  1. At what times does a strike become a critics strike rather then inflicting fatigue? Only when the strike can’t be defended against? Can a character wearing armour be subjected to a critics strike before falling unconscious? Can a character wearing no armour ever avoid s critical strike?
  2. I disagree. Involving the other people from that world - either directly with Rokugan or in their own stories/game - just adds more depth and options to the world. This doesn't mean Rokugan should be constantly invaded or have forgieners in their country at all times, but ignoring everything else completely......
  3. but they must own SOME of the other cultures in the world, haven't a couple of them been mentioned on fictions?
  4. Yes - it was just hte bayushi after the coup and the rest of hte clan later on - however I think the point still stands and FFG won't split up the characters and clans, use them launch other products etc...
  5. Remember AEG used the coup to send the scorpion to the burning sands and start up a second card game. If FFG doesn't intend on doing that the desire to remove one of the clans will be greatly reduced (though I would like to see the Burning Sands, Thrane, Yodotai, etc...)
  6. Splashing some Crab can help as well Watch Commander is a pretty good attachment to bleed your opponent of some honor. Levy can be pretty punishing late game as well.
  7. You don't take it away, that's a newbie move. You delete all his saved game files. That'll learn him.
  8. Is there even a section for story related info? And you might want a better writer
  9. I always thought a simple way to sum the difference's was Dragon Monks = Shaolin Monks Phoenix Monks = Tibetan Monks
  10. Its a great start to a new wiki but it seems to be focused entirely on game material and missing story, setting, history and character info
  11. The rules work and do represent the game world (this isn't say they are perfect) 1) If the duelist and the non-duelist each pick 0 honor on their dial (which would be a 100% contest of skill) the duelist wins (assuming they challenged someone with a lower stat/not as good as them). This shows their superior skill. 2) Someone who isn't as skilled can still win through other means. Just because there are rules doesn't mean "cheating" can't happen. 3) You're confused on the rules. If a scoprion bids 5 to a crane duelists 2, and thus wins the duel through dishonorable means, the scropion has to give the crane honor. The scropion loses honor and hte crane gains it. 4 Not all duels are to the death/deathly.
  12. As its been pointed out, a character can die and still have a card. But look at other LCG's FFG does, we'll probably get multiple versions of the clan champions.
  13. I ts not a matter of not being able to figure it out - its starting a conversation about an aspect of the game I didn't see being talked about.
  14. What are the best clan splash's (given the limited amount of influence each clan has, I think that's all we can call them) have you found so far?
  15. But I dunno if you can consider a character who can't start a duel when it would be benefical to them, but only respond, and would only be "as good" in certain situations "as good" at it. Is the effect mediocre?
  16. at worst dragon will be a close second to the Crane. I doubt they'll make a change that big/fundemental to them.
  17. I would certainly say that the Crane and Dragon should have the same kind of leg up in dueling that Phoenix have with Spells and shugenja. But like Spells and Shugenja, every clan should have access and their own.......flavor. Bayushi duelists cheat. Hida duelists don't be faster but absorb the first hit and kill their opponent after, Shiba are better when a shugenja is around etc..
  18. One thing regarding the Crane I haven't seen brought up. I assume the Crane are going to want to gain a lot of honor - either the players will want to push an honor victory, or they'll want to use that honor to power their card draw and dueling. Given that honoring their characters is a big factor in Crane decks, would it not make sense for the Crane to buy more characters with little to no fate investment? If you have 3-4 guys instead of 1 or 2, are able to honor them all before the end of the turn, that nets you 4 honor. Rinse and Repeat.
  19. Depends on the clan. Dragon using fate would be interesting. They never figured this balancing out with AEG. And there is the above flavor thing - it doesn't make a lot of sense in world.
  20. I didn't come to that conclusion. I came to the conclusion that duelist will be treated like a trait like the other ones we've seen and I HOPE they don't make the same mistake AEG made and give everyone access. "hopefully one lesson FFG learned from AEG is to give all clans access to dueling and not making it exclusively a Crane/Dragon thing" - Reading for the win.
  21. I would be surprised if we don't see political duels. I would assume once we see the whole set and start getting boosters that Dragon will have more military duels and crane more political ones.
  22. come on - you agree with me then said its too early to tell, and bringing it up is just complaining to complain. Either you agree with my very logical assumption about the duelist trait (which you apparently do) which is what could lead to the pitfall's I'm saying I hope they are goign to avoid, or you don't (though you said you do so.....) The other option is you give the other clans something....comparative. Dueling became an issue in the CCG when two clans had access to powerful (arguable the most powerful at times) offensive/card removal in the game or honor gain, and the other 5-7 clans had no real answer for it. If ninja or bitter lies, and Deathseeker and Berserker and battle maiden etc.... while not working in the same way (ie - I doubt they'll use the betting wheel thing) if they are of comparative strength ..... then its a wash. There is also the....flavor of dueling. It makes no sense from an in world perspective for only 2 clans to be any good at dueling. When you can boil any political issue or disagreement down to a duel, there wouldn't only be two clans that specialize in it. It makes no sense, the Crane and Dragon would be able to get anything they wanted politically while every other clan would be left out.
  23. to booster or augment - absolutely. But it woudl kinda suck if every other clan has to play ronin just to make up for that lack. No one would agree that 3-4-5 clans should need to rely on ronin or imperial characters for shugenja or courtiers or bushi......duelist shouldn't be any different.
