  1. Keep in mind neither Tagge or the station un-scars the unit, it still permadies if it doesn't survive the battle, so neither is terribly game breaking.
  2. I'm sure that's what they mean, but in Armada Initiative specifically means you choose first or second player. Just a minor errata.
  3. Keep in mind that when the g8 lowers speed it may make Jerjerod not needed, which is why the timing matters (and is good for jerry)
  4. It's fair play to be wary of a download link from someone not long established in the community.. that isn't a personal issue, just good common internet sense. (the download is fine tho, folks) Much easier on the printer ink to use this than scanning the official sheets
  5. ET is just a speed one move. It has no move dial to change, and no matter what the ship's top normal speed is, the ET is still only speed one. "After you execute a maneuver, you may exhaust this card to execute a speed-1 maneuver" and At the start of the Ship Phase, you may discard this card or spend a token. If you do, until the end of the round, each friendly ship may change its speed by 1 during its Determine Course step. Changing it's speed, which is on the dial. If EF can affect ET, why can't a nav token or command? Per the rulebook: "When a ship is determining course for movement, it may spend it's nav command to increase or decrease it's speed by one" and has no mention of the speed dial in the rule for the navigate command itself.
  6. It says when making an assault, the assaulting player has Initiative. Initiative means being able to choose to be player 1 or player 2 in a scenario. Now, on a special assault there is no reason to be player 2, and when attacking a base having the attacker be player 2 is nonsense.. It says that the assaulting player must choose from the defender's objective cards (and/or location cards).. But it never states that the assaulting player has to be player 1... I'm assuming this is an oversight.. but technically by the book I can assault your base and with initiative choose to be player 2...
  7. Screed works, but both the red and the blue crit-only faces means no damage.....
  8. Also, there is no initiative bid in CC, it's based on attacker/defender, so the only reason not to have 500 points at all is you don't have the resources, so your squad limit after r1 should be 1/3 of 500 no matter what your actual fleet size is
  9. The cards say the effect once triggered last to the end of the round specifically, so seems pretty clear. If Tarkin dies do you take the tokens he gave out at the beginning of the round, or if Tagge dies do you remove the defense tokens?
  10. One of everything tommorow, second arqitens next week, and then possibly (probably) a second of each fighter pack in the next month or so
  11. I would totally ClawPoMB the OP, for baiting me into thinking an article went up, but that just got mega nerfed today.
  12. I think Thrawn's tactical genious is overrated... who puts Konstantine in a fleet of one small base ship and some flotillas?
  13. Had 10 in Az. I forgot to get lists but I can buzz Imperial Outpost in glendale AZ for them probably. They were super generous and it was a great time. I did bad, being in last place going into round 3, but getting a big rd 3 win to sneak in to 7th. Played 4x cr90 (trc/engine tech) cracken list with a bunch of rouge fighters. Tired now with no notes, but RD faced a hard counter list to mine (high activation demolisher + fireball list), and lost 9-2.. I was matched up with another player with a favorable list for me to play, but 2 Cali players who play all the time were matched up so we switched opponents, and when I saw my new opponent's list said a little "aw ****" in my head but had a fun game. I evaporated his flotillas but couldn't evade both the demolisher and fireball enough to keep pace, and he played well with the fighters keeping mine busy.. he got all 4 of my corvs for a tabling. RD 2 faced an interdictor, demo, insidious and anti-fighter fighter list, and got silly and greedy with one good shot on the interdictor I had a chance to maybe kill it if my other ships did real well on their next shots, so didn't keep the distance I should have from the gladiators gambling on a quick interdictor kill... and it didn't happen, and I got wrecked 10-1.. great game still, playing precision strike and got token farmed some, but he needed to score high and it stayed fun.. which was good because RD3 I went from token farming nail to token farming hammer.. RD 3 faced a balanced pickle/whale/g75 list with a big swarm of x,a,b wings and Jan... got superior positions and killed everything on the field but the 80, and farmed more rear shot tokens than the 80 was worth, only losing 2 yt2400's... the opponent was great at staying fun, I could have felt like a jerk rear-arc farming the 80 if it wasn't bottom tourney table and he understood and rolled with it good naturedly. I ended up with 16 victory tokens and won 10-1 Had a great time, still managed to sneak in top 8. Hope to do better in February but nice to have the alt-dice pressure off. Best of all, I got to score Gouged Eye and Reikland Reaver flags for Blood Bowl there too! Huge thanks to Imperial Outpost!
  14. I will be in AZ, but jetting out quick once it's done to drive back to Vegas.. can try to get a list tho
  15. Yep.. flotillas, ISD, glads.. ships without redundant tokens, that will push for an early fight.. also small ships are only trading 1 hull from motti which is easy to equivalate (real word?) with a restored token or two. He is an admiral you have to actively use/plan for, so motti is always the easier to have, whether or not Tagge has more potential if run well.
  16. just curious, how many brace tokens come in a set?
  17. I say his only out of legitimate concern for both yourself and others, and I don't mean to be pedantic or judgmental. Caffeine can get one really far, but a $50 hotel is just such a much safer option. For you and the people sharing the road with you. Unless you're carpooling, which I really hope you are. And I'm sure you're a responsible adult capable of making informed and smart decisions, but in my lines of work, it never hurts to get input from others (it's actually often required). Everyone is a safety officer I have one for Friday night, but it's work and drive out (get there midnite-ish), then tourney and drive home Saturday.
  18. I will be a the AZ regionals next weekend also, but sandwitching the tourney between 2 6 hour drives, so don't expect any coherent details from me until after the weekend
  19. One thing I like about the Armada tourney scene is the random element. I can play well and be happy to play well, but it's necessary for luck to come into play to take a first place generally. The tourneys being much smaller than say Xwing makes the prize tiers much more attainable. The ultra-competitive gamer is not likely to like this, and will tend to not play.. Blood bowl is similar being so dicey, the folks that stress too much about winning tend to get turned off.. making it a much more friendly atmosphere. I don't see points-feeding as a big issue. It doesn't happen often, usually it's a matter of fatigue or desperate overplay.. and it's just not worth stressing over.
  20. It's your prerogative, of course. But here's the thing. Nobody plays Vassal when they could be playing IRL. We play vassal on other nights when we can'r get to the game store or nobody else locally is available or we can't start till too late or whatever. Of course playing on the table is better than playing Vassal. But playing on Vassal is better than not playing at all. I stress test my new fleets by playing against fleets I know are successful. It was weird at first playing against yourself, but I found it is extremely helpful in deployment and the movement of ships and squads. I play at least 2 games a week against myself, and 2-3 against my community. I never could get into Vassal, and I don't think I would be able to pick up any valuable skills that translate to the table. If you can play that much Armada, you sure don't need Vassal
  21. Yeah Yavaris hit a flotilla, but his ram final position was next to the assault frigate they did the damage to the flotilla, and Yavaris is under fire, major major mistake
  22. Meh. I liked Lyr fine, tho I saw his faults. I never met him outside of forums/vassal, so can't speak of any of his local issues. I also take internet boards very non-seriously and am terribly hard to offend, or get riled on them.
