John79 got a reaction from kuffdaddy in My Legion of shame
FFG will always release faster than I can paint unless I don't care and just rattle can it all. One dude, one at a time. Stick with it.

John79 got a reaction from Khobai in Wishlist
I would like to see some characters from the Cantina playable and an ewok army if I want. More thematic terrain pieces. The valley where R2 is found by Jawas, I want to paint it up and have a shoot out in it. The skeleton in the dune. Uncle Owen's home. Jawa huts, sand crawler, Jabba's sail barge. Coruscant, Kessel. Terrain pieces and lots of it.

John79 reacted to Darth 2Face in Is it just me or do all the new figures have a lot of parts?
It is a good thing for some. I agree that it greatly enhances the modeling/hobby aspect of the game. Some really enjoy that aspect.
For others, it is a huge turn-off. Legion used to be much more accessible to first-time table top gamers because the simplicity of the models created an added level of accessibility. The sprues can be much more intimidating for new players. Even for experienced hobbiest/gamers, it is easy to go to far. I went in on the Robotech RPG Tactics kickstarter (biggest gaming mistake of my life), and those are far worse than anything I've seen in Legion. Half of what I have is still on sprues and I have no intention of ever building them.
Long-term though, I would tend to agree with you. It doesn't take long to become comfortable with the hobby aspect. You just have to be willing to start. I wonder if the compromise is to use soft plastic for simplified starter kits and then have the other expansions be on sprues. I don't know how feasible that is with needing different factories and the need for some models to be hard plastic for practical reasons (B-1s).

What you want are exploded views of various parts of the model to show fitment. It's a piece of cake if you know how to do it correctly and you have the model as an assembly and not as a single solid 3D body. FFG needs a really good drafter to do this other wise the artist will have to draw everything and they don't think the same as a drafter when it comes to the views. You might get enough detail with the views and then again you might not.

That'll go away, and instead be replaced with "it doesn't matter that you hid your model completely out of line of sight of mine, this cardboard corner sticks barely out from this sloped wall and can see the corner of the cardboard of the model you hid behind that rock!"
To play this game effectively we really shouldn't be using models at all anymore. All that will do is trick you into thinking you do have LoS on something you don't, or that you're hidden when you're not.
The templates are a bad solution in Infinity, and they're a bad solution here.
"When drawing line of sight, ignore 'extraneous elements' such as weapons, antennas, basing, etc." There. Solved. And you didn't have to turn it into a cylinder combat game featuring optional but inconvenient models.
****, if they played with these rules when the special edition movies came out, Greedo would've killed Han in the cantina!
