This conversation is very technical but I'd say that there's no "tie" possible against or Sauron. If you don't win, then you have lost. It fits the theme.
I'd also add that it'd be a good application of the "Grim Rule" if there was such a thing in LOTR, that should have been faqqed a long time ago.

I understand you well but that would still need some dedicated re-formatting all that SQL content to wiki format. A very tedious work, especially considering the time I spend putting that in a database in the first place.

Hello,
Unfortunately, the .com domain has expired a few days ago, and I won't be renewing it due to lack of money, time and motivation to maintain it. I know I somewhat "break" a part of my engagement to this community but as a standard of living, I refuse to be dragged down by something I don't want to do anymore; especially if I lose time and money in it, which I lost plenty.
The Quest Companion will eventually come back, don't worry. I've prospected for someone to take over for a few months, unfortunately, some of those guys though interested, lack the time themselves to incorporate the quest companion content into their own support. However, I've no worries someone will eventually show up.
If you're yourselves interested, please send me a message.
The website is HTML+CSS+jquery with a mysql database and php.

HA HA HA HA HA
This is the first time I'll be negative about the game: it's absolutely awful.

It looks like a bade Hearthstone by the way.

I think most of my LCG playtime is taking out and putting back my cards in the binder.
Then, there's the time I think and talk about the game.
That must leave 5% at actually playing the **** game.

I always play easy mode.
I keep a list of quests I know are too easy in easy mode, and play them normal mode.
And a short list of quests I play Nightmare mode when I feel my deck would crush even normal mode.
I still can't say my win rate is sky high, though.
I'm very happy we're finally seeing Dale, and it looks like the scenarios are heading north. So we might just see what some of us wish for: going beyond Erebor, drakes and more dragons. That'd be insanely cool. I'm excited at the trading Item theme, curious to see where it'll lead! I'm a bit surprised because it seems very specific, and the previous Dale allies are more about location control than anything. The designers seem to have developped the tribes of Middle-Earth with a lot of foreseing and theme binding lately. Maybe they just came up with the idea. That's cool anyway. Maybe some Item attachment will bind the two mechanics.

I think my good friend Valiko is right. As much as that bogs me down, it has to be a digital version.
I do hope that they make the app/soft support the physical card game too. You could play with your actual cards while the app would manage the campaign aspects, with, YAY!!!, a generic campaign mode.
That campaign mode could very well give you some kind of "money/credits" to "buy" equipment, new allies, etc. I don't think It would be that hard to balance with a companion app, and other 7 years, I've seen so many attempts at doing that kind of campaign mode. Heck, all those progression modes are nearly that, aren't they? You could auto-win some cards as you progress, and spend credits/experience/whatever to get the "most powerful ones".
What always dissuaded me from doing a progression-style thing (and that is why we opted to make our own campaign mode with friends) is that the physical card pool management is not as easy IRL as playing on OCTGN. An app would help that. Remember which cards you purchased and which you did not, etc.
EDIT: also European readers, the twitch of FFG is announced 11AM CT, that's 6 PM on the continent and 5 PM in the UK.

Attach Diligent Noble to Brand or Dain.
They now have the Noble trait.

tripecac supposition is actually one of the most probable I think. I hadn't thought about it myself.

I don't want to be too unpleasant but I hope it's much more exciting that what you are suggesting!
I wouldn't welcome a 2nd edition, especially right in the middle of a cycle when we have been waiting ages for an adventure pack and that we know a next cycle has already been developed! (So that would certainly bar the "big announcement" to be the next cycle, though as someone said on the forums, that 9 months hiatus would certainly make it look like a big announcement).
The most probable speculation I've seen around are:
- Something to do with the First and/or Second Ages of Lords of the Rings, since licensing is already more flexible following the departure (resignation?) of Christopher Tolkien
- Something to do with the new amazon series (as a direct tie to what I just said)
- A second core set, as a new entry point for new players, maybe collated with the above ides (First Age core set or "amazon-kinda-series" core set). Note that at this point, I'm putting a "kinda" in there because the amazon series is still in its early developing stages I believe, it'd be just impossible that FFG would announce anything related to something no one knows, not even amazon.
- A change of packaging, like they did for Call of Cthulhu at some point: now developing and selling Deluxe-size products only (no more AP). The "big announcement" would serve a way to make it look like it's great, when it'd just announce the game's fading (and it will at some point, after all, we don't know the selling figures and how they relate to FFG's/Asmodee's current commercial policies and business plan)
- Brandon playing with errata'd Boromir
Those are probable.
Now what I would like:
- Dat new coreset being based on The War of the Ring appendixes, and lost tales. So much to tell there: Battle of Dale (Thorin Stonehelm, Bard son of Brand), 1st, 2nd battles of the Fords of Isen, the Ents vs Orcs in the Westfold, the Assault on Lorien / Dol Guldur (though I don't own Attack on Dol Guldur yet and it certainly seems like it)
- Dat new coreset to integrate a real generic campaign mode, that you could use with the new products as well the old ones

5 hours ago, Rouxxor said:There is rumor about french packs released in belgium. If I get the text of the cards I will inform you :).
Should'nt they be called belgian packs then?

Kiddin', looking forward to it. It is said that the new hero is a hobbit from what I've read elsewhere.

I haven't read all the reactions.
I find all the erratas to be pretty fair but for two points:
- Caldara. Ok, I get it. Caldara was über powerful, and I only played her in a kind of crappy thematic deck to avoid breaking the game. For this kind of decks, Caldara's just a random useless hero
- Hama. That errata is really rough. I played only a couple of times the Thicket of Spear combo. It was fun. Then, we took it against Stone of Erech. HEY HELLO Shadow-maaaaaaaaaaaaaaan http://hallofbeorn.com/LotR/Details/Shadow-man-TSoE !!!!!!! So not that strong after all. Never played the combo again. And deadly with that kind of effect (or those that blank text of heroes). I used Hama for his flexibility to recycle lots of nice Tactics events (such as Foe-hammer) without having the feel it breaks the game.
Overall, as it's a cooperative game, I think the designers are just wrong on some of these erratas. I would rather give errata to cards that limits or constrained deckbuilding rather than cards that are part of a weird specific combo breaking the game.
In short, I just can't understand how in the **** Caldara (remember what everybody was saying when she was first out) got errata'ed but no freaking Spirit Glorfindel.

And I guess you coul do both : easy mode (extra resources, no hard encounter cards) + basic mode (no shadow cards).
