Yep. So you can check the math at the end and tell if it's a base or outpost.

Dodonna and the All Out Offensive
Daht replied to Jukey's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
The ambiguity with Konstantine is that it effects the enemy ship, not his own. If you consider the enemy ship "triggering/resolving the effect" from being near 2 'friendly ships' then you could argue the effect would work with any ships in the fleet. As this is a unique case and relies on a stretch in interpretation, without a clear errata from FFG I would side with only K's ships count if a ruling is needed. Being a campaign tho, unless it's some one-day event with prizes on the line, it's of no concern if your game rules it either way. -
I will say the Ion Cannon is the easiest to maximize of the 3 in general. Fighter wing requires more specific builds and smart squadron play, the base requires you to take advantage of the activation and is harder to place to get multiple strong shots unless you turtle (which works for some lists and not others).. Ion does give you the deployment disadvantage, but it's easy to set up a gauntlet that only multiple strategic can have a chance to avoid. If you don't have a specific plan for figher wing or base assault, take Ions.

I love my SW7's on ISD2's when paired with xi7.. xi7 means you NEVER acc a redirect, so any more than 1 or 2 at most acc become wasted. If your opponent is using ECM all acc are wasted (beyond exaushting ECM) in many cases.

Days Since We Last Had To Make Up Rules As We Went Along: 0
Daht replied to Ardaedhel's topic in Star Wars: Armada
But if it means this ship activation, if you activated the squadron even separately from the action of placing the squadron would the squadron activation count as a subset of the greater ship activation and therefore still not be allowed to move? -

Tarkin + Lambda = Command Squadrons with no dials?
Daht replied to Artifixprime's topic in Star Wars: Armada
It's not as good as a full on, real fighter push, but yes it works fantastic letting your ships do other commands and still having some tactical use of the fighters during the turn. -
#1 had 32 points but #2 had 33?

what happens if the offensive player throw to wrong dice?
Daht replied to Kepagt's topic in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions
If in doubt, scoop them all and reroll. in casual games you might use the same rule as a cocked/off the table dice and allow the already-rolled dice to stand, but it should be 100% consistant and cleared beforehand. -
Yeah I took 2nd at Vegas, but they lost my list, got it resent to them to get updated. Rebel Cracken cr90's list.

Both of my green sets are spot on. Printed ranges on my orange are accurate, but the range 5/long range is cut short.
-
The only issue I see, that I would agree with is that if points are tied, head to head matchup might take precedence over MOV. Of course, at some point someone will have a massive MOV advantage and lose a 5-6 by a few points due to slow play and we'd have another argument. Unless it's a big enough tourney for more rounds and some kind of cutoff/elimination round(s), any points system to determine ranking will have flaws, or at least tiebreaker mechanics that people will feel could be done better. Nature of the beast.
-
I'm prepared for it being something they aren't going to fix, it's disappointing the actual plastic is shorter.. the printed ranges all match up with the store champs, just range 5 and long range get a tad cut off. If it's a general production issue/feature I guess it goes in storage or ebay.
-
Are they shorter than the store championship/cardboard rulers in general? Not by a lot, but mine is a half centimeter or so short... enough that I wouldn't use it but not obvious without lining them up.. just curious if it is just how they made the batch, or if I may have a miscut.

How do you handle someone who is slow playing you?
Daht replied to Snipafist's topic in Star Wars: Armada
Yeah, get a judge.. there is a big gray area between being slow and deliberate slow-play that unless you play the person regularly is difficult to discern. Part of the judge's job is to be the "bad cop" if needed to keep things moving. You don't want to cause a negative play experience to a new tourney player who simply isn't used to the pace, but the time limits are real, let the judge handle the push. -
Came in 2nd place at Las Vegas, but sad to find out my orange range ruler is noticeably shorter than the green store champ ones? Is this common or was mine maybe miscut? (about a half centimeter short).

List naming convention suggestion! "VVRZZ Jerjerrod 8sq-AAties 3b"
Daht replied to Blail Blerg's topic in Star Wars: Armada
I think if you study enough to get much out of the shorthand, you almost certainly know all the cool nicknames already.. interesting idea but I think you want the easiest to translate shorthand.. -
In a campaign setting that rule can work. House ruling ect is much easier in campaign than for tournaments, where you need to reach a larger consensus of players you only play against in order to win real prizes in a competitive setting. Campaign is not tournament, where you argue with someone over RRG and one side needs to "win" or be "correct" in order for the game to work. Your folks like ships running off being a legit saving-damage tactic, use it.. The best part of campaign play (in my opinion at least) is the flexibility to alter things, try different things to suit you and your friend's playstyles and preferences without it affecting a greater "meta".

Did not read any of this thread except the title. Yes

So have you ignored me yet or are you needing a ban to get it.

This Bladewing guy seems totally legit. I got council on retainer to cover my own ass, the rest of you should think about it as well. -
Umm, yeah. About Scum and Villainy in Armada...
Daht replied to Flavorabledeez's topic in Star Wars: Armada
I think working a 3rd mini faction into a campaign setting could happen if CC is not a one-and-done experiment. It's always possible they could fall back onto Clone Wars or in a few years get a new faction or enough support for a scum faction from new movies. All of which are relative longshots tho.. -
Good deal. A bit buried but that's what I need to secure the time off for it this month.
-
I know Armada is on the "May track" so it's sometime in May.. have they set dates? can't find any on the site (need to know soon to try and secure time off)

How about "if you lose, and your opponent gets more tournament swag than you do, you may swap tournament swag"... losing to win I always thought Thrawn would be more what Biggs said.. or something where if you can guess your opponents activation or command dial you got a bonus.. "When an opponent activates a ship, before revealing his command dial, you may guess what the command dial is set to. If correct, give one of your ships a matching token to the command dial, if incorrect, you may not use this ability again this turn" or "if correct, the opponent must use the dial and cannot take a command token, if incorrect, you may not use this ability again this turn" to be cheaper
