Luthbel reacted to Alderaan Crumbs in Bethesda & GeneSys: A fond wish!
After DarthGM mentioned he made a Fallout hack for the Star Wars system, the thought of official Fallout, Elder Scrolls and Dishonored books for GeneSys popped into my head. That makes me so giddy I had to share it! I've no idea how viable such things are but holy cow, I would LOVE to see those exist! I know Harvey Smith of Arkane Studios mentioned hoping to see a Dishonored P&PRPG, so maybe (since Bethesda oversees that franchise) those books might one day exist. FFG has a reputation of getting awesome franchises and honestly, I can think if no better company to tackle such an endeavor.

btw. I would be happy to translate and share my conversion notes (general and singular episodes) and handouts (location and npc cards, etc).
    If interested give me notice.

I just ordered the Genesys core book, but I still have my WFRP 3e stuff, and hope to use it as much as possible.

Even if they don't convert Midnight, all the lore is available so it shouldn't be too hard to play it as a fantasy setting.

Midnight is my favorite setting ever. If they would publish a new version of it using just any system, I'd support it.

I read it on the L5R Discord when the same question was asked a few days ago. I trust the source. Unfortunately, I was skimming after the fact and it moves so fast I can't hunt it down.
Sorry. It's not particularly helpful wether true or not. But what I understood from the conversation was sometimes this happens. It did with genesys.

Luthbel reacted to StanTheMan in Lore/Background stuff - are there any "darker" people?
Okay, pardon the title, but I wasn't sure how to phrase it. Basically, according to the lore of the setting and such, are there any darker/asiatic type looking people in the setting? I've looked at some of the art/illustrations online and that doesn't seem to be the case. I'm going to be buying the book soon and, as a person of color, I always like to know, setting-wise, if there are folks that look like me in a particular setting. Probably buy it anyway for the rules and such, but FFG did SUCH a good job in this regards in the Star Wars lines that I wondered if that philosophy extended to their own fantasy setting (whereas I'm sure, by the art, it does to their sci-fi settings, for example; mind, I mostly mean from the main Genesys book, but still...).

Basically, just the same thing as the D&D (specially 3rd edition) campaign settings.
In the other hand, +1 for a detailed bestiary included in the setting book.

Loved playing in midnight but was never a fan of D&D as a rule system for it. Considering converting Midnight as a setting to Genesys.

Might this pave the way for a rebirth of Midnight? https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2017/6/27/genesys/

Warhammer fantasy and 40k are done. Maybe now is the time to bring back this unique gem of a game...

Please please please do a port of the Midnight Campaign Setting over to use Genesys.
Love the campaign setting and love Genesys so far.
I ran a 5 year long campaign of Midnight under 3 and 3.5 of D&D.  It would fit much better in a system like this.

The RPG is probably my favourite campaign setting bar none, and it had unique rules added on to the d20 chassis that really supported the setting's flavour. Like Simon Retold said, it's essentially Middle Earth if Sauron won.
The books and the majority of the artwork were gorgeous (in a bleak/oppressive way).
The movie does not do justice to the Midnight brand, at all. And while I have Runebound Midnight, I have never gotten around to playing it (too many games, so little time!)... but it's my understanding that it was one of the weaker Runebound expansions.
I'm sure if I told my friends that I was going to resurrect our Midnight campaign from a few years back (or even start a new one), they would be all in.

I'm personally really looking forward to this.  I've wanted to start a fantasy game, and while I don't mind creating a setting myself, I don't want (or have time) to deal with statting out everything needed: gear, races, spells, talents, etc.  I doubt I'll use their world, except for mining a few ideas, but I'm interested in the rest.
For a $50 price point I expect this to be a pretty meaty tome.  Much more then your standard EotE supplement.

I'm not really sure how you get to this statement from the point I was making.

My point is that I would prefer FFG release a book that further expands on using Genesys for fantasy games without the book being specific to a setting.

So far, i guess you have to come up with your own.

I am excited. Sounds like they'll deliver a lot of stuff that we are trying to develop ourselves here in the forum. Definitely looking forward to this. Also, I think 50 USD sounds reasonable, even in addition to the core rulebook. And I hope that they don't repeat the core rules. I have those already.

Are you serious? I would love if this was $50 of completely new and non-reprinted material. I already have the rules, I don't want to buy them again for every setting book they produce.
I mean, if that's what they do, that's what they do. Still, I'm hoping for $50 of brand new material. A $50 sourcebook would be like getting a Career Book and a Setting Book all in one from Star Wars (without the Lucasfilm tax to boot!).
Plus look at D&D; that's at least $90 to get all the books you need to run the game (PH, DMG, MM).

… also known as $60 less than the MSRP on the three core D&D5E books. Or around $20 below their cheapest price on Amazon.

The cover sayings its a Genesys "Campaign Setting" and the header of the article calls it a "sourcebook". Typically standalone games will say something like "powered by". I think you are jumping to conclusions. Its a world and genre book, not a standalone.
