That's a fairly drastic change considering how many upgrades and other cards we talk about here.
Yes it actually was, because he was the only one asking for it.
To you maybe, but it was clearly both to a lot of other people here. Or are you going to tell everyone else they were wrong? I mean do you believe you get to decide what everyone else thinks?
And asking a community to change how it behaves for the sake of someone who won't bother to learn how things work is again inherently rude and condescending. He even said the whole point is he didn't want to bother to read and learn the jargon used here. How is that anything but condescending?
Your reaction is so overblown. It's a very simple request. It's also helpful to new players and forum goers. I've been here for 6 months and I still am forced to pull out my phone and use the X-Wing Squadron Builder app twenty times a day because I simply don't know what people here are talking about off the top of my head, and I'm positive I'm not the only one.
This thread topic is pretty frequent. It's not just one person. Many people don't know what U-Boats, SL, AT, EM, or the other hundreds of pilot, upgrade, and squad acronyms and abbreviations are off the top of their heads.
I've said it before (in other threads and this one), at least spell out the acronyms the first time you use them. It's courteous, and proper.
Sometimes I do spell out words, but for the most part why bother when most know what ptl, bmst, em, eu etc etc mean.I already said I'm on a cell phone, even right now when I type, it's just so much easier to type pwt instead of primary weapon turret, and then have to delete a stupid autocorrect, or typo, which I've already done now twice typing this, 3 now lol.
It's really not much of a bother to ask. Everyone who frequent here has been new at some point, and we all seem to be doing fine learning the XWing slang on here. I've had to ask before what pwt ment because I was seeing it used a lot, but didn't know what it ment. I asked. I've seen something recently and wasn't sure, and been meaning to ask. I don't make a post asking for everyone to suit my needs. Every game community has its own jargon. I was on nioh for ps4 message boards and came across jargon I didn't understand. I didn't ask everyone there to change their ways to suit me.
If someone asks I've got no problem helping them out, but don't expect me to change something I've become use to and something that makes it easier on me because one is kind of lazy. I'm not trying to be mean, but I hate tying on this keyboard at times, but so it anyway.
Oh and to the guy who basically told the op to f.o, not cool man. Perhaps it is people like that who should leave the community. Agree or disagree, that was pretty low.
ptl - Push The Lmits,
bmst - Black Market Slicer Tools,
em - No idea?!?
eu - Engine Upgrade
The acronyms used on this forum are off putting....
