me to dodge a nasty crit whilst navigator should help to avoid bumping (although I've never used it). ATM (and for sheer fluffiness on the falcon) I'm looking at: Jake Farrell (34) VI PTL Title Prockets Stealth Device Han Solo (63) Determination Luke Skywalker Chewbacca Engine Upgrade Title Any thoughts on this are more than welcome though as I was not playing at this stage so not sure what to expect to see there (except probably TIE swarms)

Well this is pretty fun but also a right pain if you try to get too clever with it: PS9 Poe PTL, BB-8, Pattern Analyser, Black One, AT's Jake PTL, VI, Title, Prockets (or Cruise Missiles), AT's Ahsoka VI, Capured TIE and up to 5 points of extras (Rey, BMST, EMP Device) All PS9 and slippery as heck. Poe revealing a green, BR with BB8 strip a target lock and then can PTL to adjust line with a boost and drop another lock and can then focus. However, I have tried to get too clever with this in the past and parked him right infront of an Inquisitor with Prockets and also flown him off the board. However, Poe really hates TLTs

  12. Intensity is an elite where once per round when you perform a barrel roll or boost manoeuvre you can acquire a focus or evade token. Once you do this you flip the card and at the end of the combat phase you have to spend a focus or evade token to flip the card over again.

  15. I'm referring to it as the 'fun' 5 point bid. I forgot saboteur was 2 points, thought it was just the one. I think saboteur is prob the best option then
  16. That looks very much like the one that I ran last weekend (have you been nicking my lists, lol), except from the fact that I had no crew and a (totally unnecessary) 5 point initiative bid. It was fun, if fragile. I went 2-3 but two of those defeats were due to my either getting too clever with Poe/BB-8 shenanigans or forgetting to strip target locks. I think when intensity comes out I will be swapping out PTL and Pattern Analyser for Intensity and Primed Thrusters as the ability to get an evade token on Poe could be really useful. Also a leftfield option on Ahsoka could be saboteur. I know it's normally a rubbish upgrade but if she does not need her actions for evade or barrel rolls why not have a shot at turning an opponents hit to a crit.
  17. I like her next to aces, but I just find that she really struggles to keep up. I think it may be worth it just to add the EMP device so that she is still a threat, especially to large base ships who stray near the edge of the board. This looks like great fun, I assume the idea is to park Poe behind rocks and shoot before BB-8ing out from behind them
  18. Challenge accepted and went 2-3, but 2 of those defeats were my fault. Game 1 managed to forget to remove a target lock when boosting so got hit by deathfire's ion Pulse Missiles, he then forced a bump next turn and ended up doing a 1 forward after that to drop clusters on my poor Poe. After that my one hull Poe, after trying to BB-8 boost out of trouble was left either having to go over a rock or dangerously close to the board edge. Went close to the board edge and next turn went off. Was totally in control before then and had taken all the shields off Quickdraw whilst he did not have anyone in arc and also had all the shields off my opponents inquisitor so was a bit disappointing. Game 2 was going my way again again RAC and another inquisitor before I parked Poe in front of a procket laden Inquisitor after truing to be too clever with bb-8 boost shenanigans. Again Poe goes boom and that was pretty much game. Jake did his best but it was frustrating as one more attack on the deci with Poe would have taken him off the board but I just got impatient and pushed too soon. Game 3 against a prototype pilot a-wing, 48pt Corran and a VI BB-8 snap Wexley went very well and I didn't even lose a shield. With the PS advantage I was able to dictate nicely. Game 4 against a Jess, 2xBlue Squad novice and TLT y-wing was a tough match for Poe who had no defence against the TLT and he was more or less gone by the time it got taken out. Jake followed shortly after under the weight of fire from a very well flown swarm. The last game was vs an Ahsoka, Shara and Nora list with swarm leader and Finn that can put out 8 damage at range 1. Luckily I avoided that and the target lock stripping was really helpful in neutralising Norra and Shara's abilities. After Norra went down my opponent conceded. Overall it was quite a fun list to fly but I do have to be really careful not to bump or get in range of a lot of guns. I didn't get to see any scouts or Fenn which is what my list was really prepped for but Ahsoka was really not pulling her weight so changes will be needed if I do stick with the non-regen version of Poe - possibly Biggs.
  19. Challenge accepted. I've run this with an R2-D2, Predator and Sensor Cluster Poe at 45pts and went 3-2 so it's doable
  20. That's my favoured version but wary of the 97 point Fenn lists. Not having to worry about bumping with Ahsoka and still getting the actions is pretty handy though. Boshek could be fun too though
  21. I'm pretty much set on my two main ships for store champs. I know they're not exactly the strongest but they're fun to fly: Jake Farrell w/ PTL, VI, Title, Prockets and ATs (33pts) Poe Dameron (PS9) w/ PTL, BB-8, Pattern Analyser, Black One and ATs (43pts) BB-8 Poe over regen is pretty much a meta call as I expect to see quite a lot of jump masters sporting torpedoes so the BB-8 PTL Black One combo should strip a couple TL's a turn if needed. Jake can hopefully dodge them and also even if he does get caught by one some lucky defence dice should mean he can fend most of it off. This leaves 24 points but given the lists reliance on arc dodging I think I'll need a decent initiative bid so I may only really have 20/21 points to spend. My options are pretty much: Ahsoka with VI and Captured Tie and maybe BMST to had out actions and be a threat to stressed ships. Downside is that the other ships are very slippery and it may be limiting trying to keep in range 1 of Ahsoka. Also there are quite a lot of lists with PS9+ ships included. GSP w/PTL and possibly trick shot. Can be used as a blocker and can also take a lot of damage as I don't want to fill the list with a ship that'll hang around for a couple rounds then get taken out for easy MOV for my opponent. Which do you guys think is the best call?

  23. Unfortunately I'm without a YT2400 so Dash is out but he would be a good option otherwise. I'm also aiming to have a decent initiative bid as I really want to be arc-dodging (or at the very least not allowing my opponent to line up perfect range 1 Fenn shots!
  24. I tried a couple test games with Biggs and I really struggle with using him. I think I'm much more of an arc dodger. the 24pt y-wing build did get me thinking about the 24pt PTL/Juke a-wing build I run in a mini swarm. Can block, fairly hard to take down so preserves MOV and Juke means it can still be a threat. May like that more than Ashoka, Biggs or Stresshog. The actual Poe build will need some experimentation though.
  25. I think it's a bit of a toss up between PA and PTs. The PT's mean I can activate BB-8 when stressed on the BB-8 build but the PA means I can talon roll and still focus. It's a pretty tough choice. No love for regen Poe?
