Local invitational tournament. Last time I placed 9th in this tourney and ended up getting into the top 8 eliminations due to a drop. I took the following list today:

    Rey (2)
    Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
    Alliance Overhaul (0)

    Adaptability (0)
    Twin Laser Turret (6)
    Nien Nunb (1)
    Wedge Antilles (29)
    Expertise (4)

I was hoping to go 2-2 and just have a really good fun time and hopefully at least have close games for my losses.

Game 1 vs 3 Crimson Bombers.
I was terrified of this. Stacks of cluster mines, one has trajectory and bomblet. This was not going to be a good time. I flew against this using Rey/Poe once and got dumpstered hard. I expected similar losses this time. He spread out on the center line while I moved up my right board edge as fast as possible. I turned in about 2/3 of the way up the board and took shields off his bomblet guy. I then turned hard back towards the board edge with the squad to avoid the trajectory bomb. Surprisingly enough he turned away with his bomblet guy and started moving laterally across the board. I curved around his 2-2 rock on my right edge. Wedge and Norra took one of his cluster mine bombers down to 2 health. Wedge took one mine the next turn and then let Jan and Norra finish off the bomber. His other miner got slapped by Wedge and turned back. I came in fast into the side of the bomblet bomber and lit it up with the whole squad, it died. I then was able to go after the final cluster mine one without too much trouble. Wedge lost 2 shields.
    100 - 0 Win

Game 2 vs Yorr, Quickdraw, Omega Leader
One of the better players in town, who I have yet to beat. He loves his imps, and this is a proven list for him. I was expecting to get annihilated, but I knew I had a chance if I could kill Quickdraw, even if I had to loose Wedge. He setup on my board right in the corner. I decided to setup across from him. He kinda pooped his pants a bit. I moved in hard and fast. He moved laterally towards the left edge running away. I turned in slightly to give me two angles of attack down the side or the middle depending on what he decided to do. He moved Yorr to the mid and QD slooped on the side. OL way out of engagement at this point. Luckily Norra was able to flight assist a boost into QD's side, Wedge and Jan faced him down. QD's initial strike into Wedge was shrugged off for no damage. Wedge fired back and took down 3 shields and a hull. QD fired back at wedge and stripped shields and gave him a direct hit which I burned with IA. Jan Ors TLT'd QD to death and Norra banked her focus. OL did some dancing and kept evading with a ton of natty rolls. Finally in the final engagement I got all three ships firing on OL again and nuked her into oblivion.
    100 - 0 Win

    Game 3 vs Rac Inquisitor
I'm feeling pretty good going into the next game after my two unbelievable first games. I knew this game would ruin my perfect MOV however... My plan was to feast on whatever he presented me first. He setup each ship in a different corner. So I setup across from Inquisitor. He turned hard and started moving Rac down the board edge boosting for speed. I got a shield off on inquisitor before I moved quickly to get Rac down. He boosted instead of kyloing due to range which opened me up to get at R1 with Norra and Wedge. I cut him down to 8 hull that round while Jan took pot shots at Inquisitor. He boosted away with Rac and I couldn't nail him down with my squad. Norra didn't escape and got shot down while Wedge and Jan moved away from Inquisitor. He turned away with Inquisitor as he thought I was setting a trap for him, nope, set a trap for Rac and he placed him R1 of Wedge with Jan not far behind. 3 hull left. He forced me to burn Integrated with a PS0 crit. I finished off Rac next round. Now it's a 2 hull Wedge and full Jan vs Inquisitor. I got this.... Nope, 4 rounds of trying to break through Inquisitor. Even when he was just at range 3, tokenless against Wedge... I fired and BLANKED, rolled TL into 2 focus blank blank. He rolled natty evades, revenge shot took Wedge down. It came down to Jan vs Inqisitor with 2 hull. I needed the perfect attack with Jan to do it... nope natty evades from Inquisitor, and he took Jan down.
    0 - 63 loss

    Game 4 vs OL/ QD/ Ryad
Decent player with defenders. Ryad is his lady, and Ryad is one ship that gives me a lot of trouble for some reason. Of course OL just makes me mad... So he spreads out his setup a bit, I decide to setup in the corner across from OL as I figured QD is going to take a turn or two to reach me and I'd rather kill OL first as he shuts down my list pretty hard. I moved up fast trying to catch him off guard, but he bugged out with OL and 5 forward with Ryad. No shots. QD starts turning in and he 5 K's with Ryad again, OL is now kind of center of the board and I'm very confused. The next turn I'm circling in from his side of the board about to come up the mid hoping that I can stay at R3 or further from Ryad while I setup a trap for QD. Ryad banks off as he thought I'd come in on an angle, forgetting about my flight assist to get me further faster. QD ends up R1 of Wedge, R2 of the other two. He fires on Wedge and takes down his shields. I retaliate and get QD down to 2 hull. Jan gets 1 more hull off. Norra decided he must die and pumps 3 hits and a crit into him. QD evaporates. OL Sloops in the next turn, but Wedge turned away hard 3 and re positioned behind OL with guns of Ryad. Jan strips the evade and the focus tokens off Ryad, Norra gets him down to 2 hull with an out the butt clutch crit. Wedge finishes him off. The next turn OL gets into the perfect spot, I cant flight assist Wedge due to bumping Norra. OL crit crit hit's into Wedge and wedge dies with both crits being double damage. Norra and Jan finish off the next round.
    100-34 Win

Final swiss standings - 2nd place with 3-1 and 631 MOV

top 4 elimination round vs - Rac Lo
sonova... not the matchup I wanted. I wanted Dash/Miranada.... This time the game goes really fast. Same setup for him, but I decided to sit across from Rac. I come up slow, taking 4 turns to get to the center line. Meanwhile his Rac has made it to the opposite board edge and is slowly turning around... Inquisitor trying to flank me. I decided to joust. I get up into R2 of Inquisitor who only has a focus, it's got to be now! Wedge blanks, TL into blanks!!! Norra and Jan get 1 shield off Inquisitor. Rac throws up into Wedge and takes down shields. The next turn I'm expecting Inquisitor to turn away as he usually does, so I fly 3 bank with Norra, 1 forward wedge, 1 bank Jan to setup a kill box. He 5 straights and lands right beside Wedge. Rac assigns 0 skill to Norra.  Jan ends up being at R1 of both ships.... Jan takes the R1 shot into Inquisitor.... Inquisitor blanks and has to spend the evade! Norra takes the 3 dice shot out the rear....and hit crist, focus to a crit.... nattie evades. Inquistor fires Prockets and gets Jan down to 1... Rac kills Jan. Next turn Inquisitor is way out of position, Wedge and Norra get revenge on Rac and burn him down to 10 hull. Norra gets PS0, and I have no idea what the Inquisitor is upto... Rac gets down to 6 hull and then he unloads into Norra getting all the crits and blinding her. Inquisitor is back from his slight detour... Wedge is out of position and tries to the R3 on Inquisitor...yea, all the evades all day long. Rac R1 into Wedge and puts a crititcal hit into him... direct hit, burn Flight Assist, Inquisitor fires and burns Wedge to the ground. Norra vs the world.... Norra gets major explosion into a double damage chain reaction due to a inquisitor shot. Rac then finishes her off.

Not bad for a T65 and a HWK-290....Wedge did most of the damage all day, but Jan Ors was the key piece that put it all together. Norra dealt consistent damage and was always in the right place at the right time. I love this list, and I can only imagine it will get better with the release of the T65 fit... especially if it is 1 point or less. It's a brutally hard list to play which allows 0 mistakes and a lot of luck. Norra rarely builds more than 2 Reys, and often needs to disengage build them back up. Jans TLT's were brilliant for stripping tokens. but Wedge just does so much damage with Jan backing him up it's pretty scary. If only he could get a token for defense, because natty evades are rare... and often with no defense tokens he's going to die.
Everyone was pretty shocked how fast the list actually moves, and each ship has their own dangers which means that target priority is not exactly easy. Most players seem to think Wedge needs to die first, but I will gladly trade Wedge for QD, Poe, Miranda....etc. Any day of the week. I bet those games with QD would have gone a lot differently if I didn't burn her down in a single combat round.

Went to another tournament this past weekend. Decided to take my peers advice and swap in Fenn. The idea is that the list is fairly fragile and Fenn could help in a few ways... locking down mods, stripping focus, and coordinating an action to Norra or Wedge.
    The list changed to:
    Norra Wexley (29)
    Veteran Instincts (1)
    Rey (2)
    Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
    Shield Upgrade (4)
    Alliance Overhaul (0)
    Wedge Antilles (29)
    Expertise (4)
    Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
    Integrated Astromech (0)
    Fenn Rau (Sheathipede) (20)
    Veteran Instincts (1)
    Hotshot Co-pilot (4)
    Flight-Assist Astromech (1)
    Pulsed Ray Shield (2)

Game 1 : Sol and Nym
His approach was awesome, setting up a proxi mine wall to give him some extra defense. I, mistakenly, went all in on Sol first. I forgot to pull a focus off Rey... fired with Norra and ALL focuses. Could have really done some damage...if I remembered to pull a focus of Rey. Wedge fired and did 2 damage (evade from the bomb wall). Nym threw a harpoon into wedge, Wedge took it all. Sol finished him off with TLT fire. Norra and Fenn eventually took down Sol and stripped shields off Nym, but in the end not enough. Pulsed Ray Shield actually helped Fenn survive 3 extra turns! This opponent ended up going 4-0 winning the day.
Game 2: Scum Alpha - Nym, Jostero, Torani
Lots of harpoons across from me, pretty scary! I figure I can out position him with my flight assist and fairly quick ships, so I came up hard across the opposite edge and took initiative since he was running PS9 on Nym and Torani. I really wanted to kill something first. He started turning back after his two turns of 4 forwards. I split Wedge and Norra up coming down two lanes of asteroids and had Fenn back a bit. Fenn was too far back for the first engage and wasn't able to stop the full mod harpoon attack on Wedge which took him down! But Wedge and Norra got Jostero down to 2 hull...even after Wedge target locked himself into some blanks. Nym was debating dropping a bomb on Jostero to get him to fire.. but decided to keep him alive to draw more fire. Smart move. I ended up taking him down, but after that it was too much harpoons coming my way and I failed. In hind sight... Nym dies first.
    Game 3: Kylo, Omega, Tomax
It's do or die time! I need to redeem myself. I came up fast from the opposite side, as usual. He kind of setup split up a bit. I figured I should go for OL or Tomax first as Tomax and his never ending crackshot and homing missiles (wat?!) was going to be a problem if I left him go unchecked. Kylo was going to be left for last as he had an optimized version at PS9 with initiative. As we spent 4 turns jockying for position we finally started to meet in the center of the map. He boosted/barrel rolled with Kylo to hopefully avoid some arcs... well Flight assist is beautiful and I got all three guns @ R1 on the poor guy. Kylo disappeared. Wedge disengaged hard after getting shield stripped. Norra fired on OL out the bum stripping shields and giving a double damage crit on a classic 5 dice blank out (R3/stealth device). He got Fenn with a well placed OL shot and Tomax's missile. OL started getting a little slippery as we exchanged shots the next round and Norra lost shield to the other missile and OL gave her a couple of nasty crits. Finally Wedge came back around and took OL DOWN hard. Norra slapped back Tomax hard and then Wedge finished it off the next round. Only lost Fenn.
    Game 4: OL, QD, Deathrain
I've never faced a deathrain, so really had no idea what to expect. He setup a bit spread out and came in a bit of a mish mash. I only had a shot on OL the first round of combat, but with all guns. I got her down to 1 hull and she flew right by the next round as I gained all guns on QD. QD stripped shields off Norra and the two answered with getting QD down to 1 hull. He disengaged with QD and OL as they are now where I deployed and I'm on his edge of the map with Deathrain. Deathrain gets a harpoon off on Norra and she gets really sad with natty crits (took direct, structural damage, damaged engine, and stress). QD took down Norra, but Wedge avenged her! Fenn took down OL, but Deathrain took down Fenn... now it's Wedge (full) and deathrain (no shields), 30 minutes left. We danced for 25 minutes with only 1 shot exchanged which Wedge dodged but got Deathrain down to 3 hull. Finally, I steered him into the rocks and I was able to spring my trap with my much faster X-Wing and got a R1 shot on him taking him down. Wedge for the win!

So... how did the test of Fenn being slotted into the support role work here? I WANTED JAN BACK ALL DAY!!!!
Game 1: if I didn't forget Rey and had the Jan boost...I probably could have killed Sol before he fired. Wedge would have taken the harpoon, but would have been able to toss the condition next round (disengage fast) and then come back around to rejoin with 2 hull left. Then she still could have boosted Norra to take down Nym.
Game 2: I probably still would have lost... but I would have had more confidence to go for Nym off the hop with the chance to erase him in the first pass.
Game 3: would have been over faster. OL might have died on that poop a crit shot.
Game 4: OL would have died in the first engage. QD would have died on the second engage. Deathrain wouldn't be able to survive the next round.

My conclusion here is that one needs to go either ALL IN on offense or defense right now. No going part of the way. Fenn doesn't give enough defense or offense himself to slot into this list and be effective. He did negate some damage from the harpoons, but really it could have been negated entirely by the extra offense and those ships dying a turn or two earlier.
The counter argument I fielded was "it's only one extra die, it's only 1 damage a turn". No, no it's not. Not only is it an extra die (usually on Wedge to maximize the damage output) but it's also the TLT shots. Thats 3 extra damage a turn because Fenn did on average 3 damage a game. Wedge also becomes the primary target instead of Jan when I use Fenn. So if Jan dies first, chances are I've already damaged the enemy enough to take them easily with Wedge and Norra.
I'm still not sure if this list has reached it's maximum optimization..... I keep looking at swapping out Jan, but maybe Norra needs to go.... I have a few ideas I'm going to test. Either way, I cannot wait for my T65 upgrades!

A few quick comments (this is the aforementioned Iain):
    - Thank you for the apology. People have strong and varying opinions on this subject, and I very much understand them all. What was directed at me personally was a bit of a shock and upsetting (and I am grateful we are moving past it), but setting that aside, the actual position (a desire to see RAI used for this) is one I may not have the luxury of agreeing with as a marshal, but is one I emotionally understand and certainly don’t fault those who desire it.
    - On the bright side, I think the actual rules outcome we desire is almost universally the same. We just (marshal badge on) need to hear it officially from FFG. I understand people believe we sort of kind of already have heard it from them. I disagree with that assessment, but I understand the position.
    - List Juggler is an amazing community asset and I am grateful as **** for it. Hopeful for a future “Shirt Juggler” enhancement so we can learn which Star Wars/X-Wing Community tee shirts are topping the meta.

I've been watching Fair Ship Rebels go down hard locally to massive bombing.  I would expect a bomb build to make the top.  Nym struggles with TLTs.  I'd expect a Y-Miranda-Y or a Y-Nym-Y to win.

It's actually harder then you'd think to keep people in arc. They can zoom past you, meaning it will take several turns to get the back in arc without k-turning, but then you are actionless and heaven help you if Rey's blocked. Finn isn't going to be used as often, meaning you probably aren't getting five point of use out of him.
Honestly, Fat Han's strength is as a kite. He runs away while taking pot shots at people. Rey (especially with Finn) is as a mega jouster. Get in, smash face, do a sloop and go at it again. Yeah, C-3po and the old title will make her tankier, but also at the expense of the usual way she stays tanky and her mobility.

About my third or fourth date with a girl, she told me she had wanted to be an artist when she was younger and enjoyed painting.  I asked her if she ever painted miniatures, she said no.  I showed her some of my Warhammer figures.  She made suggestions on how to paint them.  We had several very nice dates painting "dudes" together (her word for my miniatures).  I'd go out to play games with my friends or in her words, "The nerd herd."
20 years later, we don't paint anymore, and I play X-Wing instead of Warhammer.  She never took up gaming, but she still calls my friends my nerd herd and wishes me luck when I go out of state for a tournament.  Been married to her since 99.  I never needed her to play, but she understands that I enjoy it.  That's really what matters.  Whether it is Yoga, or X-Wing, or romantic movies; if they are the right person, they will be okay with what you like.  If they don't, then they weren't.

As for my co-workers, my fellow staff and students ask me how I did at out of state tournaments.  Be yourself.  No one else can be that.

Took this list to yet another SC in my area and one mistake on my part knocked me out of the top 4 on the 4th game.
3-1, really fun list to play. That Jakku is the devil. Also I went Pattern Analyzer and it worked really well.

Game 1 against Vessery, Ryad and Omega Leader - mostly the usual kit except Stealth Device on Vessery oddly enough, so I left him alone. 62-23. Half of Ketsu lost but thats it.
Game 2 against Stele (Tie/D Ion, Crackshot), Ryad (Tie/D Ion, VI), Pure Sabacc (title, VI) - player with not many games under his belt, but still gave me trouble haha, MoV hurt me a lot all day Ketsu was untouched but I lost the other 2 ships, 100-52
Game 3 against Asajj & Boba (tooled up with too many things to remember) - made some minor mistakes for my Arc but never missed a shot, just missed 1 or 2 opportunities to add an extra Tractor Beam with Ketsu. It was a brutal game for both sides and it ended up with a full health Jakku having just finished off Boba who finished Ketsu, against Asajj on 1 hull. A wrong move on his part, expecting me to do a backward maneuver to not bump him saw him end up in range 1 of my bomb without any boost or barrel roll to save him, after he had just put me down to 2 hull from one attack at range 1. GG Jakku brings victory with a bomb! (which he got back after killing boba )
Game 4 against dash (rey, lone wolf, hlc title), 2x TLT Ywings - a really really stupid mistake on my part saw everything I'd worked toward in that game come undone with 1 bump, not letting me shoot on Dash with Ketsu (I bumped myself!) and letting Dash run free with 2 hulls and killing my Scyk who had just put him down to that few hulls left... and the TLTs cleaned the rest while he escaped until Kestu died and then the Jakku was alone ]: I had this game easy and lost it just as easily as I could've won it. Rip!

Gonna try it at another SC this tuesday :3 Much fun.

I battled at Oshkosh, WI's Flying Phoenix Games hobby store last Sunday (June 11th). We had a total of 34 players at the event for a full day of gaming. The new C-Roc upgrades game out and I thought I'd put them to the test. I have only flown Imperial lists at this point but did not like having to fly the same ships all the time (Defenders, Tie/SFs, etc). The C-Roc gave me the opportunity to fly a list without having to use a Jumpmaster 5000, Fenn Rau, or Mindlink that was more my style. So here is my list.
    Syck Tugs
    Jakku Gunrunner (Quadjumper)
    -Cikatro Vizago
    -Seismic Charges
    -Hyperwave Comm Scanner
    -Cloaking Device
    -Spacetug Tractor Array

    Ketsu Onyo (Lancer-Class Pursuit Craft)
    -Veteran Instincts
    -Dengar
    -Glitterstim

    Genesis Red
    -Veteran Instincts
    -’Heavy Scyk” Interceptor
    -Pulsed Ray Shield
    -Heavy Laser Cannon

I had a 3 point imitative bid. You barely saw more than that and my goal was to go second. Where every my opponent put an asteroid, I started populating that area. This is where I'd fight so the Jakku Gunrunner would tug everything. I also can see where they deploy and then deploy on the other side of the rocks (Hyperwave com allowed the tug to deploy at PS 12 to help out).

Another point is that if my opponent moves and tokens up, even at PS 9, it gives Genesis Red the chance to steal their tokens while I target lock.
After cloaking with the Jakku, Cikatro VIzago would switch out the cloaking device with Scavenging Crane. Cant shoot, but with 4 agility with base two plus cloak (I got 6 once with range three and through debris) I would throw them onto rocks and drop a bomb. Bomb was more of a scare tactic. This little guy owned the games he was in. The phrases "We were discussing the merits of your tugboat" and "TUGBOAT" as well as "It is such a mind game ship" shows you the power of introducing ships to rocks. I also picked the three biggest rocks possible.

If I had to change something, I would give up Pulsed Ray Shields on the Syck and switch it out for Gyroscopic Targeting on the Lancer. I used that upgrade once, compared to everything else so many times. I also found myself having to decide switching arcs or focusing to live/kill my opponent. I think that would make Ketsu more survivable/hurt others.
    Off to the games.
    Game one:
    Contracted Scout (JumpMaster 5000) x2
    -Attanni Mindlink
    -Plasma Torpedoes
    -R4 Agromech
    -Extra Munitions
-one had Boba Fett and another had Intelligence Agent
    Fenn Rau
    -Attanni Mindlink
    -Concord Dawn Protector Title
    -Autothrusters
He deployed both boats on my left side (Boba's Jumpmaster along the board edge). Fenn Rau is in the middle. In all my games I deployed Ketsu on the opposite corner near the edge of the board, followed by Genesis Red next to her. The Jakku deploys in the middle to let me 'hunt in the asteroid field.
I move slow a first then quickly to the other the map directly ahead of me so I can intercept his JumpMasters. He had moved forward then slammed around quickly to that side of the board once he realized he had to come to me. The Jakku bullies Fenn Rau out of the asteroid field. When we met on right corner of the board, I got a free round of just Genesis Red vs. the Intelligence agent contracted scout. This two damage was helpful because I finished it 2 rounds later thanks to some tractor beams lowering it's agility.
The shining moment was when I moved forward with the Jakku to tractor beam Fenn. Fenn had bumped the other Jumpmaster the previous round running away from him. My thought was if I tractor beam him left then he would bump moving right, in an attempt to attack me, not allowing him to move (I had the other jumpmaster boxed in). Instead, he went to do a talon roll, got stuck with no modifications and a stress. A Ketsu and a Heavy Laser Cannon killed him in one volley. The other Jumpmaster died soon after that. I gave up half of my points from Ketsu due to one torpedo.
Jakku was mean to Fenn the whole game telling him where to go and where he couldn't go.

    Game 2:
    His list:
    Syndicate Thug (Y-Wing) x2
    -Twin Laser Turret
    -Unhinged Astromech
    Asajj Ventress (Lancer)
    -Latts Razzi
    -Shadow Caster Title
    -Gyroscopic Targeting
-2 upgrade cards that I cannot remember totaling 8 points (did not take a picture, sadly)
This gentleman and my first round opponent were from the Fox Valley Cartel. Both wonderfully nice people. They seem like a good group to be with.
He deployed his Y-wings in the middle and Asajj on the left side. I deployed on the right as I did before. Lots of tight asteroids in the middle with one range two from the top left corner (very important).
I decided to go hard left with everything into the asteroids then moved up the left side of the board. He when to the left side of the board with his Y-Wings ad had Asajj move towards them to get behind them.
When I met up with them, I took down his first Y-wing in three rounds of combat (thanks to the tug boat lowering agility on that final round). In that same round I did 4 damage to the other Y-Wing. What helped was that very important asteroid in the top left corner. Asajj landed on it and could not fire. That gave me enough time to kill the Y-wing and keep Ketsu alive.
I chased his other Y-wing for points and could not keep up with him due to my positioning.....except with the Jakku! He had made it to my side of the board. In hopes he did a hard 3, I tractor beamed him forward so he may run off the map. He did exactly that. Ketsu got to do one round of fire on Asajj before dying. The Heavy Laser Genesis Red took Asajj down to one wound. She was forced to focus or evade to stay alive giving Genesis Red survivability. Asajj was chased into a corner by both of my remaining ships. Had she not died to Genesis Red, a seismic charge deployed in the only path from not running off the board would of stripped her last wound.

    Game 3:
    Kanan Jarrus (Ghost)
    -Fire-Control System
    -Rey
    -Ghost Title
    -Twin Laser Turret
    -Recon Specialist
    -Tactical Jammer
    Zeb (Attack Shuttle)
    -Auto Blaster Turret
    -Phantom Title
    -Chopper
    Biggs
    -Integrated Astromech
    -M8-G8
This was my one loss of the day. I new that this would be tough since he could one shot my Syck and have enough fire power to ignore/take down my Jakku if he rolled decently. I should not of changed my tactics, but I ended up deploying right in front of him to take him out. Looking back, I know I wanted to take out Biggs quickly, but I do not know why I played into his strengths on purpose by charging him. The Syck died the turn before I bombed Biggs off the board. The Jakku was useless because I could only bomb once, his agility was zero, and it was not fast enough to get in front to bump. I also had a bad dice roll resulting him dying in one shot. Ketsu died but not before getting half the points on the ghost. This fine gentleman, and overall a pleasant person to be around, went 5-0. He was first seed in the cut but lost right away to the eight seed.
    2-1 Loss 52-100 MOV: 382
    Game 4:
    Colonel Vessery (Tie Defender)
    -Veteran Instincts
    -Twin-Ion Engine MK. II
    -Tie/x7 Title
    Backdraft (Tie/SF)
    -Veteran Instincts

    -Lightweight Frame
    Quick Draw (Tie/SF)
    -A score to settle
    -Fire Control System
    -Special Ops Training Title
    -Lightweight Frame
I felt I had a strong standing against this list because his ships could be tossed with tractor beam. However, he had a lot of fire power. He deployed on the left side of the board. He placed his ships, from left to right, Vessery, Quickdraw, and Backdraft in the middle-ish. I deployed in my normal order but on the right hand side. We met in the middle of the tight asteroid pack in the center of the board. It did not go well for him. He ended up bumping Quickdraw allowing me to strip her shields. Jakku tractor beaming her allowed me to remove her from the board with a heavy laser cannon. The Jakku and the rest of my fleet pursued Backdraft to my left side deployment zone. He died thanks to Jakku re-positioning him where I wanted and lowering the agility. Ketsu was dropped to one hull because of the initial combat and pursuing Backdraft. I ended up saving her by running her to my right side of the board, shooting as I went. Vessery chased after her. However, he was then in a tough spot. Does he focus allowing Genesis Red to have a focus/target lock with a heavy laser cannon. Or, does he Target lock Ketsu and then only have 2 agility with no modifications, other than an evade token, thanks to the Jakku. It was a tough spot to be in.
    3-1 100-22 MOV: 560
I would like to point out that, like all my other opponents, this guy was an outstanding gentleman. The day was getting long and he made a mistake or two as we went. However, he was a very happy person and ultimately wished me luck in the top cut. Shout out to him. I'll keep his name a secret for privacy.
    Game 5:
    Dark Curse (Tie Fighter)
    Maarek Stele (Tie Defender)
    -Veteran Instincts
    -Ion Cannon
    -Tie/D Title
    Rexler Brath (Tie Defender)
    -Expertiese
    -Twin Ion Engine MK. II
    -Ion Cannon
    -Tie/D Title
This list made me nervous. If I can tractor onto rocks, I am fine. If I can't, I have to do some fancy maneuvering and pray to the dice gods. Also, Ion may be the bane of this list if I can't get Jakku or the Syck where I want them.
He deployed on the left side. From left to right, I believe he had Dark Curse, Rexlar Brath, and Maarek Stele. I deployed in my normal order but on the right side. Now, it is important to note that I said, "I believe" because I spent most of this game shell shocked. I set up the Jakku just right so even if he took an Ion, I could tractor beam a Tie Defender onto a rock and potentially have him fly through two rocks. BUT THE JAKKU DIED! I blanked out or did not roll enough. The hard counter to the Jakku apparently are two well positioned Tie/D Defenders and bad green dice. I do not remember much of the game because of it. Maarek Stele died soon after. Ketsu died taking out Maarek Stele. It was down to a full health Dark Curse and Genesis Red who focused for defense. I forgot how frustrating Dark Curse can be when red dice don't come through. Between a mix of K-turns, and one round of me trying to get some distance, we had a grueling slug match. He pulled a head stripping a shield and a hull. I got a lucky range one critical resulting in double damage. Without that, Dark curse would of lived through the next round's single heavy laser cannon shot.
    4-1 100-66 MOV: 704
    TOP 8!!
I made it to the top 8 as the 3rd seed!
My last opponent made the 6th seed....meaning REMATCH!
    His list again:
    Dark Curse (Tie Fighter)
    Maarek Stele (Tie Defender)
    -Veteran Instincts
    -Ion Cannon
    -Tie/D Title
    Rexler Brath (Tie Defender)
    -Expertiese
    -Twin Ion Engine MK. II
    -Ion Cannon
    -Tie/D Title
The board almost looked exactly the same. Same set up. However, this time, the Jakku was angry. Very angry. We battled near the left board edge closer to his corner. Jakku ensured someone ran onto or landed on a rock almost every round of combat. I believe Maarek Stele died first, followed by Rexler Brath, and then Dark Curse. I do not remember most of the details because both of our games were very intense and were very similar in both of us being surprised. I think what got him this game were two things; bad dice and his last two rounds of games. He had an opponent in round 4 that kept making mistakes, asking for redues, etc. I played next to him and I felt frustrated for him. Then he had me in game 5 where it looked like he had it. In our top 8 he made a few early mistakes making it impossible to recover quickly. He maintained composure even though you could tell he was battling himself. I would say the highlight of the game was the end where we were joking and having a good time. He did a very good job keeping the frustration to himself and not affecting the game. I would battle any person any day with that level of patience.
I do not believe I game up anything. Possibly half of Ketsu.
    TOP 4:
THE ULTIMATE SHOWDOWN WITH A FRIEND!
This friend one of mine was my groomsmen and I was his best man in his. We have been playing in tournaments in various games since we were in 16 years. However, this was the first time we fought in a cut.
    His list:
    Boba Fett (FireSpray-31)
    -Fearlessness
    -Slave 1 Title
    -Tail Gunner
    -Long-Range Scanners
    Dengar (JumpMaster 5000)
    -Expertise
    -Plasma Torpedoes
    -Unhinged Astromech
    -Punishing One
    -Extra Munitions
    -K4 Security Droid
We had asteroids tightly packed in the middle with a large lane going from my center to the center of the left side of the board. There was a rock range two of my bottom left corner and top left corner. That last one was key. He deployed his forces hiding in between that rock and the board edge. I deployed the Jakku directly in front of him and the other two to use that lane. The goal was to use that rock to block his movement so that I can flank his ships. My friend moved forward one and I slammed forward. I slammed forward again using Boba to stop Dengar from pointing at Genesis Red and Ketsu. I removed Boba's Shields and took no damage on Jakku. Jakku lowered Boba's agility next turn and bumped his squad. Boba died that round. Dengar was in a good position to torpedo a ship next round if I did not bump him. Unfortunately, the Jakku was in a position where moving forward would stop him from bumping. I suddenly remembered "Wait...This thing can go backwards!." I went back banking to the right causing Dengar to bump. Ketsu cleared everything, heading around the rock towards his board edge, and adjusted his arc taking out the rest of Dengar's shields in exchange for some hull hits. Genesis Red chose not to fire being at range one of Dengar. Final round, Jakku dropped a bomb on Dengar and flew off. Genesis Red K-turned and Ketsu banked around with only 2 HP left and now in arc of Dengar but threw a rock. Dengar missed with his primary then proceeded to blank out to 3 heavy laser cannon hits from Genesis Red. He was down to one wound. I shot with Ketsu and killed him thanks to another round of cold dice. Ketsu died for her sins.
I got great positioning right away and took advantage of it. I believe I may of had the game even with the cold dice due to that Heavy Laser Cannon and Jakku's tractor beam lowering Dengar's agility. However, cold dice were cold.
    ITS THE FINAL ROUND!
So wait...I made it to the finals with a Quadjumper and a Syck? This is...SYCK!
If you were surprised about that, here is my opponent's list:
    Darth Vader (Tie Advanced)
    -Adaptability
    -Tie/x1 Title
    -Advanced Targeting Computer
    -Engine Upgrade
    Rexler Brath (Tie Defender)
    -Expertise
    -Twin Ion Engine Mk. II
    -Tie/x7 Title
    Duchess (Tie Striker)
    -Veteran Instincts
    -Light Weight Frame
    -Adaptive Ailerons
If you think having this list in the finals in impressive, let me make you more impressed. This list was the 8th seed that took out the 1st seed Kanan Jarrus/Biggs and took out the World Champion List Dengar/ Tel Trevura in the quarter finals.
We had tight pack rocks with a lane going from one side to another. He deployed on my right with Vader at the center-ish of the board. I deployed my normal order but on the left side of the board. So much happened in this game I have to give you highlights. More importantly, I have to give separate highlights for the Jakku. Here are the highlights:
-Ketsu threaded that side to side lane the whole game dealing damage and 5K when necessary.
-Rexlar one shot Genesis Red from full health due to a direct hit crit
-A couple of crits knocked Ketsu to 2 HP
Now, the Jakku has gotten a name for itself by this point. When we had deployed, my opponent had said, "So, this is the ship I have heard of so much." Throughout the game, he told me how much of a mind game it was. I had great positioning with it every round forcing him to heavily think where I would place one of his ships. This mind game got to in him the end with Vader. Jakku's Highlights:
-Dropped a bomb on Rexlar and Duchess
-During the same bombing, gave Duchess a tractor beam token which resulted in her dying from a combined fire of Genesis Red and Ketsu
-forced two rounds of my opponent to not fire with all three of his ships due to bumping, the threat of Duchess being bombed, or tractor beams onto rocks
-Rexlar died being tractor beamed in such a way that he flew through a rock
-Threw ships onto 6 rocks causing a total of 4 damage.
    -Killed Varder with a bomb.
The final round saw a full health Quadjumper and a 2 hull Ketsu staring down a 3 hull Vader. In those mind games the Jakku was dishing, Vader had 4K through and asteroid (took no damage). I proceeded to drop a bomb, move forward and tractor beamed Vader back onto a rock for one damage. He banked one through the rock again for one more damage and died to the seismic charge.
    Jakku's damage that round: 6 rocks = 4 damage
    2 bombs = 3 damage.
    I win!
My last opponent was my favorite match of the day. Both of our goals were to get Agent Kallus. So we ended up joking the entire time, made a laugh of everything (Genesis Red dying so quick). For such a long day, it felt like we were playing our first rounds. He was also a good sport about being tractor beamed all over the place. I know I would be frustrated by the end of the day and that would wear on me. I look forward to battling you again some day!

Yeah. I heard Louis C.K. on the Opie & Anthony Show complain about how Americans would rather support a place like Walmart than pay a few extra cents/dollars to support a local business. I'd link to it here, but it's probably very profane (justifiably so) so if you want to hear it, I'll PM it to you.
If people continue to stop supporting their FLGS', we'll be left with nothing. In 5 years, do you want your FLGS to be another CVS, or do you want it to be a place to hang out with like minded people and game?
