Gamesontables reacted to Schmoozies in L5R Path Forward?
They've already confirmed that rotation will happen at the beginning of Cycle 5 and the 2 oldest sets will cycle out at that time, after that with the beginning of the release of the odd number cycles they will rotate out the two oldest sets so that we have an active card pool of the most current core set, 2-4 cycles, the most current clan pack for each faction and the assorted deluxe boxes which will rotate on their own schedule essentially from the sounds of it on a case by case basis.
I wouldn't expect revised core until just before the start of cycle 5 at this point as the ideal plan would be take some of the key cards from the rotating cycles and reprint them in core while you cycle out some of the problem core cards that are acting as an anchor on design and reprint your errata's if needed.
After that you likely can leave the core untouched for a while and use clan packs and Deluxe boxes to "rescue" staple cards from rotation if you feel its necessary.
Going forward once we have revised core I would expect them to fall into a roughly two year rotation cycle that includes 2-3 pack cycles, a 1-2 Deluxe boxes and likely 3-4 clan packs.

Gamesontables got a reaction from TwiceBorn in what LCG will be the next to die?
I love LotR, but I am at the point now where there is so much great content, I could settle for them committing to 1 more cycle and then just doing maybe 1 big box a year for a while.

I certainly have high hopes for it. I don't own it...yet...but as the game gains traction it'll snowball into greater and greater numbers. Those early adopter stalwarts will make or break this game! Stay strong and play in public!!!

Gamesontables reacted to LordPyrex in SIX MONTHS!
The scenarios range in many different lengths, and there are are multiple variants as well as win conditions, some of which come up in the middle of play. It's not the same as saying that it's like the same level of a video game over and over. Not to mention that you are getting more components by way of tiles, monsters, and game parts. There's a reason Monopoly only costs $12, so please take all that into consideration.

I would add one other suggestion: decrease the number of tournament-legal cycles. This would allow new players to jump into the game at a lower price point and would allow FFG to re-release more of the old objective sets with minor alterations or old cards in new objective sets.

Apps are great, but I like the feeling of grabbing my own chaos, "shall I take this one....".
Leuchttrum makes excellent Ultra coin caps, I'll recommend the 25 mm, a perfect fit.

Can you provide a link to it please? When I search Arkham I get a million batman apps, or apps for the arkham board games.

That eJango/eVeers seems very very nasty.

Gamesontables got a reaction from Icelom in Is there a plan for creating judges?
How can you have qualified judges without having competitive play experience?
Maybe not quite a cart before the horse, but definitely a chicken / egg question!
In effect, how can you have qualified judges without competitive play, but how can you have competitive play without qualified judges.
That's why my point was that this will be an interesting case study to see how FFG rolls it out because those judges are going to need some competitive play experience up front.
One approach, that I kind of like, would be that stores nominate judges based on their regular "Destiny Game Night" players who express interest. In exchange, FFG sets up a "qualification test" online that those judges must pass and be endorsed by at least one local store owner. With both of those things in place, they can be official judges for competitive play events. In exchange, from FFG, they lavish these early judges with exclusive product to entice people who are stoked for competitive play to forego playing to be judges so they don't feel like they're walking away empty handed in an area that might only feature one venue where competitive play happens.

Gamesontables reacted to Starbane in lack of supply
I have to wonder if you've lived a sheltered gaming life, are unfamiliar with FFG product launches, or live in a large city with many well stocked gaming stores if this is the first time this has ever happened to you. I live in a small city of almost 400,000 with two nice and fairly well stocked game shops and this seems about par for the course to me. I consider it normal to preorder games and expansions I want on release day.I get it. You want the product now and can't get it. It sucks but it's not the end of the world. Have a little patience. I mean really, what difference does getting the game in January rather than December mean in the grand scheme of things.
What do you know about designing a product and bringing it to the market place? I've worked in quality assurance for over 20 years and been a part of numerous product development teams in that time. I've never seem a launch go perfect. One of the standard matrices for measuring quality is on time delivery. I've worked with companies with a 70% on time delivery (very, very bad) to 97% which isn't bad but certainly unacceptable and hardly what the customers in the 3% signed up for. One thing I've never worked for is a company with 100% on time delivery, although we have scored that some months and multiple months in a row for some customers. We keep track of our overall performance and our performance by customer.
I can promise you that I've never worked for a company that wanted anything other than a 100% on time delivery rating. I'm sure that FFG wishes you had all the Destiny you want right now just as bad as you do. It didn't happen. Deal with it and don't let it spoil your enjoyment of the game once you do get it.

Gamesontables reacted to Stu35 in Jango/Veers/Trooper
As far as I can tell, the ejango/eveers combo is so good because you've got 4 dice with a lot of ranged damage, which you can get on the board with 2 actions - or essentially 1 action if Jango activates his ability.
Essentially you can roll veers, wait for your opponent to roll up, activate Jangos ability, then resolve your damage before your opponent has a chance to control your dice. Very powerful.
With 3 dice spread over 3 characters you lose a lot of that efficiency and ability to get damage out fast. Give your opponent more opportunity to control your dice etc.
I'm by no means an expert on this game, but I still think that a veers/jango/trooper deck can be good - just have to play it a bit slower, maybe look at a bit more damage mitigation over raw dice power (get the card which grants bodyguard in the deck maybe? Give that to the stormtrooper to force your opponent to split fire).
That's my 2p anyway.

Gamesontables reacted to dbmeboy in Any FFG rep able to help?
I would note that if you bought the complete play set from another player and not as sealed product, I would not expect FFG to replace the missing cards. They may still do so, because they're generally awesome about such things, but they certainly have no obligation to replace cards that were likely not missing in the original packaging.

Gamesontables reacted to dpb1298 in The Emerging Meta
So by the time of Q1 tournaments what do y'all think the current meta will be? Thus far I've seen a lot of eRey-eQGJ, eJango-eVeers, Rey-Padme-Ackbar, and Phasma with FO Storm Troopers.

Gamesontables got a reaction from Thrindal in does anyone have a pic of a misprinted die?
It seems like FFG is the first to do this die manufacturing process and their partner isn't all that great at quality control just yet. I strongly suspect we will see these manufacturing issues sort themselves out pretty quickly as players report issues to FFG.

Gamesontables reacted to LordFajubi in Millenium falcon Die values different to card
Usually "pro" gamers like that buy secondary market cards exclusively for their decks. I've heard several gamers of that quality call boosters everything from lotto tickets to a waste of money. Dice misprints hurt casuals way more than pros. -
Gamesontables got a reaction from Ajones47 in The Ball has been Dropped
Has there been an FFG launch when the initial print run was enough to meet demand? Every LCG has had these same issues with the initial core release.

Gamesontables got a reaction from steves71 in Finn ability
This is precisely why I'm baffled by the reviewers saying, "This game is overly simplistic."
So is Chess by that same definition....The rules of moving the chess pieces around is easy. The interactions are the tricky part.
Destiny is the same. The gameplay mechanics are easy, the variety of card interactions and deck building principles are not.
