My point isn’t that people can’t disagree with how FFG does stuff, @Vontoothskie... in fact I don’t disagree with how @Pewpewpew BOOM has written his post. I may not agree with his point, but there’s a worthy discussion there.

I have issue only with the title of the thread which is trollish, baiting and confrontational. It sets a tone which is not catering to discussion, but instead just another thread for the “FFG apologists” and “FFG haters” to fight within. I’m tired of that stupid battle. It's not even worth fighting since there are no 'winners,' just a bunch of folk who look like idiots.

    Fabulous 5’s

    (36) Airen Cracken [Z-95-AF4 Headhunter]
    (5) Cluster Missiles
    Points: 41

    (62) Luke Skywalker [T-65 X-wing]
    Points: 62

    (41) Norra Wexley [BTL-A4 Y-wing]
    (6) Adv. Proton Torpedoes
    (2) R4 Astromech
    Points: 49

    (48) Thane Kyrell [T-65 X-wing]
    Points: 48

    Total points: 200

The synergy with Airen; clusters can fire off twice and proc the action ability twice.

Another scenario: Norra fire off her torpedo, airen give her a free reload the same turn she shoot.

Thane will shoot when there is a damage card to flip. He can even fire off last because all are at initiative 5.

Run it in formation or split up if needed.

Haven't tried it yet... But it is a valid idea?

    I absolutely love this.

I don't play competitively, so I'd add SNR to Luke with R5-D8 and Autothrusters. I'd also add some fun stuff to Thane.

I'd then challenge all comers. But even if I did play competitively, that list you have is great.

I win about 80% of my casual games with dual IG-88, 95% of my Flycasual games and 75% of my tournament games with this configuration:

The thing with IG-88 is that it is not just a list that you can simply pick up from ListFortress; you need to give a lot of thought about obstacle placement, turn zero and manoeuvering them.  They don't have action economy, they have action consistency, which is very different.

They are a lot of fun to play with, which is one of its main key points.  As long as no other version of Dreadlock or 4 phantoms with juke pop up, they can actually last a good while.

What do you mean by "action consistency"?

    Total: 200/200

View in the X-Wing Squad Builder

Brilliant. I have to try this. Thanks for sharing.

  5. My issue (only one) with Passive Sensors on LI ships is there is no way to modify defense dice whey they're getting attacked without including synergy in the list (Garven to pass a focus token, for example) to augment rolls.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to work with the fact that PS prevents defense dice modification of LI ships? I'm open to any ideas.

Kind of feel the same. I'll probably get just one Y-Wing for the Republic, but other than that I think I'll pass. Here's hoping there's a secret FO inclusion in there.

Definitely most excited for Epic. My kitchen table friends tend to play flat-out 500-pt games (really 300 because they still play 1st edition but they're in the process of converting) and I never wanted to before. THIS changes all of that though. Wing squads, objectives, and some huge ships could make it so much fun. Guaranteeing that your Vader won't get focus-fired and totally shot down is just such an exciting idea. SR Vader plus 5 academy pilots clocks in at just under half your list and probably packs quite a punch.

And then you're all but guaranteeing SUPERNATURAL VADER makes it to the endgame and can easily solo what's left of the squad. Pair with a Raider, a bomber wing, or some TIE Defenders for maximum threat.

Actually, you can fit 3 delta defenders and a Sloane Sai shuttle with Advanced Sensors. SWEET! So you can try to take Vader out, but you'll only be killing his TIEs. And as they die, you'll be double-stressing yourself and giving them re-rolls. Or you can go for the shuttle and let Vader's squad hammer you to death. Meanwhile the Defenders will just wreck your life. SO many options that 500pts opens up.

    ^^This. Love it!

I tried 3 Alphas + Rexler Brath at game night. I only got one game in, but it seemed promising. I was up against Luminara, Padmé, and two Handmaidens. That list is annoyingly defensive, but the bulk of it is only when you attack it within their firing arcs.

So the plan was to pincer with two Alphas, and try to range control for a range 3 engagement with Rexler and one Alpha in the middle. Unfortunately, the center Alpha hit debris and took a crit, so he ended up dead first round of engagement.

But this left my two remaining TIE interceptors in position to pursue from behind, while Rexler turned away and brought the enemy through the obstacles. I want to say the Alphas did their job, but Luminara seriously hampered their offense, so the bulk of damage was done by Rexler thanks to his white 4-speed Koiogran Turn.

The final round saw Padmé run away on 1 hull with Structural Damage (so close to getting her!) and Luminara dove into range 1 of both Alphas. And this is where variance kicked in. Her CLT + lock + Force netted only 3 hits, and my Alpha got an evade, surviving on 1 hull. Then she had two 4-dice focused shots coming in, and she didn't make it out alive.

Conclusion: Alphas need to not be shot of they're going to be effective, so you need a bigger threat, preferably one that can bait and run. Variance can also be a problem on their attacks, which is why Sloane seems so natural.

Additional thought: the 4-k is not as good as the 5-k it once had, but the 3-sloops make up for it. Try not to end stressed on the first round of engagement and you can often flip around behind enemies to pursue them the following round.

^^This. It's why I really am enjoying flying Interceptors and A Wings in 2.0.  Resist the temptation to link actions in that first ROE and an Interceptor be a real thorn in somebody's side if it gets behind.

Given Kylo’s stated objective in his tantrum to destroy the memory of the Sith right along with the Jedi and “all of it”, I find it highly unlikely that the Sith troopers are aligned directly with the FO.

Unless JJ is ignoring episode 8 and subverting Rian Johnson’s expectations, in which case I am all for it.

OK...this is going to cause a lot of confusion.   Epic in 2.0 is missions and scenarios that may or may not include Huge Ships.     Huge Ships are....the big ships that used to be called "epic" in 1.0.

So....you are most excited about the Huge Ships?

THAT.....and I ran out of reactions for the day due to everything that I liked yesterday.  😃

I'm excited for all of it. The missions, the Huge Ships, the scenarios...cannot wait!

  10. I'm most excited for Epic. I love that format and have missed it since 2.0 started. Very stoked about Epic Battles. I loved HOtAC and would love to see more stuff like that to break up the monotony of the death match as the preferred format.

I think it would be cool to see FFG offer some D&D style "adventures" at their 'con and introduce new scenarios (aka modules) via freelance writers who work for FFG. A man can dream...

Random thought: the ability to move multiple ships simultaneously looks really cool, and I wonder if that ability will ever make it into the 200 point Hyperspace/Extended format. Would help swarm players a lot.

I thought the Neb-B was too big?

Idk, I can't remember all this scale nonsense when Armada just went "**** it" and got relative scaling down so we could see awesome ships without needing table-sized models

    ...well, almost

I love Armada, but that is just ridiculous. It's just awful. IMHO, anyway. To each his own, I suppose.
