  1. New Orders and Board Wars podcasts are working together to bring you the Imperial Assault Skirmish Map Project. The project continues the lovely work started by @ibsh to create beautiful images for every Imperial Assault Skirmish Map. These maps serve two purposes: Skirmish maps have been added to the Boardwars.eu and the Imperial Assault Image DB where they can be searched and referenced Printable map groups are available for the current Imperial Assault tournament rotation as well as a full download of all the maps for printing. The project homepage is on GitHub. Please check those links for more info and use this new thread or GitHub for questions and feedback.
  2. Yes, won't have time today probably but will do it this weekend for sure. I'll update this post when done. Regen is done. You might want to redownload any you were planning to print as the regeneration touched a few PDFs. PS: FWIW Printi.com vinyl seems to be out of stock right now. I hope this comes back soon otherwise we'll have to find another US-based printer.
  3. @Fightwookies found a mistake in the Tarkin Labs map with the position of the experimental weapons next to the yellow console on the minimap. Sorry that this mistake wasn't caught earlier, but luckily is was symmetric and should have had only a minimal effect on gameplay. Here's the fixed & updated map: Note that the updated map has indicators overlaid onto the main map to help differentiate it from the previous version. I also bumped the text size of the instructions to be the same size as newer printouts since there was plenty of room.

    And if you want 300DPI assets, all the tiles have been scanned for the Skirmish map project. Many have been edited down to the individual tiles, though other's remain scans. DM me for an invite.

  6. The final map from Lothal is ready! Again thanks to scans from @leacher and @Oslatir along with lots of image editing work from @lorunks and particularly @fabiofotomoto I’m pleased to have a version of the Imperial Tower skirmish map from Thrawn's pack ready: (Woah, 2 floors is different! 😳) You can find the full res version and printing instructions on the project website. I've updated all the printable strips for Lothal and the full set of all maps too. JSON metadata is also complete for @kingargyle streaming software. BTW: I got my printouts for some maps on this wave a few weeks ago: the tweaks we made with larger font sizes and on-map indicators are a nice upgrade. Maybe worth upgrading previous maps... someday. As for the 4 player map from HotE, I'm kinda burned out right now but if someone wants to take charge of editing tiles and assembling, you're welcome to get in touch so I can share the files with you.
  7. I added doors (though not to the printable strips yet, I'll pick up those changes in the next Lothal map generation). You may need to refresh the page to see changes here. Interestingly, the door between the outdoor and indoor areas is incorrectly placed in the middle of a space (see picture). @a1bert and I agreed it made more sense moved towards the indoor area so I did so on my map. LMK if there's an official ruling that moves it elsewhere though.

Again thanks to scans from @leacher and @Oslatir along with lots of image editing work from @lorunks and particularly @fabiofotomoto I’m pleased to have a version of the Devaron Garrioson skirmish map from Sabine and Zeb's pack ready: (Nice compact map 😀) You can find the full res version and printing instructions on the project website. I also updated the printable strips so you can print the current-ish tournament rotation of Uscru-Tarkin-Lothal as well as the 4 current Lothal-wave maps (only 1 more Lothal maps to create). @Isnigu, in the Lothal wave I increased the font size for the rules. I'm waiting for my prints to arrive soon to see how it turns out, but let me know if it helps if you have before/after to compare.

Again thanks to scans from @leacher and @Oslatir along with lots of image editing work from @lorunks and particularly @fabiofotomoto I’m pleased to have a version of the Lothal Spaceport skirmish map ready: (I was able to crunch this into a narrow size so folks can save a bit of money on prints.) You can find the full res version and printing instructions on the project website. I also updated the printable strips so you can print the current-ish tournament rotation of Uscru-Tarkin-Lothal as well as the 3 current Lothal-wave maps (though there are 2 more Lothal maps to create still). Printi (for USA) and PixArtPrinting (for EU & rest of the world) both have Black Friday sales with about 30% discounts, so now is a great time to order. Check the details on each site but generally it look like PixArt ends on November 25th and Printi goes for a few more days ending on the 27th. (You might also try coupon code TRYPRINTI15 on Printi for an additional 15% off, just worked for me). @robertpolson 4-Player from HotE is not being actively worked on but I still plan to do it when I have some free time after the Lothal maps are complete.

I have not updated the printable strips yet, but will do so once the rest of this wave is ready (you can also generate your own printable strips with the Python code). I did update the table of all maps on the main page as well as the JSON mapping for @kingargyle's streaming software.

I have not updated the printable strips yet, but will do so once the rest of this wave is ready which @fabiofotomoto is working on presently (you can also generate your own printable strips with the Python code). We've made a few tweaks to the layout on this map including small symbols on the full-size map to help with setup. Please let me know if you have pro/con thoughts on these updates. The plan is to continue with these changes for the rest of the Lothal wave.

    An Ode to Rebel Graffiti

    FWIW: Splinter Cell seems designed to address 3 issues in order to make the all-Spectre list competitive: Lack of Trait Synergy Lack of Focus/Move-other-figure support Limit of 6 activations I think that this list-assist was needed and I'm hoping that having a straightforward & thematic list helps bring new players to the skirmish game. However, the degree to which it accomplices this while maintaining an appropriate power levels for both stray Spectres and the Spectre list as a whole is something that's going to take the community a few months to really iron out.

    Death Troopers. Thoughts so far?

    Yeah I know. It's kind of a nonbo, but there's still plenty of room in your list for other Troopers & Leaders. I was surprised heavies didn't get a mention here already. To be clear: I'm not saying this is a tier 1 strategy but I think it's one of the best uses of the power tokens eDTs hand out. Blast 2 is really good (so good they had to take it off the Rebel Sabs).

    What about pairing eDT with eHeavy Stormtroopers to give out surges to the Heavies? There was a winning strategy like this using Blaise to hide them for a while but eDT's are more reliable giving Surge Power Tokens than Blaise ability to hide Troopers. Heavies have 2 good surges (2 dmg & Blast 2) and but low chance to roll them off of Blue Red attack.
  16. I can scan them once I get my copy but to get the ball rolling I could use scans from someone else. @IndyPendant If you can fit the cardboard sheet fully on the scanner bed it could work. You could just send me a sample that I could compare to the existing scans from the core set. I'll pm you a place to upload if you have time to try it. Thanks. I heard back from @leacher he's waiting for his copy and will scan and upload once it arrives. Yay! Thanks all. Update for November 2018: tiles are scanned but maps still need to be built. Probably won't happen until winter break in December.
  17. I don't have my own copy of Lothal yet (waiting for a friend to paint it). I was hoping @leacher would be able to scan the tiles as he generously did last time, but I haven't heard from him recently. If anyone else has access to a flatbed scanner they could help out by scanning the Lothal map tiles at 600 DPI. The catch is that it cuts down a lot of work if the tiles are scanned before they're punched out of the cardboard (then you can use the corner of the flatbed scanner to keep them at a constant & straight angle and avoid having to rotate them later, plus the bleed helps the later retouching). If you can help out please pm me. I can give you a place to upload the scans. Thanks.

    Doing is own skirmish maps easily

    With my work on the Imperial Assault Skirmish Map Project I've got a bunch of high-dpi scans of all the tiles. Many have been edited to remove the puzzle-piece borders. Happy to share them with you or anyone. DM me an email to send an invite to the Google Drive shared folder (Gmail accounts work best here). Also, to be double clear: every existing map is made of core-set tiles, or core-set plus 1 expansion. PS: there are several existing projects to combine X-Wing and IA. I don't have any links handy but be sure too search around for existing work.
  23. Thanks to lots of help editing the HotE B-Side tiles from @lorunks I've updated the map project with 2 new skirmish maps today! We've got the 30th Floor Plaza from the expansion box and Coruscant Back Alleys from Maul's pack. Enjoy their trash-littered & neon-lit beauty: I've also updated the GitHub project page with more links and details including an updated HotE strip with all 4 skirmish maps. As always, let me know if there are any errors. Because I know folks will ask: the 4-player HotE map and the upcoming Lothal map are both is in-the-works. @lorunks has been diligently working on getting the map tiles ready for both of those. I plan to work on them more soon. And @leacher is already planning to scan the Lothal tiles for us, as he did for HotE too.     @Kalandros, something you might be missing (that others might be too), is that when a figure picks up an experimental weapon they only get to use it once per activation. Meaning, a regular Stormtrooper group of three figures would get one 3-die attack and two 2-die attacks assuming the group one figure had picked up a weapon (and there were no other other effects). At least that's how I read it, quoted below:
