  1. I'm really looking forward to the electro-proton bomb and the new fuse marker. What an awesome way to control a part of the playing area.

  2. It's died at my local store. 1.0 had monthly tournaments and every Fri/Sat night there was always at least half a dozen players that would show up to play for years. Interest was starting to wane towards the end of that version, but many didn't even try to convert over to 2.0. I don't think there's even been a monthly tournament in about a year.

However, I think the biggest killer to X-wing in my community was the release of Warhammer 40K 8th edition.

It would just help - I expect people to apologise and explain when they get things wrong.

Lol. You want an apology? Apologize for what?  I can't think of too many things that go off in life without a hitch of some sort.  Whether it's a military operation, sports game, vacation planning, making dinner, day-to-day routine in life, etc.  They released an app...granted it has some bugs, but to demand an apology as if you're a victim or have been personally offended because the initial rollout didn't go as planned is absolutely laughable.  I can't believe the victimhood that I'm seeing more and more of in everyday life.

  4. Am I missing something? I thought the escape craft separated from Lando's Millennium Falcon. I see a smaller peg holder attached to the front of the ship, but when I try separating them, nothing budges.

  5. At first I thought the Advanced Targeting Computer was nerfed by not giving you an automatic crit.  Now you get to roll an extra die, and convert a hit to a crit.  Major strikeout if you roll blanks or can't modify the dice somehow.  However, I noticed the language on the card has changed from 1.0 because in the new edition, it doesn't say that you "cannot spend target locks during the attack."  So, has the card actually been buffed?

For me, the only one I don't quite get is the choice ot only have two defenders in the imp kit.  A LOT of people have 3 of those.

This is what I've been kind of complaining about on my local boards.  I understand that a 2nd edition was needed, but what irks me is that for those of us who fly 3 and 4 ship lists (of the same ship) that we already paid for, mind you, that we're going to be forced to buy an additional basically now useless ship just to get the additional card stock.

I'm on the fence..  mainly due to being back in school and not working..  mortgages are not cheap!

My first foray into miniature gaming was with X-wings a few years ago.  I instantly fell in love with it and was totally engaged with it by buying up every model (many times multiples). I would even leave work early to make sure I could get down to the FLGS when they opened so I wouldn't miss out on any of the new releases and I was playing almost weekly. I would even drive around the state to catch different monthly store tournaments.  Man, did I wish there was a Legion type game out at that time.  I know for a fact I would've gone full bore into it.

However, Legion came out 9 months too late.  Warhammer 40k's 8th edition released last June and I figured it was a good time to get into that type of a miniature game and I was totally committed.  I started painting for the first time in my life and amassed myself some pretty large armies. It wasn't until 2 months later that FFG finally announced Legion and by that time it was too late for me.  Heck, if they would've announced the game around 40k's release and had it out in a few months later, I probably would've waited for it.  Now, 9 months later I've invested way too much time and money to even start another game...maybe...because it sure does look fun.

So, I guess I am kind of on the fence myself, but right now what's really holding me back is having to paint some boring *** looking storm troopers and traitorous rebels. I really wish this game would've been prepainted.

Sure, people can do better than X-Wing and Armada.  And those people stripped, primed, painted, and touched up those models.  For the other 99% of the people, they were ecstatic to have amazing looking (in their opinion) unit to field right out of the box.  The pre-painted aspect of those games drew people in, lots of people.  Lots of people that had never played table top games.  Lots of people that had never touched a paintbrush outside a water color set in grade school.  X-wing wouldn't be top dog today if it wasn't for the pre-painted aspect.

I can attest to the fact that the only way I ever even dreamed of getting into miniature gaming was because X-Wing was already pre-painted.  However, two years later and dropping almost $750 over the last six months by investing in Blood Bowl, Warhammer 40k, paints, brushes, hours and hours of time, etc.

I am now fully invested into miniature gaming. I thought there was no way I'd ever even have the ability to hold a paint brush without shaking, but after watching videos and researching on the web, I can now paint some pretty respectful looking miniatures.  Of course they're not professionally done, but in all seriousness they compare to many of the miniatures I see on the tables now and in fact look better than some even.  And this is after only painting about a dozen miniatures.  I wish I would've discovered this fun and rewarding hobby years ago.  I can not wait until SW Legions comes out.

as for the punisher, am I the only one that thinks acc corrector, bomblet, and LWF is the way to go on them? I think if they had a bit better dial, you could actually do something with a build like that.

Or, Unguided Rockets instead of Accuracy Corrector.

  10. I love Startactics and use it for list building, but I often find myself using X-Wing Companion quite a bit too because the layout is a lot easier to look up a particular category i.e. elite, modification, ship, etc.

It would just be nice to have some official clarification. What happens, for example, if I search a deck for Blinded Pilot, but both of them have already been dealt? Do I have to search for a different Pilot crit? Or can I take a different action, instead? What if there simply aren't any pilot crits -- did I waste my action, or do I get another one? Personally, based on the precedents set with other actions, I'd tend to say that if you don't find the crit you're looking, you can Kylo for a different crit or choose a different action; but that's just me. I can see other arguments being made, and it would have been nice to get some clarification on this card, since it's kinda confusing and fairly common.

It's stated right on the I'll Show You the Dark Side Condition card.  "When this card is assigned, if it is not already in play, the player who assigned it searches the damage deck for 1 Damage card with the Pilot trait and may place it faceup on this card."  Don't read too much into it and do simply what the card says.  The card doesn't mention anything about ensuring you get a particular Pilot card that you want.  It clearly states search for 1 Damage card with the Pilot  header.

However, you do bring up an interesting point.  What if you go to assign the condition card and all of the Pilot damage cards are already assigned or dealt out?  It's very, very unlikely, but anything is possible.

But now as I'm typing this I'm totally questioning the wording on the card and I could be completely wrong and Ailowynn is totally right.  Why does it say "may place it faceup on this card?"  Is it kind of like when wanting to barrel roll to the left and once you try to and can't because an obstacle is in the way, you get to take back that barrel roll action and do another action instead?  So, if I want Blinded Pilot and it's not in the deck, can I take back my Kylo Ren crew card action?

Starviper, Khiraxz, Scum Z-95 and most of all the U-Wing beg to differ.

With the latest "Guns for Hire" preview, it's almost as if you were on the X-Wing development team. Nice!
