    Everyone one is missing the point that Hyperspace format allows new players to join the game competitively. The only way to compete in Extended currently is to already be a current player with a collection and conversion kits or ebay a bunch of 2nd hand models. The barrier to entry is too high for new players in extended and will lead to communities dying off without fresh players. Outside of the very specific events, run the format that suits your play group and stop complaining on the internet.

    Trajectory Simulator Bombs are the answer. I've been flying my own Drea swarm and that's the one thing that gives me trouble.

    This. I understand people not trusting FB now with their personal info, but you can totally make an account under a fake name and use it for your hobbies. Join the FLGS and x-wing groups and don't friend request anyone. FB super useful for event planning and easy enough to use anonymously.

    I hate tragedy simulator, but I agree TS or the punisher chassis will see point adjustments to even out its effectiveness. Auto damage is a tricky thing to balance.
  16. I'm excited for this change. I think I'll enjoy the list building challenge of being stuck with options I wouldn't otherwise consider, much like a draft in a CCG. Limitations increase creativity, imo.

    I still saw a bunch of Expertise Rey or Rey crew this past SC season. Blocking wasn't dead in 1.0, but it had lost its effectiveness. 2.0's lack of action economy and passive mods will return blocking to its former glory.

    The tie swarm player is playing poorly if they let you pull off this '6k' trick on them. Ryad has prepared swarm players well for predicting multiple K-turn speeds and the ties should be in position to block them all. That means no free evade and a ton of up close, bullseye attacks, and a dead defender. You'll catch some people with this trick, but you should be punished for it by a prepared swarm player.

    I think top tier competitive tournaments will be limited to what content is currently rereleased. Conversion kit contents will become playable over time as more and more ships are rereleased. It all comes down to new players. FFG, and us as a community, should want the largest and most welcoming format to be the top tier competition. New players would be severely limited if existed players would have full collections to draw from.
  21. Threat cards have combos of mods/epts/upgrades etc that will not be legal in the standard 200 point format. The 2 games modes are just that, different game modes and formats. Fangs cannot take Afterburners. 5 X-wings do not fit into a list. However, all of these things are variable. The points and slots will change. Threat cards will quickly become outdated, if they aren't already, once the next update of points and slots comes along anyways. Calm down everybody and enjoy that favorite ship of yours and its new coat of 2.0 paint.

    The lists has already been updated to fix the Jumpmaster's upgrade bar. You are correct that threat cards could have the longer life span overall. However, I think the confusion comes from the term 'outdated.' I simply mean that threat cards will not match standard points/upgrade slots because those will constant shift over time while the threat cards stay the same.

    Its not always math, its upgrade slots too. The biggest complaint so far is that Fangs don't have a mod slot in standard, but have them on their Threat cards. I'm not arguing that Threat cards are bad, quite the opposite. I'm just pointing out that they are different, are intended for a different format, and should be treated as such.

    Those 'what if' values will change. Upgrades slots are no longer static. That's the whole point of them not being printed anymore. Current Quick Builds may be compatible now, but won't be come the next wave or two. Or they'll cycle back and Fangs can take a mod slot in the future. These things are no longer permanent. This is the price we pay to have a better balanced game. As more updates to costs/slots come, more cards that come in ship packs may face the same problem. And the upgrades are still playable in the Threat card format, cuz the game has multiple formats now besides epic.
