  4. I find the fun in games is the competitive aspect. I like pushing myself to the best of my abilities, and just as importantly I like the same from my opponent. I have no problem with people who enjoy the game casually, but for me the most fun I have is in high level games. As a result, my lists tend to lean more towards "meta cheese," because beating someone, or losing to someone, because a less optimized list gets exploited, hinders my enjoyment of the game. As for discussions around the competitive environment, of course they discuss efficiency and winning, because they're geared towards people who enjoy that aspect of the game.

  6. We've got a pretty active community, MoKAN X-wing is the facebook page for the greater KC area and should have pretty much all the info you're looking for. The closest store with weekly x-wing is probably the Geekery off of shawnee mission, they meet on mondays. Welcome to the game!

  8. We split 2 boxes actually, we mixed it all together though so who knows if the hans were from same or different boxes
  9. I can't wait for all the net-deckers to try and figure out Echo Easy pickens incoming! Congratulations goes to this list! Wish I could have seen how well he flew Echo, hands down must have been amazing seeing all the VI Rey and PS9 aces in the field. I faced the 2nd place list and felt lucky enough to get one of them to half with my Palp/Carnor/Maarek. Anti-pursuit lasers never triggered in my game either. Doug Howe is a Kansas City guy I play and dojo with regularly. You will likely not find a better Echo pilot out there anywhere. He beat my Dash+Norra list in the semi-finals (which contrary to the list juggler score, was 100-60, rather than 100-0). I knew going into that tournament that if we played, he would beat me. Flying against Echo with my list relies on the opponent making a mistake, allowing me to capitalize on it to kill Echo. Doug, quite simply, does not make mistakes when flying that ship. Bringing Echo (or any Phantom, really) or a Decimator to a competitive event, despite being two of my favorite ships to fly, gives me anxiety. I placed top 16 in the MA regionals w/ Whisper in a list, and found that she really hates TLTs (first match was a blisteringly close Thug Life match up, and I ran into two more TLT heavy lists, despite it being in the era of the JumpMaster). Now, with TLTs having less overt predators, and there being new-shiny high PS pilots... Man, this guy must really be able to fly. I have so many questions as to how they handle certain match-ups. I'm guessing you mean match-ups that are bad for Echo? The answer for that is to fly with no fear. Screen with RAC and force them to take worse shots at the phantom if they want. And if they do, accept that Echo will probably die, just get enough damage in for RAC to clean up (Also Evade every turn, between it and Kallus, you dodge 2-3 more often than not.)
  10. Thanks man! I actually never fought Rey (Or Poe to my great displeasure), so i got a little lucky in that aspect. I did face a Fenn, and a Dengar, and that's where Hot Shot really paid off on chirpy! its actually pretty hard to hit a phantom that has Kallus and evade, when you can never focus on offense =D
  11. The problem with this is you're still losing a LOT of flexability. Pre-nerf, you wanted to be range 3 but if you ended up range 1, you still fire a 3die primary and you can still shoot torpedos later. Now, if you find yourself at range 3 in the opening engage, you're firing unmodified torpedos, or a whimpy 2 die primary. As others have said you telegraph your game plan in a VERY obvious way. Jmp5ks arent going away, but they also cant be built in the same way they were.
  12. echo won. scum had such a strong start too. Any idea what the lists were? I heard rumor of no VI on Echo. I was running echo. Lists were Imperial- Echo- VI, ACD, FCS, Kallus Inquisiter- Ptl, Autothrusters, Title Omicron- Palpy 99 pts Scum- Zuckuss- VI, FCS, Title, Tractor Tel Trevara- Deadeye, R4, Proton torps, Extra munitions, Guidence, Boba Palob- TLT, 4lom, Crack Shot4 He stripped Vi from echo with boba after a Crit, which is probably where you heard the rumor
  13. I hate to break it to you, but the post literally 10 minutes before yours was an april fools post
  14. Great write up! I was running the tie swarm, You had a heck of a list! Very well played both games
