    Dark Sun

For those who have run this using Genesys, are you encouraging your to use the concept of the character tree that was put forth in the original 2nd Ed. days?

    Dark Sun

I agree with this. Usually in any RPG I like to go for the simpler solution. But that Force die has a lot of potential for its use.

Is there a penalty for characters who defile or a bonus for characters to preserve? As a GM I'd be fine with them being narrative only, but I'm not sure a party containing a preserver and a defiler would see it the same way. Although, what if the defiler or preserver who chooses to defile casts a spell in an are where there is little or no life other than the party? Perhaps the in situations like that the strain paid by the caster could be applied to all living things within a certain distance?

    Dark Sun

As an old-school D&D player who bought every Dark Sun product when they came out, I am all over this. I agree with you on the use of the Force die having potential for use in the magic system. It seems that the black-white pip layout would work with the Defiler-Preserver dichotomy. But like you, I'm not sure what exactly the best way to implement it would be. Regardless, I'm thinking of starting a Dark Sun campaign now.
  5. One thing I'm really thankful for is the fact that the blueprints for every vehicle Hasbro produced are online. And when I say "blueprints" I mean the ones that came in the box that had like 5-20 features pointed out. Like this:
  6. Have you figured out how you're going to differentiate Crimson Guard from the base Cobra soldier? One of the ideas I'm kicking around is a storyline where the PCs are tracking down Tomax and Xamot who have gotten themselves embroiled in Miami's drug trade of the 80's. If I go with that, the Crimson Guard will likely play heavily into the storyline.
  7. I really dig the animal archetypes. That's really a cool idea.
  8. I'll be taking a look at this later. As a fan coming from the 80's cartoons, then later the Marvel comics, how would you handle some of the more over the top ninja-based stunts? Something like Snake Eyes pulling off a 15' vertical jump, or Storm Shadow throwing a shuriken down the barrel of a gun? I was toying around with ways to utilize the Force Die from the Star Wars rpg, but hadn't come up with anything I thought really worked. I guarantee that at least one of my players is going to insist on being a ninja. With the game set in the 80's when a ninja was still essentially a superhero, I'm going to need to come up with a way to handle this type of stuff.
  9. Will there be an Aes Sedai-only talent called "Braid Pulling"? I didn't see it in a quick glance, but I might have missed it. Having read through the books not too long ago, I remember very often that one of the defining actions of an Aes Sedai is that when exasperated she pulls on her hair braid.

    G.I. Joe

I figured that. Consider me waiting with bated breath.

    G.I. Joe

I'd love to get better copies of these. I can't really read these on any device I've tried.

    G.I. Joe

This idea appeals to me, but I'd probably drop the Aliens/Predator portion unless I went long-term with the campaign. If I did go long-term, I'd try to work in all kinds of 80's IP in addition to Aliens/Predator. A session where the Joes have to work in conjunction with the NYPD to stop COBRA and wind up working with a cop named John McClaine. A session where the Pentagon hands over control of G.I. Joe over to a private corporation named Omni Consumer Products. A session where the Joes are tasked with running a protection operation for philanthropist Matt Trakker. Heck, maybe a session where COBRA has taken over and occupied a small town in Colorado named Calumet. And there's a good chance that there would be sessions where the Joes have to work in conjunction with WWF wrestlers to fight COBRA. I'd also require all of my players to go online to one of the File Card generators and make their own for their character.
  13. I'm looking through my new (to me) Genesys book, and I don't see any mention of harpoints on weapons, armor, or vehicles, nor do I see any mention of attahcments. Am I missing it or am I going to have to port it over from the Star Wars system (not that it would be that hard)?
