  1. Once the figures and the corresponding deployment cards are placed on the table, they are able to activate as normally just like any other imperial deployment card.

As you said, it comes to tactics. Don't end your activation in front of the door you just opened, if possible have excess movement through either a move action or any available strain movement to get out of line of sight or increase the distance.

  2. You need to still hit with the attack in order for the bonus damage to apply, sucks super hard if they roll the Dodge on the white die.

You shouldn't be able to lose a target when using the card, I know of no effects other than the Quickdraw Holster that happen after being targeted but before the die roll.

The order of operations for the card happen before you roll the dice for the attack, so if Jyn is able to get out of line of sight with her shenanigans, you don't exhaust the card or expend the threat because you were never able to make the attack. Then again the Quickdraw Holster might be the exception to the rule.

In your example that you have with Jyn is her ability at the start of the model's activation, so you never declared an attack.

  3.

Move vs. Pounce / dioganal movement / Fizzgrid™:

    N = Nexu start

    P = Pounce placement

    Move 6:

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][2][_][_][_][_]

    [_][1][1][2][4][_][_][_]

    [_][_][3][3][4][6][_][_]

    [_][_][_][5][5][6][M][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][M][M][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    Pounce 4:

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][1][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][2][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][3][P][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][P][P][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    Edit: Pounce corrected.

Wouldn't the Nexu "unfold" on the 6 space on the move diagram (I've plotted it into the quite), thus making pounce and move the same?

The Pounce ability allows for the final placement of the model based upon the space called out in the ability.  The normal movement has to follow all rules regarding movement for bigger sized bases. Which means that half of the spaces still have to be occupied for each movement point spent, and once it reaches its full movement it is unable to move any farther, including the "unfold" which it could never do in the first place..

  4. Wait a second...doesn't pounce only work within 3 spaces?

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][N][N][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][1][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][2][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][3][P][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][P][P][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

    [_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_][_]

Which is still farther movement than what the example is for the speed 6

  5. Not looking at the campaign guide.....but isnt Szark represented by the ELITE Trandoshan card?

That said, in this case the only thing that would matter is if the card is Regular (Grey), or Elite (Red). If the card is Regular (Elite), the Szark is a valid target for CI Comlink.

Szark is represented by the Regular (Gray) Trandoshan Hunter card.

  6. I was disappointed about the aspect of the game from yesterday's news article about it. Seemed pretty simple due to the 4 leaders and actions you can take. Now with the knowledge of being able to increase the amount of leaders to increase the amount of options you can take during a turn, completely reversed my waning interest in the game.

    As Stone37 said,

  7. For Campaign I love them for the command decks that I use which make Droids better (Tech Superiority and Armored Onslaught). When using decks that are meant for others I still love to bring them cause they have the health and activation count to help even the odds just a titch.

  8. I'm interested in the two new decks for Return to Hoth.  What are your guy's thoughts on them?

Precision Strike, the deck is not sexy at all. It will not give you the amazing damage from a roll, it is more of a death by a thousand stings component. Brutal with the generic +1 accuracy and Pierce 1 cards that go to ALL imperial figures. Amazing Sniperesque deck.

Armored Assault, to me this deck is sexy. It is all about your Vehicles, Droids and Heavy Weapons. This deck will give you the brute strength that you want and love to dish out. Make dice turn into reds and turn those into 3 damage showing automatically. You will never want to bring the vanilla Stormtroopers with this deck. Bring the Heavies and with the starting XP card for the deck, roll 2 reds at your enemies at 2 range for free with your regular Heavy Stormtroopers or at 3 with the elites. Probe droids become brutal for only three threat.

  9. The rebels went from a brainless steamroll, to an evenly fought, win-some, lose-some campaign. I would say that right there is pretty fun. The Rebels should expect to win roughly half of the missions, give or take, depending on their skill level. If you feel like you are steamrolling the fun out of them, try bringing units you would not normally bring, just for fun. Or make tactical decisions that may seem unwise, while grinning like a maniac. "Huh, why did the empire bring in reinforcements way over there.....what's he planning?". Sometimes just the threat of pushing the rebels into what they dont know may or may not be an expertly crafted trap is enough to keep one side from steamrolling the other, while at the same time, keeping the game fun and fresh for the rebels.

The same can be said if the rebels are steamrolling you. Start playing defensively. Take pot shots while moving into cover (out of LOS). Lure the heroes with a false sense of power and security and then focus fire the tauntaun guts out of one of them, just to show them you CAN do it (E-Web Engineers are EXCELLENT for this, they are quite capable of wounding a hero with both attacks in a single activation from an excessive range).

That makes me think of what our Imperial player did to me. He brought out an AT-ST and shot my character, while using Military Might and an Agenda card, made the AT-ST focused for shot and did around 9 damage to Fenn. Then he used the agenda card to shoot again (depleting it) and did another 7 damage to flip my Rebel Elited Fenn. Sad day for me, but just amazing at the sheer magnitude of that firepower.

  10.

I get what you mean, but honestly the first turn for a lot of characters is just moving so you don't have to have use Gideon to move Loku. In fact, I've noticed when I move my characters too far forward too fast I lose. I think I want to use Loku to shoot later in each round trying for the kill shot. And at a certain point you don't need to use the focus from Gideon on Loku anymore, Loku can self focus if you do it right. So then moving him with Gideon isn't bad.

My thoughts exactly, Loku isn't the boss killer, he plunks the lessers which keeps his focus ability going.

44% chance to whiff is a big risk imo. Loku does do superior damage when he hits thanks to the red die, but he's so squishy he really doesn't want to have to get to range 4 to attack. Mak also has 100% accuracy at range 4, but the 2nd blue die along with an accuracy surge means he has 97% accuracy at range 5 and his range 7 attack is just as accurate as Lokus range 5, and easier to pull off thanks to priority target, meaning Mak can better hang back out of danger and pull hit & run tactics.

Loku should have at least gotten a green die instead of the red, that would have justified the +1 point over Mak.

    I think you mean 34%

Why not pair Loku up with Gideon or C3-P0? Both can get Loku focused which makes him accuracy at 100% at range 5 when using Set Your Sights. Guess it sounds better on paper than what happens during actual games...

Set your sights = cannot move.  So you have to be in position and hope that someone wanders by.

Does Gideon also not have a second ability that lets a friendly figure move two spaces?

Honestly, I think the reserved unit in A new Threat should not be a nexu at all. As in it shouldn't be a unit that can completely cover the east terminal.

Yeah, I kinda agree actually.  So maybe then keep the elite Nexu in, and just change the reserve unit to like Hired guns or something.  I think you are right, opening that door and knowing you have to spend 3-5 attacks is just too much of a delay.  Im on board, will have to give it a try.

If you want to modify it, you would have to have something else that is a part of the core set and not an expansion. What if you made the Nexu a regular and had the option of popping up a unit of regular Trandoshans? (jungle theme with the lizards)

I think we have our early favorite for the "Jenga Deployment Memorial: Rules Lawyer of the Year" Award

PLEASE let's not start that again...my forehead still hurts from banging the keyboard...
