I'd field an army of as many as them as possible.

Four Factions on Organized Play Store Poster
Obscene replied to Elliphino's topic in Runewars Miniatures Game
IF the game gains enough popularity over the years, I could see 8 factions easy. I think 4 is a good modest start out of the gate to try and build a strong platform. Seeing the interview with the CEO and the promo material confirming the 4 factions really just cemented my belief that FFG is here to stay with this game and not just trying to test the waters. -
After theorying some units out (namely for the daqan side, havn't had enough time to touch waiqar), Things die pretty quickly in this game. Somethings can deal loads of damage such Kairi or the Calvary, but even a rank n file spearmen unit can do quite a bit of damage. On a magic roll doing 12 damage with out flanking. 3 trays of reanimates! Reanimate Archers can do this as well from ranged! So I really don't think a ton of MSU units, so far, is the way to go. This could change depending on upgrades and new units but it seems big blocks with characters or elite units as flanking is the way to go. Thats not to say, a large block of front line rune golems wouldn't be effective, but a Ardus coming in from the side could definitely chew through the lot of them if he rolls well and has the mortal strike ability from the carrion lancer active. Kairi on a strong roll can zap through a ton of units as well with her chain lightning or whatever the thematic reasoning for her surge ability is. So expect games to be bloody.

I think the most obvious implication is being able to use the hit modifier on a quick orange attack for a nice amount of damage or to boost your units armor. The yellow movement could also be turned into a charge. MAYBE causing the unit to be able to face a flanking foe and attack in the same turn or shift the unit an inch and attack in the same turn. Definitely a powerful card.

For the record: Those are the types of upgrades available in general. The specific model upgrades are pictured in white:(Not all upgrades require a command level unit.) Bottom left is the unit type and faction. Infantry and Daqan. The top left is his stat profile. The top right is his model. The Bottom right is his point cost. The center in the image reflects upon when you can take him. So this guy can be taken, according to the cards from gencon, in a 2 by 2 formation. Spearmen average out at: Formation 1: 2.25 ppm Formation 2: 1.875 ppm Formation 3: 1.67 Formation 4: 1.63 ppm So he is kind of expensive almost equaling the value of a whole tray at the units largest size.

Quality post ^ Personally, I think the miniatures look better than KoW. I think they carry with them a certain high fantasy feel with a bit of exaggeration to help the details pop for painting. Compared to GW's ultradark, or some other companies extremely realistic sculpts.
-
I'm not really arguing the extreme level of quality that can be found in GW's minis, but I can argue the factor of cost is well and above much higher, which is the primary point. From what I know of the rules, compared to GW's rules, its also a much cleaner and elegant system. However, if price point isn't a issue and the game system, I would agree that GW takes the cake as far as miniature quality goes.

Just so people can cool it about command attachments being expensive: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Sylvaneth-Branchwraith https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Grimwrath-Berserker https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Ogrid-Thaumaturge http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/trollbloods/warlocks/madrak-ironhide-world-ender http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/trollbloods/units/kriel-warrior-standard-bearer-piper http://privateerpress.com/hordes/gallery/trollbloods/units/northkin-fire-eaters Yes, it's terribly expensive compared to playing games with out models. Compared to games with models, it's not. The command squad comes out to 7.50 per a model. While expensive, models tend to be expensive. It's a reasonable price for a box of 4 unique models that you will more than likely only buy once, twice for some extreme skew strategy. Totally within the realm of a reasonable purchase for this type of game.

Which happens to be 8 archers, and 4 knights. Read the product description please.

PPM gets cheaper the larger the unit gets. It's pretty interesting for making the game accessible for newer players while ramping up for more experienced players. I expect it to have the feel of 1250-1500 point fantasy army in 6th edition. The one thing I am really looking forward to is the lack of "Gotcha" rules, and the focus on maneuvering units. Daqan is currently looking really interesting to me because a lot of their current upgrades allow them to cheat the dial to their advantage. An Example is the smallest squad of reanimates goes from 2 PPM to 1.33 ppm.

Game is actually relatively cheap to buy in 160 dollars and trading half of a core set will get you everything. 320 dollars will get you two full fledged armies. The command squads are expensive, that is due to unique sculpts/frequency of being bought which appears to be one per a player unless you decide to run 2 3x3 blocks of infantry. Hell it's hard to say that they are even expensive when I've paid 10 dollars for models with special weapons. I think people are blowing the scale of the game out of proportion and are assuming it's like 7th and 8th edition fantasy the number of units on the table and their point cost was so low it was absurd.
-
2 coresets or trading with a pal is the definite way to go. Combine the 8 trays of infantry is the only way to play the command upgrades at the 9x9 formation currently. Game is actually pretty cheap compared to the biggest leaders in the market. The command formations are based off the cost of unique sculpts, molds, and the amount of times it will be bought. I've been in the hobby for a while, you see select purchases get a higher price tag for that reason. The other models at 4 dollars a piece, with the Calvary costing more, but in leading competitors Calvary can easily cost 60 to 100 dollars a pack.

4 new cards spoiled in Miami Dice's review video.
Obscene replied to JediGeekGirl's topic in Star Wars: Destiny
One thing I think is interesting how players inherently believe that an elite version of a character is inherently superior. Investing more points into an elite character can actually be more damaging then given credit, for if you lose them you lose 2 dice + upgrades. I would also call any concerns for balance, simply whiny, No one has seen enough of the game/pool/meta for it to develop. I do believe there is a certain point of learning to deal with things/mitigating them, compared to outright calling it unfair. I know I have seen quite a few cards with guardian that allow you to redirect attacks or effects that straight remove dice. The problem is, these are all control elements and control is almost always an inherently defensive playstyle. With that in mind, I beckon you to think how you can defend against something if you do not know what it is. This is almost exclusively why in every cardgame where Aggro is king at the start of a cycle/rotation until a control strategy can develop to counter it's critical plays. Food for Thought.
