  1. Hey again, I think this list fits my earlier desire for a little of everything. I wish I could do more with the corvettes to make them less basic, but from what I've read it's important to have a bid when using raddus Name: Untitled Fleet Faction: Rebel Commander: Admiral Raddus Assault: Defense: Navigation: MC75 Ordnance Cruiser (100) • Ordnance Experts (4) • External Racks (3) • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) = 112 Points MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Admiral Raddus (26) • Lando Carissian (4) • External Racks (3) • H9 Turbolasers (8) • Admonition (8) = 112 Points GR-75 Medium Transports (18) • Comms Net (2) = 20 Points CR90 Corvette A (44) = 44 Points CR90 Corvette A (44) = 44 Points Squadrons: • Jan Ors (19) • 3 x X-wing Squadron (39) = 58 Points Total Points: 390
  2. Ok, I'm going to re read that article. But something I see everywhere is "admonition is better than foresight, if you know when to use it" but something I never see is "when to use admonition abilities" if i switch the MC75 to the ordinance and use it more for beating thingns, will I be hurting myself in the squadron area?
  3. So I've been playing for a few months now, but I think we've only played 7 or so games. So my big issue right now I think is I'm trying to do too many things. I like having a big ship in my list to act as the cornerstone/flag ship, I like having a fleet of smaller ships to give activations but also they look nice and cenimatic. And I like having a big squadron presence. I think I need a little help, or a slap in the face reality check that I just can't do what I want. This list went ok, I lost the squadron fight horribly, he had as many squadrons but most of them were some pretty good aces that supported each other very well. And it's possibly that I only lost when the MC75 flew off the map, but his ISD was also out of a lot of the fighting chasing down dodondas pride (we did Most wanted) Can I get any help? I don't even care if it's a whole new list, I'm only missing the liberty and hammer heads. Name: Untitled Fleet Faction: Rebel Commander: General Dodonna Assault: Defense: Navigation: MC75 Armored Cruiser (104) • General Dodonna (20) • Weapons Liaison (3) • Expanded Hangar Bay (5) • Electronic Countermeasures (7) = 139 Points MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • Ordnance Experts (4) • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) = 72 Points CR90 Corvette A (44) • Ray Antilles (7) • Turbolaser Reroute Circuits (7) • Tantive IV (3) = 61 Points CR90 Corvette B (39) • Dodonna's Pride (6) = 45 Points Squadrons: • 2 x A-wing Squadron (22) • 2 x B-wing Squadron (28) • 2 x X-wing Squadron (26) = 76 Points Total Points: 393
  4. Thanks guys. New question, how do I post photos here. Also, kind of on the edge of off topic but not really, will we ever see things like K wings and U wings?
  5. Hello everyone, new player, started about a month ago now. I'd like to start by saying how much fun these little guys are. My mind is going over so many possibilities. So I need some help deciding. Currently I own the starter set and the rebels 1 squadrons, but I'll probably end up getting more. So my decision is between painting the entire fleet of X wings one color, y wings another, etc. OR, should I paint each squadron a new color? I'm sort of leaning somewhere in the middle, two red squadrons, two blue squadrons, two green squadrons, two crimson squadrons, two yellow, two gold. this brings me a new question, what's some color combos for them? Or should I open a bag of skittles? I like to think my painting skills can do a decent job at whatever I try to do, but that seems to come at the cost of imagination for coming up with what to do. Any help would be great
  6. My reasoning for the MC 75 not being the ordinance is that I picked the wrong one lol. Thanks for the catch. I'm not sure if I understand you on the MC30 though, are you saying to drop the external racks for assault proton torpedos? I don't seem to be able to take both. Thanks for your help!
  7. Hello everyone. I just started playing a few weeks ago and I'm looking for a little advice with my fleet. Until now I've just been using what few ships I have, but yesterday I picked up a few more ships so now I've got a lot of options. my goal when building this fleet was to have a larger number of ships, with less upgrades per ship. Name: Dodonna's armory Faction: Rebel Commander: General Dodonna Assault: Defense: Navigation: MC75 Armored Cruiser (104) • General Dodonna (20) • Ordnance Experts (4) • Early Warning System (7) • Assault Proton Torpedoes (5) • Profundity (7) = 147 Points MC30c Torpedo Frigate (63) • External Racks (3) • Foresight (8) = 74 Points CR90 Corvette B (39) • Dodonna's Pride (6) = 45 Points CR90 Corvette B (39) • Overload Pulse (8) = 47 Points Hammerhead Torpedo Corvette (36) • Garel's Honor (4) = 40 Points Squadrons: • Rogue Squadron (14) • 2 x A-wing Squadron (22) • Z-95 Headhunter Squadron (7) = 43 Points Total Points: 396 so is this something that could work or am I way off here?
  8. I hate it when people quit because they had a bad start or don't feel like they can keep up anymore. Maybe if it was in a league for score I wouldn't care as much but I wanna see it through to the end game. I feel like them quitting early prevents me from getting valuable late game experience (and I can easily make m own mistakes causing me to be the one trailing behind) This hasn't happened in xwing though. I'm usually the one loosing. But I don't give up. There has been times where I felt obligated to play another game even after I'm done and ready to go home. That usually sucks. But I guess I'm getting my money's worth.
  9. Some people have little superstitious beliefs. Back as a kid, I developed this habit from a friend, and now from time to time, when I really need a good roll, I will roll extra dice (sometimes a handful if possible) prior to making my actual roll. This roll is not ment to be part of the game, but is a method I use to pick which dice I will roll to determine results (we reasoned that the dice that just came up as ones, would be now become 4-6. Can you penalize me for this roll, nope. It was not the roll that is being made to determine results. You know this because it's not the legal number of dice I'm required to roll. The only thing I can be penalize or is delay of game. Or cheating if I tried to use them as an actual result.
  10. Nids do indeed "build" while harvesting a planet. While the harvest is being conducted, large spires build up into the upper atmosphere to transport biomass to the awaiting ships. These are then themselves consumed as the harvest is finished. Despite what some of the novels would lead you to believe. The defeat of an army does not mean the instant death of the world. The conquering nids could still require time to finish the consumption of all wildlife, or defeating local forces not represented by the main game. I could explain how I would attempt it, but I think nids could easily be implimented with little to no changes to game play, or could go the other route and introduce a unique race which plays entierly different from the others. Necrons could also be given a unique set of mechanics. It would make sense that tau show up late to the party, they are quite slow when it comes to space travel. Dark eldar would imo be too similar to eldar, but to be fair I know little about them Either way, I really want to see some more to this game.
  11. I love the clone wars part of those movies, but much of the movie suffered from other parts (god damned gungans) I would welcome the ships from the clone wars, the problem would be factions. First, all the clones ships have a very rebel alliance feel to them. First they are brightly painted, second they don't have the traditional tie fins things. I think the animated series even has Troopers flying What appears to be Y wings. The problem is, five years later these guys are the storm troopers. The sepritist ships (droids for anyone who hates I II and III too much to remember) are the forces being controlled by the dark side, but that doesn't really make them buddy buddy with the empire. The empire was litterally created the day they where defeated. So it doesn't really work. They also can't ally with the rebels, cause they still hate everything. TFA doesn't really need the retitleing of the factions. You add some tie/fo's to your force, easy plot device is that your using some new stuff with some of the older. But how the hell do you tie in those other ships... Idk. Is still play em though. Good point on wedge findin obi's ship, that makes it usable in the current setting. They likely woult because there got all kinds of new ships to do now. Also if they make it in the current setting it will clash with any attempt to create it in the clone wars era should they ever go back.

    Death Star Trench

What were te rules for getting into and out of the trench? Also do you now have rules for the turrets? Tell me you've since played with the turrets (then show pictures)
  13. How do you guys use Miranda's ability?
  14. I only have the one, I ran it a few different times with some different load outs. I was trying to avoid putting to many points into it. I put extra munitions on it everytime. One game I tried two Conner nets, totaling to four. Sadly, each time I landed a hit with the weapon, my opponent had planed I preform a red move anyway so the bonus of ion tokens and loss of action were null. The base attack on the K wing is underwhelming at anything other than range two, I might just go ahead and pay the 6 points for the TLT so that he can actually apply damage. I tried out the ion bombs, to which my opponent suggested that I use cluster mines as the ion bombs are not too good. This is slightly problomatic as I do not wish to purchase imperial. One time I tried photon torpedoes and cluster missiles, this was again a bad choice as both fit the same role. One time I did use two Y's with the TLT, that worked out nicely. My opponent insisted he didn't recive a defensive role against the weapon, so my effectiveness was over exaggerated. (We cleared it up after the fact). So one thing to do might be buy up two K wings just to run four Y's with TLT.
  15. I was thinking I would pick up a second K wing, and use one as a bomber and the other as a missile/torpedo platform. I was very successful at managing to keep out of harms way with the ship last night, so I thought maybe some more effective load outs would allow me to output better damage.
