  1. to dip in Bronze? Word is he had to borrow one to complete his Dengaroo list he won with. Could be speculation. I'm from his team and know him very well! It is very true that he only owns one Jumpmaster
  2. So for a while I've been playing with the idea for a new astromech in my head. The astromech that can fly a ship! The idea is that, on non-unique pilot ships, this droid would function as the pilot, thus freeing the pilot's seat up for a crew slot! This could bring even more combo's to rebel ships! I also thought it could have a built in Veteran Instincts, for the lowest PS ships. I guess it would best be a Unique droid, and cost at least 4 points. I don't think it would break the game, since it's not super invasive and it would cost quite a bit for a generic ship. It might however bring some love back to the ignored generic E-wing and X-wings. What do you guys think? Broken, lame or cool?
  3. I don't think you could make anything official. There are a lot of trademarks on the names of pilots and ships. The mechanics are probably also protected. The DnD <> Pathfinder thing doesnt apply here as those game rules were open source. Even if you would change all the names, you would still face lawsuits I think. Especially if you sell or kickstart it. On those mobile firing arcs (MFA)... Those were created for a reason. As a counter to the arc-dodging aces. If you play with MFA, you'll once again give the likes of Soontir Fel free range to take easy shots with modifiers on you. If you somehow get lucky and move after them, you'll waste an action on moving your arc and will only fire unmodified shots back at him. PWT ships usually have limitations built-in: Low agility, less mobility, higher point cost. I agree that a MFA adds a lot more strategy and tactics to the game, but I would hate to see it replace the PWT, as they have their own advantages and disadvantages. More options is always better. Then again, if your version has an improved HWK-290 in it, i'll throw money at it no matter what
  4. To add more fuel to this discussion... imagine this scenario... Shara has R5-K6. She herself uses the TL, rolls an evade an gets another TL that she cannot use again that round. Now a pilot with a lower/same skill attacks, can he use the second TL? R5-K6 specifies that YOU cannot use it that round, meaning Shara, but does that also exclude other pilots? As I read it, the second pilot can use the TL. Thoughts?
  5. It looks a bit like a TIE hunter minus 2 wings or a Phantom with one less wing and a normal TIE cockpit. Could be their version of the HWK-290? The HWK-290 is perfect as it is and doesn't need other versions, young man! *sulk* My 2 cents: Both loook cool! (even though the TIE is indeed just another TIE, but there are many good reasons for that) The U-Boat looks to be some kind of dropship/torpedo platform ship. Like those clone transports in the Clone Wars. (not in the OT movies, since the only time they did a trooplanding was with an enemy shuttle) So Large base ship, 2 ATT/2 DEF/4HULL/4SHLD 2 crew, 2 torp and a missile, Maybe a Sys.Upgrade but that seems a bit OP. Focus/TL/SLAM or Boost No K-Turns, maybe Talon-Roll, green straights 1-4, all the banks and 2-3 turns 2-turns red? Talon Roll on a Large ship seems cool, but hard though, since the barrel-roll tweaking at the end is HUGE on a large ship. The TIE striker is probably an air-superiority specialist. (strange that they went with "solar panels" as i though huge panels on TIEs were heat-sinks) (Not in the OT movies, since there are no major air-battles) Small ship, 2ATT/3DEF/3HULL/0SHLD. 1 crew, Sys Upgrade, FOCUS/EVADE/BOOST/TL. A dial similar to interceptor.
  6. The U-Wing seems indeed like some sort of transport/dropship or /missile/torpedo platform. Much like those transports from the Clone Wars (which had versions that could go in space, as seen in the series) The fluff text (although it seems very untrustworthy) seems to suggest it has some kind of swing-wings. (S-Foils are mentioned). With wings spread out for more stability? or tucked in to reduce space during drop-offs? I guess in the movies it could be used as a sort of dropship for our commando's. Looks like a large base ship to me. A more agile version of the Lambda, with torpedoes instead of a cannon. The Tie-Striker seems a bit redundant. I guess they need the 'new' ships to up the ante on the merch. Maybe indeed as a sort of limited edition thing, for those special forces. The "why weren't they in the OT movies" answer is going to be that these were mostly atmosphere-based ships and their roles weren't used in the films. IE: the rebels didnt drop off troops on the ground and those special forces were probably on another mission... The TIE design, is indeed a bit milked out. At some point they will run out of these synonyms of fighter to put behind "TIE"... Much like the rebels will run out of letters... The imperials are indeed in dire need of some Assault Gunboat... Although Ralph Mcquarrie is (was ) as space-ship GOD! And It makes sense that military ships keep within a similar design-space. (Although the rebels don't design, but rather get what they are given?) As Sci-Fi fans we are dying for some NEW stuff. Real new! Not sleeker designs of what we already have or tributes to God-Designers! That was one of the GOOD things about the prequels. The Naboo fighter, the DROID-fighters, names of ships that WEREN'T letters or tie's. We want more brand NEW!
  7. 100% agreed. Honestly, though, having played "Gonk" on Kath for a while, the times when you want to use both actions are pretty rare. Oh, I'm sorry, did I say "both actions"? Cheeky!
  8. I'm #teamtwoactionsnotone or #GonkGonk The rules state that actions are either icons on the action bar or text that start with a "ACTION" header. On the Gonk card there is TWO times a text with an "ACTION" header. So TWO different actions. So using IE, you can both bank and reload a shield. It will cost you two actions, a stress, 5 points and two upgrade slots to do it, but you CAN do it! imho! Also, A mail copied to a facebook page and then copied into forums is nothing official. When this thing hits an official FAQ I will (be sad and) use it as stated in that FAQ. This is indeed Wave 8 and by now the wording on upgrade cards should already be near perfect and not as debatable as this. Don't they know the KISS principle: Keep It Simple, Stupid. To not overcomplicate things? If they indeed intended the Gonk actions to be one action, then why did they not word them as all the other cards with multiple one-action options. Why didn't they add "this card can only be used ONCE PER TURN" as previous upgrades have stated or why didnt they use ONE action header with "OR" to stipulate the different options you need to choose between, or "face this card down after until the end phase after using one of the actions" To me, a new kind of card design also introduces a new kind of use for it, and it shouldnt be yet another way of wording something that has been worded differently in the past. I really hope they stick with their own rules and overrule that mail and say that Gonk has 2 different actions that can be used in a single turn, if you use IE. Gonk. Gonk.
  9. That's a loooooooot of money right off the bat. Ebay's also going to give you terrible prices. What sort of tournaments are you planning on going to? And if you're not, you don't need redundant copies of every card. I didn't say right of the bat. I plan on buying 2-3 expansions a month. I also won't be buying the expansions off eBay, was just talking about individual cards. Haven't seen another place in the UK to buy individual cards, but maybe there is. That being said, my family lives in the US and it might make sense for them to buy cards/expansions there and mail them to me. They are light in general, so it's probably worth it. Haven't really looked into it. Well this is kind of why I want to buy everything, so I can use my creativity to put any squadron I want together. No need to challenge my creativity when I don't have to. Getting the whole 9 yards is a very nice goal, but that would leave you with one ship of each (except offcourse the tie-fighter and x-wing plus the aces and most wanted sets) which DOES constrict your squad options a bit. The really good squads often contain the same ships. It really depends on your own style and likings. My style is doing whatever pops into my mind. I like to learn by self-discovery and not by copying anyone else's discoveries. I actually do my best to avoid learning about "proven" strategies. Someone had to try those strategies before they knew they were good. i.e. There are likely plenty of strategies that are just as good (or better) that simply haven't been discovered yet. That's my view anyway. May take longer, and result in a lot more losses, but it's more fun to be personally. Each person is different in this regard though as you say. If it is the fun and casual flying you are after, then getting it all once might work out just fine for you! Though for your very first purchase, pick a faction and buy a few of those, so you can at least build one varied 100pt. squad. Then after you can just buy all the rest and increase the fun I also like to make my own squads and experiment with various combinations, it's more fun than those built-to-win meta's
  10. I want the Wilde Kardde! With a nice Headhunter model and a Mara Jade Pilot Card But we are already expecting a veterans set, so it will be between 9 and 10 perhaps, probably after 10. Scum Falcon and Scum YT-2400 ! Yes!

That way you can start playing first and build up the collection later. A very good site for doing this: http://xwing-builder.co.uk/ It is updated often, it has an option to save your purchases and it shows you the sets that each upgrade comes in. If you're not gonna play epic, you can also put them on display. They are of high quality finish, like most of the models! I would also recommend to buy an extra expansion to aquire a specific upgrade rather than looking on e-bay as those are often way over-priced. The only ones really worth a look on e-bay are those that only come in the epic ship expansions (c-3PO, the TIE Advanced upgrades,...). Also don't forget to accessorize A good map with a nice print and maybe a Line Laser Pointer will come in really handy once you start playing. To return to the original question: Good to have upgrades are: Veteran Instincts: Autothrusters, Push The Limit, Twin Laser Turret, Engine Upgrade, Crackshot, Predator,... Anywho, Welcome to the community
  12. 4 Tie advanced's with ATC focussing on Biggs could also be an issue as he will have to soak up at least 4 crits every turn... and once he is gone they will rip apart the ghost, even with kanan's ability.
  13. I too have that list somewhere in my squad-builder but havent played it yet, mostly because I dont have a Ghost at this moment Will be fun to keep the YT-2400 in play though, because i really love that ship!
  14. Maybe one day, if the rebels too get a ship with both an astromech slot en crew slot, my regenerator idea will come to live again! Now that Scum has such a ship, the chance of the rebels one day getting one just went up, so here's hoping! Maybe in the same wave as that damned Assault Gunboat everyone keeps hoping for
  15. Ah, bummer, I thought the "you" was just "me" it would have been nice if that worked though. Thanks for the correction! That is a very nice alternative! Thanks
