Another Character Generator

Probably extremely low on the priority list as there is absolutely 0 game effect and you can put it in the description area of the character anyhow, just like clothing or vehicle colors -

You are unable to view or purchase Force Powers with a Force Rating higher than your current Force Rating. I believe that Force Protection has a Force Rating requirement of 2+. -

by setting it to 5, you put the mandatory obligation to 5. This then limits you to only getting credit for another 5 obligation. Per the EotE CRB, the mandatory obligation for a 5 PC group is 10. This means you are required to take 10 points worth and do not get credit for them. You can take up to another 10 for the option points. EDIT: Upon rereading your previous post, I may have his understood that instead of having 5 players, you have enough to make your mandatory obligation 5. You can only ever take double your group size's mandatory obligation and get points for them. You can take more but, will not get the points. So in your case, if your party base obligation is 5 per player, then you can spend another 5 to get points and can choose either of the 5 point options. If the GM is letting you take more to get a 10 point option, then you need to go to the top sheet of the character and 'gift' yourself the rest of the 10 point option directly into cash or XP. In either case the generator is working as designed -
it is not that I cannot think of things to add, it is that I usually forget to add them as I run short sessions (3 hours) due to the FLGS that we play at hours

a rule of thumb I use at my table, is that those talents add 1 boost for every 2 ranks (rounded up) if I fail to give at least 1 setback to a roll. This helps me remember to add them.

"got a slight problem. I took 15 points of obligation, but it's not letting me take the bonus skill points. I've tried clearing the cache but it didn't help. Is it just me or a glitch." What did you select at your base level of obligations? There is a minimum amount that you MUST take and do not get any bonus points for. Make sure you are buying Obligations from the proper place -

If you have the armor equipped, it drops to 0 or 1. Make sure that the armor is not equipped. -
There is no upgrade, as you are not attempting to use both weapons AT THE SAME TIME, you are only useing 1 weapon a round, presumably the one which is of most immediate utility. So if you have a vibroknife and a Blaster Pistol equipped, AND YOU ARE ONLY USING the blaster pistol, you would just roll range light, If the next round, someone engages you and you want to stab them, you would just roll Melee to hit them. In either case no difficulty increase is needed. It should also be pointed out that if you did want to use the blaster AND the knife in the same attack, you would be rolling a base 2 difficulty dice in any case (1 for the blaster + 1 for using it at an engaged target vs. difficulty 2 for base for melee) + 1 for 2 weapon fighting.

There is a difference between wielding 2 different weapon types and actually using them. Especially, if you do not have quickdraw talent. I see plenty of times a PC has a pistol and sword, but they actually only use either the pistol or the sword at any given time. It just saves them from having to continuously draw and holster a weapon.

basically. However, you can only activate traits that do not depend on hits, off the primary weapon (whichever you choose). So you either, if you want to activate autofire, you need to declare that as your primary.

Wars do not make one great -
The rules in EV are not meant as a replacement to the ones in the GM Screen. They provide 2 ways to go about the same thing. The EV ones really shine if you have dropped 3+ levels into Mechanics and have a 3+ Int. If your character is less mechanically inclined, then the GM screen ones work much better

Gain the Advantage - How does it work ?
JalekZem replied to Rosco74's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Once you are successful and your opponent fails on their roll, you upgrade your gunnery roll. So if normally, you are gunnery YGG and you are benefiting from Gain the Advantage you are now YYG -

Cybertron -
Also, smart players (those that use Underworld or Streetwise) to find information out about the buyer could conceivably find out this fact. This could prepare them better for the negotiation (well since you sold them originally, you know the high quality of the arms). Also, it might be worth it to find other ways, besides murder hoboing, for you players to make some cash.

Read through the skill descriptions. Many of them have suggestions for both triumphs and dispares

All of these have a Force Requirement of 2+, so if your character only has 1 Force Point, then they will not see them, as they cannot purchase them. If you give the character another Force Point, then they should be there. You need to have a Force Rating of 2 or more for Protect/ Unleash -
You are overcomplicating this. When you select a Gnak you get to choose 1 or 2 pieces of cyberware with a combined value of 5000 credits. This is NOT an additional purchase phase, any more then a Tei'lek having to choose a rank of Charm or Deception is a "Skill purchase phase". You make the selections and move on.

Help me understanding how Force works
JalekZem replied to arunwe2012's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Yeah, but holding up Dork Empire as an example for anything (well, other than "This is how you write a bad comic") is a terrible idea. #thankgodforthecannonpurge Also, as I recall, that was only after he reflected the AT-AT's blaster bolts back at it. Then he simply used TK (or move) to just knock it over. Also, as it currently stands in game, a PC with enough points sunk into Move (to get the required Silhouette upgrades in Move) and enough of a Force pool to move activate all the upgrades can do that anyhow. -
Pesonally, I would say you get the base 5K plus what ever other monies you want to throw into it from your starting 500-1750 (assuming normal starting). I wouldn't let any character with Master Merchant use that to buy new gear pregame. For the Gank, the ability to start with cybernetics is a racial trait and meant to be on par with a free level in 1 skill or gain a boost die/ ignore a setback die talents that most of the races have. It is not meant to be let's make Locutus of Borg as a starting character. Also, in a normal game, the characters are supposed to be somewhat down and out as their impetus for adventuring. If you allow a character with Master Merchant (If they manage to take it), or similar talents to use it pre-game, then why would the be adventuring, they already have a stable business? Also, the main cost to the talent (spending 2 strain) is a non-cost if done during character generation, as I would assume that you want the shiny new cyberware installed already and not have to spend the better part of the first session trying to find a saw bones to install it in you, and then rush off to "Save the Galaxy". In, my opinion, it also robs you and your character at several story arcs that could develop the character. For example, a Heavy may want to have a VX Sidewinder Repeating Blaster. Which is a reasonable goal, but if you beg the GM to give it to you out of the gate and they acquiesce to you, where does the character go from there? Yeah they get to have fun laying waste for the first couple (or many) sessions, but are the other PCs going to be able to contribute much to the combats? What is that PC going to aspire to have? It would be a bit like having a level 1 character start out with a +5 Holy Avenger. Remember, that the reason in any RPG to give the PCs limited resources at the start, is to give them a reason to adventure. If you can start with anything and everything, that you want, then why take up the adventurer's mantle at all.

Also, remember that against minions or Rivals, that do not have a stun track, Stun damage is as good as lethal. As for making them not as lethal, start combats at long range and shoot the hell out of the jedi....

JalekZem replied to arunwe2012's topic in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG
Why not? It might not be RAW or even RAI, but doesn't look OP to me. Until players start throwing Sil 4 and 5 ships into ISDs..... or dropping fighters onto ground targets as Inertial Penetraters.... -
There are also several apps that convert photos into PDFs

Didn't she have white sabers in Clone Wars series just before her exeunt story arc?
